Before I saw that it was WannaExit starting this thread, the first thought I had was what did Billy say about Dark Side's wife.
Billy you put a smile to my face also. I'm glad you're on this board. You're definately one of the reasons I made my first post on here. Thanks for everything.

Brace yourselves: The GOOD things about the WTBS! heh
by theMadJW inyes-lotta nonsense; a self-proclaimed "slave class" that is not a prophet but like a prophet, giving so awfully embarrasing opinions that are supposed to be automatically acceted by all of us jws...pretenders...mistakes... and moves not "discreet" at all- like the ngo united nations membership they secretly had for awhile....terrible, isn't it?.
i mean, look at the inspiring example we have in churchianity: such wonderful dogma- such as the three sadist-gods who have been torturing billions of men, women, and children for thousands of years- with eternity to go...and god making the universe in 72 hours...and backing the wars of their governments- "god and country!
", as they send their men out to war, telling them they will be blessed for it, and so many more wonderful revelations: the rapture, once-saved, tithing, etc.

I'm gonna go out on a limb on behalf of MadJW for just a brief moment. If I would have posted this at the beginning of the thread it would have been on topic. At this point it will get lost in the thread pages which may or may not be a bad thing, I don't know. Anyways, here goes.
I just got back from a meeting, and I have to say there are plenty of honorable men who truly do care for the people in their congregations. What was discussed tonight, I'm not able to go into details for the obvious reasons. However I just wanted to say that many of the criticisms I see directed at Elders on this board I know are legitimate. I've heard some pretty bad horror stories first hand before even being aware of this board. I've known some rotton fellas who could quote from The Flock book. At the same time after what I witnessed tonight, and other experiences I've had, I'm convinced there are many, many men who truly are loving and caring men. Some do this because they were raised and trained to do good on behalf of others. Others may have more ambitious motivations that happen to benefit those that they help toward whatever their ambitious goals might be. Whatever the reasons the men I sat with tonight may be, I'm honored to be amongst them this evening. As a young man who makes it a point to learn off of those older than myself, JW or not JW, I benefited from their experiences and wisdom tonight. I have to say many widows in this organization, many disabled, many poor ones, many elderly ones have benefited from the kindness and generosity of imperfect appointed men. Yeah they screw up royally, but when they do whats right and good on behalf of others, I fear we forget that too easily.
Alright I'm done with my Disney moment. Time to get back to the 49ers/Saints game. You think anybody will get bawled up as bad as Vince Young getting Triple Siberian Suplexed yesterday? Jack Tatum R.I.P.

"You are only looking at things 'critical' of the Watchtower"
by sabastious insomething jws say that to a lot to people who have left or are leaving the org.. i find it very a very ironic statement since the wt and awake, or any wt literature for that matter, is never critical of itself and never directly addresses refutation of their doctrine and predictions.... i was raised a witness, as many of you were.
i have been subjected to "one-side-of-the-coin" for almost 2 decades!
the only true way to bring balance to my information is to look at the other side of the coin and give it great consideration.... -sab.

Have you heard a JW speaker talk about the glass of water with ONLY one drop of poison?
They're not humble enough, or grounded enough to acknowledge the irony of your question.

When your whole outlook on the WTS has been based off their own personal glamour shots that you found defective, what'd they expect? To be fair I'm going through a new period of reflection. I was on a critical high regarding all things WT. Then I found some positive things I can agree with, but not much. I think I'm finally landing upon that rational yet not delusional critical opinion I've been seeking.

I'm curious, where's the father during all of this? Not that I'm judging her, but are those kids out of wedlock? The only reason I ask that is because I've always found it interesting when your weaker JWs hold to their priciniples on something like a not permitting a blood transfusion. Then several months later they're getting DFd or Reproved for some other infraction down the road. I'm curious as to whether this is a similar case.

Great news - Bethel in my country is closing down...
by Albert Einstein inhere in czech republic wtbs opened new bethel home for some 60 workers about 18 years ago.
it was presented as a proof jhvh is blessing and aproving wtbs and of course as a sign that the end is so close.... recently i had with my mil discusions about wtbs selling their property in many countries and cuting costs... she did not believe me..... last week we went to visit her and she told me there was an anouncment at her meeting, that bethel is closing down and the building will be sold.
only translating department will remain in the country in other premises and everything else will be moved to slovakia.. recently there is bethel closing down in spain and italy and several assembly halls being sold here in europe.. i hope this will open eyes to many jw to see the gb in fact does not believe in end being so close .... albert.

by booby in***w071/1p.30par.18"thefirstresurrection"-nowunderway***.
will all the anointed receive their heavenly reward before the war of armageddon?
he evidently meant that the lives of the anointed who were on hand when the sign began to become evident in 1914 would overlap with the lives of other anointed ones who would see the start of the great tribulation.. .

The 2007 quote is saying that we do not know if all the annointed will die before the start of Armageddon, or if some would see the start of armageddon.
The second quote is concerning the start of The Great Tribulation.
The "Faithful Slave" teaches that Armageddon is the Climax of the Great Tribulation. The great tribulation starts, continues for a while, and then the War of Armageddon climaxes and ends the Great Tribulation.
As you mentioned, the two quotes above do not really conflict, but lead one to the conclusion that some annointed would be around to see the start of the Great Tribulation, but it is not known if they will receive their "heavenly reward" before the climax of the Great Tribulation (Armageddon).
This is a major reason why JWs can hardly ever explain this stuff when pressed.

Some Elders might do the silent treatment because they get fed up with it all. Between the parts, field service, endless meetings, personal family life, the brother and sisters with the endless cloud over their heads, etc., sometimes you gotta find a way to drown it out. Otherwise you might just snap. I don't know how it is in other churches dealing with everybodys peculiarities, but as a born in JW, The Friends can drive you nuts. Make you want to kill somebody. There was a pioneer in our hall that I personally didnt speak to for a good six months or so. Truth be told, I hated her. Couldn't stand her. This was before I got appointed. I haven't seen her since as she moved away. At the time though if she got hit by a train, I wouldn't have lost sleep over her. A couple friends joked thats because we had secretly liked each other. I don't know. But seriously, there are people in the hall that you truly have to avoid or otherwise you might kill them.
