there are many "proof" texts that people (including jws) use to justify their rejection of anyone that is gay.
there are a few scriptures that you can pull up and try to make a case for show homosexuals why they are evil and wrong.. i've been researching more of these scriptures and i'm coming to some very different conclusions than many other christians hold, especially jws.
i wanted to talk about the first text used by many people to condemn homosexual behaviour.

The American Indians practised homosexuality,had different funnerals and were considerd barbaric by the priests who tryed to change the wisdom and warmth and humun insight of these proud people.
The simplistic answer is it is NOT disingenous to say the city was destroyed because of lack of hospitality. Ironically the Indians hospility to the priests in my mind destroyed a very hospitable people.

.....agree with everything Qcmbr said. But all the negative points you listed could be labelled also at certain prescriptive medicine, and food labelling companies.
These companies also increase peoples capacity for self harm with dishonest research, and missleading information to the consumer due to financial motivation. (Same as the Watchtower)
1.This causes alination from family and friends (due to the addiction)
2. Depression and mania (Due to the alination of family and friends and the addiction)
3.Spousal abuse, (By creating obisity,addictions.diabetics,depression ect)
4.Educational and careear retardation. (An unhealthy body will cause educational and carear retardation ie sleepiness ect)
5 End time fixation. (These companies actually do with their products bring about a early end fixation)
I think as long as there is financial motivation,power and status most any company given time and opportunity will turn out like the watchtower. Because individuals and governing bodies run companies and the agenda is Company first, members or ,consumers second.

why the breakdown .my mate and i are growing apart.. before you follow the advice of this publication.read the following.. robert and mary have been married for 30 years.they have a lovely daughter jennifer and a son ryan.robert,says we were a very happy family doing things together.like reading the bible,praying, going to church,weddings, funerals,christmas parties,get together with friends,vacations etc,etc.however,all that changed when mary joined the watchtower cult.now my wife declines all the above activities.all she does is read the wt/a mags.we now fight everday and are not happy.. just imagine mary said she will not go jennifers wedding because she was told by the publishers of the wt that our church is babylon the great,a whore and evil.
see wt 07/10/15 p27 and wt 05/02 qfr.. i believe their advice is hypocritical and would in fact cause this family to grow apart.they would end up in divorce court.the wife is brain-washed.after the divorce she would disown the family and will the estate and money to the wbts.. b.
Actually the watchtower does help many marriages last.
A guy stops drinking and clubbing and becomes a witness,( saves the marriage) so the partner becomes a witness. (Seen it happen)
Guy is married to a zelouse witness. He would have a breakdown if his marriage broke-up. So he makes the W.T his life. They are very happy.(Seen it happen)
If the Watchtower could get away with it, iam sure that the above marriages would only remain valid, if a second marrige was held at the K.H, to obtain Jehovers blessing thus making the marriage legal in Jehovers eyes.

growing up as a jw i always imagined the new system (tm) as being just like it's presented in the literature (tm).
i thought we'd all be hanging around with dorky looks on our faces, petting tigers and panda bears all day while we eat fruit and practice our dorky grins.. i've never seen a pic from the society (tm) showing cars or planes (or other forms of transport) in the literature (tm).
what did you imagine as far as transportation in the new system (tm)?
Answer , if the new ststem were to have existed will there be wheeled motor vehicles used for transporting passengers?
My answer i imagine so, and for holidays we could have explored the universe in space-ships. (It would have been nice shame it was all a dream)

Bungi Bill....I agree with your points, but the scary thing is people buy the product. So what makes J.Ws worse than any other organisation is the success of the product.
What is the product?,.....I think that the product is different from witness to witness. Power for many is the product, for others security is the product, for many fear is the product, and for many it is a beliefe in the entire W.T package.

Great point transhuman....as a parent i now deeply value the education of my son. In society most low income familys children forgo a university education. Maybe the expectations arnt as high on the child,maybe the blue collar worker is happy and contented.( A bin collector is more useful to society than a footballer.) so iam aware valuing my sons education, and assuring its really what will make him happy and useful to society is a challenge.

Family first, friends second .........I agree why should family members shun one of their own..... A jehovers Witness has as much freedom of thinking as a soilder.....from this thread I have learnt that fredoom to be an individual is something not to give up. And that BEING TO DEDICATED to any organisation can lead to A FORM of shunning family and friends.
