Because I was aware of his sexual harassment issues. Would you excuse Bill Clinton? If so then that is part of the problem. There's plenty of dirt on both sides of the fence and this election gave us two very bad choices.

Donald trump has on several occasions suggested policies including surveillance and the creation of a database of Muslims, as well as the proposal that they could not enter the country. That is violating the US constitutions' guarantee of equal protection of religious expression and the first amendments clause about freedom of religion.

I'm not in favor of any kind of surveillance on American citizens but I remember something eerily similar to the Patriot Act being enacted by one GW Bush. Never-the-less this still does not prove Donald to be a racist as religion is not a race and the conflation of the two is exactly what the regressives are all about.

The use of these cute labels to identify the in and out group (racist misogynist homophobic white man or "regressive leftist"/SJW) would appear to exactly fit my diagnosis of the problem in my previous post.

And who do you think started all of this? The regressive left is in the business of labelling everyone who disagrees with as racists, bigots, misygonists, and homophobes. The term, regressive left, comes from the very fact that they are trying to squash free speech, freedom of assembly, and want to cower in safe spaces. When blacks want their own spaces it reminds me so much of the days of Jim Crow. This is a REGRESSION, hence why the term, REGRESSIVE left.

The issue is that next president is going to be a person who flirts with the idea of limiting the freedom of the press (specifically, change legislation so that he can sue newspapers who write bad stories about him) and put his political opponents in prison. Are those values reflecting the US constitution and democratic system in your opinion?

No but like I said, a president does not have this kind of power and I doubt he would ever get this. How many other violations of the constitution did previous presidents get enacted? Plenty of dirt everywhere.

One thing that's strange is how many issues seem to have a correlation even though they shouldn't.

You're starting to sound like a classical liberal there, Simon. Or at the very least, a centrist. I do not hold binary views on a lot of issues but it would seem like so many people on both the extreme right or the regressive left expect me to.

I remember the other day I had a back and forth with Jamie Bowers over the issue of abortion not being considered murder but killing a pregnant woman is considered a double homicide. She lumped me in with the right wing pro lifers who do not want to give women the right to choose over what they do with their own bodies and I'm pro choice! Can one not see the inconsistency of killing a fetus in the womb being referred to as a murder unless the woman does it via abortion?

Trump's lies and advocacy of unconstitutional ideas are well-documented, as is his denial of science and support for warcrimes. I think that is why you will still rather attack Hillary and other people you do not like than face who you placed in your highest office.

Sigh. Rather than engage in ideas you go off on the attack. Just like a regressive leftist. To be fair, I did read the article linked by Simon and I'm still not convinced that it is all going to be doom and gloom as it suggests. We only elected a president, not a dictator. Our constitution limits the powers of a president for a very good reason but it seems like the people in this country has forgotten that.

It is good that you found a candidate who does not brag about sexually harassing members of YOUR sex and do not advocate unconstitutional and racist ideas against members of YOUR race.

Please post source and links describing Trumps actual racism and no a temporary ban on Muslim immigrants until we can better vet the peaceful Muslims from the Jihadists doesn't count. Nor does tightening our immigration laws because we actually do not want open borders.

Really? This sounds very conspiracy-theory. I could also flip that and say that "the powers that be" wanted Trump.

Yeah it does sound tin-foil hatty but given that even neo-cons were backing Clinton. I really don't see how the "powers that be" wanted Trump given that practically everyone (the Dems, the Republicans, the National Review, many conservative and libertarian commentators like George Will and Thomas Sowell, and the main stream press) had nothing good to say about him.

But was it really worth the tradeoff for the potentially dangerous other things that come in the box?

Color me naive but I really do not see how Trump would be any more dangerous than Hillary. In fact, given how much he was loathed by not only the Democrats but by members of his own party, I don't see how he would get much done.

Hillary, on the other hand, could have had a lot more people saying yes to her since not only did the Democrats want her, so did many members of the Republican party. Including neo-cons like George W Bush and Dick Cheney. If that don't scream, "She's establishment...," I don't know what does.

I really thought that Trump had no chance in hell in winning the presidency because it was so obvious that (in the words of George Carlin) "...the owners of this country don't want that." The powers that be clearly wanted Clinton and Trump winning was a big F-U to the plutocrats.

With that many people of power in your corner, there's no telling what Hillary Clinton could've been capable of had she won the white house. She would not be listening to the people, that's for damn sure.

But, at the same time, some of them didn't *because* he was black and some truly racist low-lifes are now emboldened and a lot of Trump's language has already (from accounts) initiated ugly incidents of racism in schools and public places around the country.

As opposed to the bigots who are beating up on Trump supporters (like the video Nathan Natas posted). Not to mention all the protesters who would pick fights with Trump supporters during his events. I mean, really, we've all seen the protesters outside the JW Assemblies. How would JWs respond to those protesters becoming violent at these Assemblies? This violates freedom of assembly. What about the latest assassination attempt on Trump? What about people like Scott Adams who said that he got death threats for even suggesting that Trump might win the presidency?

Do you have the slightest idea of what you're saying? The average American is not a self-absorbed, narcissistic, scam artist with hundreds of lawsuits against him due to unpaid workers.

Okay, so there is one difference. Trump is a multi-billionaire who actually has the means to campaign for the white house. With all that loot, he can buy the best lawyers for his hundreds of lawsuits. I guess he is an average american with a boat load of money.

I really don't see the whole doom and gloom thing and the comparison of Trump to Hitler seems ridiculous. Then again, I do not typically vote along the Republican lines. I voted for Obama twice but there was no way in hell I'd vote for Clinton. The vote for Trump simply came down to him being anti-establishment, like Bernie Sanders, and Hillary screams establishment.

I mean, that woman had neo-cons such as George W Bush and Dick Cheney supporting her. If that does not scream, "I'm part of the establishment," I don't know what does.
