Incredible documentary about the exclusive brethren and their extreme shunning policy
by Truthexplorer injust watched this remarkable documentary about the exclusive brethren here in the uk.
their shunning policy is remarkably like watchtowers policy except even more extreme.
its heartbreaking how families are torn apart by such man made policies based on their interpretation of scriptures.

I actually watched this documentary when my daughter came in. She actually showed a little interest in it whilst on her tablet. She asked what it was about. I explained and then popped in the point that, though not as extreme, we also have a similiar shunning policy. I didn't over do it, but mentioned to her that I disagreed with WT's current shunning policy. She just did her teen thing look and went back to her tablet. -

My experience with the people in my hall
by Freeandclear ini've been awake now for about 6 months i'd guess and a member here for a couple of weeks.
it's been eye opening to read other peoples experiences on here and i appreciate all of you.
i've noticed in many, seemingly most, of your comments that you were not treated well at your hall or you have had very negative experiences in the "org" so i thought i'd like to share mine.. in all my time as a jw i have to say for the most part i always loved the people.

My journey as a jw over the past few decades has been a rollercoaster ride. I have been inn some very unloving congs and some genuinly loving congregations For me, people are people. Its like starting a new job, some people are nice, some ok and some who are unfriendly. I have to say though, the elders can impact on the rest of the congregation either in a negative way or in a positive way. I have experienced a lack of love by elders in some halls. yet other halls where the elders genuinly cared for all. BUT I have also seen people beginning to show signs of shunning if you start to step out of line. The dont rock the boat types.....or else!!!!!!! -

An Open letter to the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses (Elders/ Ex-Elders)
by stuckinamovement inif you are an elder or an ex-elder please add a comment.
i hope that the governing body will see this.
it is too bad it has to be on an anonymous forum.

stuckinamovements open letter touches on truths that will continue to hurt. The GB needs to take note and steer their large ship on the right course by setting things straight (to coin a biblical phrase). THIS MAY TAKE TIME, UT CAN AND MUSTBE DONE. Doing so will enable men of principle to be whole hearted and stem the flow of those stepping down as elders and ministerial servants due to much of what has been highlighted in the open letter -

An excerpt from Plato's Republic, the 'Allegory of the Cave'.
by Truthexplorer inan excerpt from plato's republic, the 'allegory of the cave' is a classic commentary on the human condition.
it is a story of open-mindedness and the power of possibility.. .

"If I wasn't born a JW, I would never have become one."
by OneEyedJoe ini've seen it mentioned by a few on the forum that at some point there was a realization that had they not been born a jw, they never would've converted no matter how many times the jws tried to study with them.
this was my experience too, and i'm wondering how universal it is for those that were born-in but eventually left.
i think i started having this thought (more specifically that if i were not born a jw, i would surely have become an atheist by now) in my late teens.

If I had known this was a captive religion, I would never have become a JW. -

I actually enjoy mike and Kim's videos. Was watching them this morning and liked the way they led into their subject. I watch various people on you tube discussing their perspectives on Watchtower. All informative....some good...some not so good. Variety is the spice of life! -

Witnesses killed my friend today.
by WasOnceBlind intoday has been a horrible day.
what began as a day of joy finding out that one of my lifelong friends had her baby, turned into a nightmare when her brother called me to let me know she had passed away after birth.
i was in shock and didn't ask how.

wasonceblind. I am sorry to hear of this tragic loss. It is unbelievable that this is still happening in 2016. Another needless death caused by a publishing companies policy ....so very sad! -

As a pre-awakened MS, I heard of 2 stories that I found very shocking at the time. Please keep in mind, I was following WT blindly at the time and was part of what I thought was the true religion. The first shocking story was when I attended a large meeting for elders and ministerial servants covering our circuit. It was about 20 years ago, and can remember a brother from bethel in UK giving a talk about conduct. He then related how a group of white brothers and a group of black brothers had a stand off at a holiday resort (I think it was centre parks). I am unsure if there had been physical aggression, but there was most definitely intense verbal aggression between the 2 groups. I was completely gobsmacked by what I heard. In fact it really shocked me to the core. The second was again about 20 years ago, when our flamboyant Circuit overseer related to us at the elders and MS meeting that TWO halls in the borders region of Scotland had completely apostisized. basically broke off with Watchtower and conducted there own meetings independently! Did you ever here of stories that shocked you before you were awakened? -

Brooklyn news on sending the elderly packing
by I am a Bible Student injohnny the bethelite on this program talks about the older bethelites being targeted by watchtower.they are getting rid of those at bethel who are 65-87 years old, some being anointed even the widows of former governing body members who gave decades of loyal service time to the watchtower organization.. the reasons the very elderly are being expelled are money in that for their age range they cost so much to cloth, fed, and medicate, having problems from high blood pressure to dementia.
they include persons such as sister henschel whose husband had been a watchtower president and marian sydlik whose parents are long dead.. https://soundcloud.com/rick-fearon/jan-16-2016-johnny-the-bethelite-watchtower-insider-host-his-radio-program-from-brooklyn-ny .
