I actually told her to check out jwfacts.com ...she said she always knew our family was jw's but she never really asked about it (but always wondered). I told her if she were to ask my sister, that she'd be told all the generic/positive stuff...and that jwfacts would have a lot of good info for her. Then I also had to tell her what an "apostate" is so that she doesnt tell my sister that I referred that website.

I have a "worldly" cousin who came into town yesterday from the midwest. She drove a LONG way to come see our family. My sister is shunning me, and its rediculous. My sister is willing to hang out with the cousin (who is more connected to me 'comfortable-wise'). Cousin is wondering why my sister will not hang out with me, but will hang out with her, when we both do the same things (ie- holidays, birthdays, etc).
I'm trying not to make sis look bad, but c'mon, its pretty tough not to do. My sis is an amazing, beautiful person. I didnt even say the word CULT until cousin said thats what it sounds like.
My explanation went like this:
"Well, Im not saying this so you hate my sister. I'm just telling you how I interpret the situation. My sister believes that she is part of what they refer to as THE TRUTH. To her, its the ONLY TRUTH and everyone who is not part of them is "worldly" and not part of God's organization. They believe they are the only true Christians. I was born and raised in this truth , but then I decided that it wasnt for me. So to my sister, I have LEFT THE TRUTH, which is very Satan-Like. Now YOU, my cousin, You've never KNOWN the TRUTH. That is why she will hang out with you. She is hoping that you will see the example she will set in front of you and hopefully you will be drawn to THE TRUTH. She doesnt even realize how condescending she is being...its how they are trained to think. "
Our family has always gotten along great. No crazies. No major alcoholics. Just good 'ol Midwest hospitality. Nobody is jw's except my immediate family. Yet they've always accepted us with open arms. I feel awkward and annoyed that now I"M the one who is bringing the awkardness to the situation. Granted, I dont feel like Im creating it. All I want to do is BE NORMAL! ...celebrate Thanksgiving and Xmas and such.
I just wish this shunning policy would go away. I'm done with the sad phase. Now I'm just annoyed. Thanks for 'listening'.

Ladies - Have you ever thought about shaving your head - all off?
by Lady Lee ini've thought about it.
when i first moved to ottawa i knew a woman who had shaved all her hair off and had tattoos all over her head - bizarre but interesting.. a few actresses have done it and they look fabulous although not all do and i doubt most men would love it.. for you fellows that shave bald - why do ou like it.

I always thought it was funny that Jay Z goes by that name. Yes, I used to be called a Jehovah and just Jehovah . Its part of the cult...so if you hear someone refer to themselves like that, you knew they werent really one

Maybe I didnt clarify correctly ... With everything described in the book, its normal to want all 5 (...just not with the same intensity). In my case, "acts of service" isnt one of the top ones for me. If my laundry gets folded for me, I appreciate it....but dang, I do it all the time for him so whats the big deal?
When I made lunch yesterday, I appreciated that he stepped away from the game and sat at the dining room table to eat with me (quality time). But it didnt really give me the warm and fuzzies.
If you feel equally passionate about all 5, I'd say (IMHO of course)....you may be a bit needy and high maintenance and i'm glad I'm not married to ya. LMAO

Ft. Lauderdale (Griffin Rd.) Assembly Hall
by pubtruth ini'm a little shocked they would go this far, then again jehovah's quickening the pace...?
i was at my last day of the spanish 2-day circuit assembly when they went over the announcements, one of them the economic report.
it did start off good (for them) mentioning last assembly's (district i assume) actual surplus after the operation costs were taken care of.

OMG, I helped build that assembly hall when I was a kid. The one with the pictures on the walls and the little pond out front?
The circuit overseer at the time had a little room that had drums and guitars in it (they lived on the premises but I cant remember their names...it was early 80's). We used to have sing-alongs/get togethers there all the time.

Voices: Chances are your mate fits one category the most, with another as a close second. Chances are the other ones do not matter so much to them. It mainly has to do with how they perceive love and affection. One person may crave compliments, so that is how they perceive everybody is.... when in fact, their mate may not care at all about compliments but feels the most love when his laundry is folded.

I think its very accurate. My husband read it first, and then I did. He did things for me that he himself would appreciate (acts of service)...unfortunately, those are things that I thought he shouldve been doing anyway. And if I gave him a compliment and wondered why it meant nothing to him, I felt discouraged, especially when he wouldnt reciprocate.
It was very eye opening, and helped us to understand each other better. We get along really well now. If I'm ever feeling like Im not getting the attention I need, I say something like "boy I sure could use one of my love languages right now" and he understands and gives me a big hug or compliment. And I try really, really hard to keep the sink and kitchen clean because I know he appreciates it.
Best wishes

What happens to your records if you disappear?
by AwSnap ini lived in another state for awhile, and i'm not sure if my father or congregation had my records sent to a hall near my apartment, despite the fact that i never went to a kh there.
what happens to your records if you are truly inactive and most members dont even know who you are?
do the records get sent to bethel?

Well, I was reproved when I was 17...so I guess I had a committe. Dont remember much about it other than being told that 'I wouldve been stoned to death in the old days' so I should be grateful for the public humiliation announcement instead. THAT is when my fade began...almost 15 years ago. So dont worry about it you say? Yeah, well, THEN I went and married a jw and we're going through his fade and an elder told ME that if I celebrate holidays openly (which I do but havent been 'caught') then 'action' will need to be taken.
I wonder if they'll go through all the trouble to find the congregation, or get them from Bethel.

Ohhh, so my dad probably would not have requested to have them sent over? They'd have to be requested by my new congregation?
Im just confused and would like to know where the heck my records are without raising suspicion. There are a possible 3 Kh's they could be at.
Does Bethel get copies of all records?
