My brother died last night
by LisaRose ini found out this morning that my brother died last night, he was also an ex jw, 73 years old and died of heart disease and kidney failure.
it was not totally unexpected, as he had been in poor health, but it's a blow, especially as i just lost another brother two years ago.
there were six of us, now only four.

Bohm- I stand corrected regarding radio carbon dating. What I was referring to was radiometric dating of rocks. -

Sir82- As someone who questions everything, I get my kill when archeologists come up with dates based on a simple science test called radio carbon dating. For example, they find a fossil in a rock of some fish they have never seen before. They carbon date the rock and bingo, it's 230 million years old? Where on earth do they come out with these figures?
History can only be counted back in thousands of years by means of evidence such as writings etc. Before that it was prehistory. For me, believing archeologists estimates in years based pn carbon dating would be like believing the overlapping generation teaching

Though I am a believer in the flood. I do admire the fact that you are simply being honest in expressing your views. We need more people like you that can stand up and express ourselves freely than bottling up our thoughts because of fear of man. Your letter was very well written by the way. TE -

What's all the whispering about...during the meetings, what are the brothers saying to one another...is it important? & other stuff
by tor1500 injust wondering, during the meetings, what do the brothers whisper about.
at most of the meetings i see brothers coming up to other brothers during the meetings...always whispering something...you got it i'm nosy...what is it they have to say that's so important during the meeting.
it's not just every now & again, it's all the time.... anyone here been a brother or have privy to what you whispered about ?

Interesting Wallpaper
by NeonMadman inmy wife and i live in a small town in northern new jersey.
there is a building near our house that, many decades ago, used to be the local post office.
it sat idle for many years, but a couple of years ago, some folks bought it and renovated it into a nice little cafe.

So can you pray for others that are not JW's ? Or only JW's
by tor1500 ini'm a witness, so i need to know...can we pray for someone that isn't a jw.
reason i ask, once a friend of mine was going for an operation.
i asked an elder could he pray with her before she goes into the hospital.

When you take the JW blinkers off, you find that Christian love reaches out to people. The prayer of faith makes the indisposed one well. James 5:15
I once attended an Ms and elders meeting where the CO instructed us when praying from the platform to not pray for those who had been missing meetings for a long time. His attitude was if they are not here, why are we praying for them. Totally heartless and unchristian attitude from a CO

by neat blue dog inok, ok, so the actual title of the article released today on jw-org is "young people askshould i get a tattoo?

This could so easily have been the kind of look we see at Bethel today if Judge Rutherford never became president of the wtb&ts
