Of course, the conversation was a lot longer...but I also wanted to mention something else I said that I hope they will remember: "I find it frusterating that the jw's find fault with all holidays and "worldly" things, but you've never looked into the origins of your own faith and you're willing to stop talking and associating with me still. AND, if Charles Russel were here today, he would be disfellowshipped for all his beliefs."

I've just lost a Loved one
by AwSnap inthe thing that sucks is that they are very much alive & we are literally less than five miles apart from each other everyday.

I had a long talk with one of my siblings today. I've been getting a really weird vibe lately...today it was confirmed that I will be shunned from here on out from them. I'm not df'd or da'd, but I expressed the fact that I will be starting to be more outward regarding my feelings towards "worldly" holidays and such. I was able to ask if he/she would join the YMCA if there was one in our town...the response was "Probably not, since it represents something that we dont support." So then I was able to say how shocked I was when I went to the official United Nations website & typed in Witnesses in the search box. Sure as $hit there is an official letter saying that the JWs were members of the UN from 1992-2002. (I said a jw had mentioned it to me months ago & I just looked it up to verify). I told him/her that their family will always be welcome in our home, and that if he/she ever would care to know the details of why I feel the JWs are not the truth, he/she can feel free to ask me.
I know I've done the right thing. And I'm willing to go with the emotions that follow. I think most jw's are wonderful, beautiful, caring people who only mean what's best. But I hope those corrupt, hypocritical bastards up in the chosen land of Bethel New York get exactly what they deserve.
I'm going to take some ibuprofen now...my head hurts from crying

My experience at the KH today
by AwSnap ini don't know about you, but i enjoy doing comparisons, especially with wine.
felt like during and after each.
i think the music was intensely different...i really wish i remembered about my video ability on my phone for the 1st song, because the jw's performed their first new song out of the new song book.

On a bright note, I told my jw mom about this experience & she said she'd still treat me the same if I get df'd. lol
On a not-so-bright note: one of my siblings has asked me to come over so we can "talk".
I do not think this is going to go well. In the past, I've been very angry towards the witLesses & then I chilled out for a few years. I am now pretty darn calm about it (and if I want to go to church, I'm gonna go to church and not feel bad about it) & am ready to move on with my life.... Being ME...

Quandry- I think they were raising their hands in the air because they were feeling the tune so much. I think its like when you're at a concert and people start waiving lighters in the air. I think.

For those who researched 607...
by AwSnap indid you use wt dates as well as things found from a secular perspective?
if a witness was researching the 607 dates strictly from watchtower info, would it still become clear they are wrong?
or does the wtbs *make* the dates add up...?

hehe, I'm surprised my thread is still going. I thought everything was answered on pgs 1 & 2. I guess I thought wrong.

MIL comment irritates me...
by AggieNostic inas some may know, my family and i no longer associate with jws - we are neither df'd nor da'd.
we last attended about 4 years ago (seems longer...) anyway, my wife has lunch occasionally with her folks - i never get invited and rarely associate with the in laws - my fil says i have destroyed his family... so tensions are somewhat high and it's quite uncomforable whenever we are in the same room - always nice/pleasant, but very shallow relationship now.. my in-laws attended the international convention in trinidad a couple of weeks ago and while having lunch with my wife last week, my mil made the comment to her that "if we had only attended one of these international conventions, we would never had stopped attending meetings... we would have seen the unity and love among the brothers... etc...".
this really irritates me... we were 38 and 39 years old when we stopped attending - both of us had been pioneers, me an elder... we were deep in the org... and my mil thinks that going to an international convention was the missing element in our spiritual lives?

I would love to tell them both how we truly feel about JWs,but it would hurt them
It would hurt the ones who keep hurting *you* with ignorant statements? I do not advocate hurting people intentionally, so I understand the sensitivity. I'm going through a very similar thing. But I hope you think about your statement & who it really hurts by keeping your life a secret.
and it would be of no benefit.
You sure about that last part? It would be of no benefit to tell them how you feel? Would it be no benefit to express who you truly are?
Best wishes
