"If the Earth were just a little bit further from or closer to the Sun, we would all freeze or burn"
by Island Man ini'm sure we've all heard this argument by theists employing the fine-tuning argument.
are you aware, however, of exactly how much this "little bit" really is?
theists would have us think that the slightest change in the distance would have drastic implications for survivability.

Ideas to discreetly identify the awoken among us
by Truthexplorer inok. i know this has been brought up in the past, but i have often wondered who in our halls are awake (for those of us who attend).
there are some i would consider a 'maybe', but no way of ever really knowing.. so here is my idea.
i hope it doesn't sound too masonic,.

Those formula prayers. I want to scream
by stillin inwhen the co is visiting, i think i hear "thank you , jehovah, for this special week of activity" until i want to vomit.. also "jehovah, please remember those sick and afflicted.
we pray that they can make a recovery and be back with us.".
stale, canned, institutionalized garble.

And what was the model prayer Jesus taught 'OUR FATHER' in heaven.....
I personally get annoyed when every prayer is Jehovah this, jehovah that. A/the more accurate version is Yahweh/ Yahveh. B/ it is overly familiar with Elohim ((God). Referring to Jehovah now and again is fine, but it is much more respectful to pray to God by referring to him as Jesus quite rightly said 'OUR FATHER'.

Just a little idea for the sisters, perhaps they could wear a distinct perfume like 'samsara' at gatherings which is not as popular today. That would be a discreet way of saying they are awake :-)

A 'fleshly' sister of a brother (close friend of mine) a number of years back requested me as a friend on FB. Can't remember the exact details, but I remember discreetly joking about 1914. She then opened up that she thought it was all baloney and had stopped attending some time ago and would never return. We talked about various things that were wrong etc. I think she was aware through her brother that I had faded at that time and was fishing.

Every time I see one of them loving their kids, I think....
by jambon1 inevery time i see photos of new jw parents cuddling up to their new babies.. every time i see people giving the parents new baby cards & gifts.. every time i see them having fun with their children.. i think to myself; 'you would shun your kids' .
if they don't end up being jw's.
if they simply publicly declare that they don't believe.

Another one I thought of is to invite a few maybe's out for a game of pool. When asked what drink you want. You ask for a specific drink. You could jokingly say ' Scotch on the rocks...shaken not stirred :-).
On the one hand you are being comical, on the other hand you are giving the message you are awake!?

Hey Rebel,
if the elders are able to spot the awakening brothers, then they too must be awake, but in denial :-)
