That's why I prefer minor league sports: reasonable prices, and athletes who aren't overpaid, self-indulgent prima donnas.

I think a lot of his decisions can be explained by the haze of alcohol.
I agree. It was during prohibition, but the booze was pouring in abundance right across the border in Tijuana.
Also, it has been noted that San Diego is about as far as you could get from Bethel/Brooklyn while staying in the US.

The Books That Redefined C.T. Russell's Beliefs
by Maat13 inaccording to wt history, as a youth/young man, ct russell was unsatisfied with a number of explanations he was taught about the bible.
as a result he went on a quest to 'study' the bible himself.
ultimately this led to an organization that now requires its members to read bible aids to help them understand the bible.

Russell was one of many who made prophecies based on the great pyramid, following in the footsteps of Charles Piazzi Smyth ("Our Inheritance in the Great Pyramid").
"In 1891, Pastor Russell published the thrid volume of his famous series Studies in the Scripture. ... A letter from Smyth is reproduced in which the Scottish astronomer praises Russell highly for his new and original contributions." Radiocarbon dating totaly inaccurate before 2000 BCE
by opusdei1972 init seems that this portion was published in the watchtower in the year 1977 (as i have in the spanish version):.
the radiocarbon dating method has been widely accepted by many scientists as showing that humans lived back to at least 50,000 b.c.e.
that conflicts with what the bible says.. but physicist r. brown of andrews university claims that this radiocarbon dating method is highly inaccurate.
-
GLTirebiter
he concludes that radioactive carbon atoms did not exist in the earth's atmosphere in significant amounts before 2000 B.C.E.
The concentration in old material (determined by tree tring dating, for example) offers a strong counterexample to this claim.
Perhaps they want to link this claim with a theory that there was no atmospheric C14 until Jah nuked Sodom and Gomorrah!

What will the next "witness" fad illness be??
by stuckinarut2 inas we know, it seems that many witnesses "suffer" from "illnesses" at times.. now , before anyone scolds me for being insensitive or unfeeling, i am not mocking those who really suffer from illnesses of any sort.
i am having a go at those that jump on the bandwagon of the popular illness, which actually makes real sufferers feel jaded.. i am referring to the way that many witnesses who are actually damaged as a result of the constant "fear.obsession.guilt" of jw propaganda, often seem to "contract the current illness going around", or blame it on that instead of looking at the real cause.. im sure it is a subconcious result of the burdensome pressure of jw life that brings it on.
instead of seeing the draining effect on their lives as being the result of witness life, they will latch on to the next illness going around.. so, what is the latest going to be?.

Voting and elections
by Powermetal4ever ini've been thinking about the fact that jws dont vote in elections.
the main reason for this, i guess is that they shall not be a part of this world and so on.
there was no election in the times of jesus, so yes i understand that it needs an intepretetion, but why is that intepreted that they shouldnt vote?
-
GLTirebiter
The explanation, as I understood it, is that by voting, you share in the responsibility of what the person you elected does.
The explanation I give is that by failing to vote against a candidate or ballot measure, you share the responsibility for whatever harm they may cause. In other words, by not voting you forfeit your privilege to gripe about the government.

In my case, I did tell my family that my (now ex-) wife is a Jehovah's Witness. Because they had no prior experience with the Watchtower, saying that had no immediate impact on their relationship with her. To this day (more than 20 years later), I am still explaining how the Watchtower affects the relationship among the family, and how that affects our children's behavior (also Witnesses). I think it is better to explain why it's nothing personal against them, just that the Watchtower teaches they should not get too close to non-Witnesses. (Though if my ex-wife had followed that teaching more closely we would never have married, and our children wouldn't be here to ignore their "worldly" Catholic relatives on my side of the family!)

According to BBC, the family was found in Spain. The parents are in custody in Spain.
Responding to the claims made in the video, a spokesman for the hospital said: "Our priority has always been Ashya's welfare and we are delighted that he has been found.
"Throughout Ashya's admission we have had conversations about the treatment options available to him and we had offered the family access to a second opinion, as well as assistance with organising treatment abroad."
The charity Cancer Research UK says proton beam treatment is available on the NHS in the UK only for eye conditions.
However, in some circumstances the NHS will pay for patients to go abroad for proton treatment.

A catholic court ordered to attend jehovah's witnesses kingdomhall???
by EndofMysteries ini just saw this news piece, http://www.onenewsnow.com/legal-courts/2014/08/25/catholic-workers-ordered-to-attend-jehovah%e2%80%99s-witness-services#.u_uee_ldv8e.
the ninth u.s. circuit court of appeals has issued a ruling that workers at a home for the disabled must attend a jehovahs witness worship service with patients who wish to attend.. in 2009, california instructed san gabriel/pomona regional center to have staff escort a jehovah's witness patient to services, but two catholic employees objected and sued on the grounds that their faith requires they only attend catholic services.. brad dacus, founder of pacific justice institute, says it's an interesting case.. we have the rights of employees under title 7, which requires reasonable accommodation for the sincerely held religious beliefs of employees, he says.
in this case, arguably that would mean not requiring these particular employees to have to sit in and attend a jehovahs witness church service.. the attorney says employers should do everything they can to meet employees faith needs, but also cannot forget the needs of the disabled in this situation.

Catholics being forced to go to services in a Kingdom Hall, where they will hear such things as:
"(2) WE ABHOR Christendom's adherence to Babylonish teachings, notably those of a triune god, the human soul's immortality, eternal torment in hell, a fiery purgatory, and worship of images--such as the Madonna and the cross...
(4) WE ABHOR Christendom's failure to heed Jesus' messages to the seven congregations at Revelation chapters 2 and 3 in such matters as sectarianism, idolatry, fornication, the Jezebel influence, lukewarmness, and lack of tachfulness."[Watchtower April 15, 1989 page 18]
"...We must hate in the the truest sense, which is to regard with extreme and active aversion, to consider as loathsome, odious, filthy, to detest. Surely any haters of God are not fit to live on this beautiful earth...
...Do we not hate those who hate God? We cannot love thise hateful enemies, for they are fit only for destruction..."[Watchtower October 1, 1952 pages 599 and 600]
How could this not be "hostile work environment?"
Religious Discrimination & Harassment
It is illegal to harass a person because of his or her religion.
Harassment can include, for example, offensive remarks about a person’s religious beliefs or practices. Although the law doesn’t prohibit simple teasing, offhand comments, or isolated incidents that aren’t very serious, harassment is illegal when it is so frequent or severe that it creates a hostile or offensive work environment or when it results in an adverse employment decision (such as the victim being fired or demoted).
The harasser can be the victim's supervisor, a supervisor in another area, a co-worker, or someone who is not an employee of the employer, such as a client or customer.

I hate that pig of an OS!
Windows 8 makes it harder to get any real work done, and wastes your memory space and network bandwidth to support all the "BLING" garbage they shoveled in the system. IMO, it's the "DOS 4" of Windows: an upgrade nobody asked for and adds no real value. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" is a phrase seldom heard in Redmond.
