hiccups are a weird phenomena.

they are a combination of two involuntary actions - firstly a rapid inhalation of breath followed 35 milliseconds later by the glottis at the back of the throat suddenly closing off our airway.. our normal breathing is controlled by a "central pattern generator" in a small region of the brain stem close to the boundary with the spinal cord.

I have attached this comical you tube link that gives a fairly reasonable explanation as to why the moon appears upside down in the southern hemisphere from a flat earth perspective. Albeit the guy looks a bit crazy and uses the F word a couple of times, his explanation does make a bit of sense.

clear view - I am sure the answers to those questions are out there somewhere. I don't know the answers to those questions, but will do research into them. Thanks for bringing to my attention. I would say however that the flight paths are quite fascinating. On a globe earth, they make no sense whatsoever. On a flat earth map, they make whole lot of sense. Also the united nations use a flat earth flag. Why do they do that. quite strange.

Landy...your comment made me chuckle. Most people laugh at the whole ideas as I initially did. But just take a look at one proof. People are sending balloons with go pro cameras very high up into the earths atmosphere and there are a number of videos showing hotspots of the sun on the top of the clouds. That is impossible if the sun is 93 million miles away. Check and see for yourself on youtube

Cofty......surely you meant truth"explorer". I look at different perspectives. It just so happens that I stumbled across the flat earth topic on you tube and laughed at how ridiculous the whole thing was - initially. I wasn't being 'desperate' to prove creation. However the further I have looked into the flat earth theory, the further I am convinced that we are being deceived about the shape of the earth. NASA appears to be making a lot of lies which go on and on. But getting back to the point. There is much evidence to prove the earth is not a sphere. That the sun and moon are much closer to earth and that it is the sun that rotates around the earth. Also remember the biblical passage where God made the sun stand still in the sky/firmament so that Joshua could defeat his enemies. This all harmonises. If so, and was absolutely proven; then the genesis account is credible and correct.

Pardon the pun Cofty, but I am going to cause a big hiccup. The biggest conspiracy all over YouTube right now puts Genesis chapter one squarely and firmly back where it should be in regards to how things came about. Dare you go down that rabbit hole is up to you. But one thing for sure, it is strengthening mine and many others faith in creation. It is the 'flat earth' conspiracy. Try debunking the flat earth. Your eyes will be opened.

Divisions among ex jw activists

i just watched a youtube discussion between marc & cora and unwitness.

it was regarding their unhappiness over a few prominent individuals in the ex jw community, one individual in particular.

this individual who on the one hand produces excellent videos highlighting wt issues, yet has been known to peeve a lot of ex jw activists off.

Personally I like all their videos. I like a broad perspective of view regardless of whether Christian or atheist. The point is they are all highlighting the harmful affects of the 'Watchtower publishing company'. If I want a laugh I watch Mike and Kim who BTW bring out some fascinating- facts about WT. If I want an in depth blow by blow account of the latest jw broadcast, I watch cedars. If I want latest updates on a variety of topics such as shunning, child abuse, blood issue etc, I watch Marc and Cora, unwitness and many more. All have the same goal ie to stop the harmful policies of the WPC.

My 14-year-old niece is being disfellowshipped

i was contacted by my ex sister-in-law yesterday.

she asked me if i wanted to spend some time with my niece, while she went to her sister's baby shower.

it turns out my niece can't go because she's about to be disfellowshipped at the ripe old age of 14. .

This example highlights WHY parents need to stop pushing their kids into baptism to show them of as trophies. Any parents reading this sad situation with this 14 year old child, need to realise that Watchtower has an extreme punishment policy toward all those disfellowshipped regardless of age or wrongdoing. Shunning will come into effect whether you are 14 or 90 years of age. Shunning will come into effect if you are disfellowshipped no matter what. It doesnt matter how big or small the offence is. Watchtowers Shunning policy doesn't discriminate. If disfellowshipped for robbing a bank, you are shunned. If disfellowshipped for trivialities such as simply not agreeing with a teaching eg 1914...you are shunned. Parents, please don't encourage your child to get baptised into the organisation until they are at least a grown adult and can make their own minds up. I feel very sorry for this 14 year old girl. Christian love does not abuse children in this way!

Question about the new blood card

the child is then given the new blood card which has now tightened things up with respect to lawyers etc.

I just wondered as am holding my own child back from baptism until over 18. I live in the UK and was concerned that this New document held more power legally on the blood issue when it comes to children.

OK......I really need to know the answer to the following question and scenario. Supposing a child at age 14 decides to get baptized. The child is then given the new blood card which has now tightened things up with respect to lawyers etc. Supposing that child is involved in a car accident, is unconscious, has the blood card on him/her. He or she is rushed to hospital, the parents are told that a blood transfusion needs to be administered due to so much loss of blood from the injuries sustained; the parents refuse to give in on the blood issue. Can he or she still me made ward of court? or does this new blood document now override ward of court? I really need to know the answer to this please!
