  What are the buzz words or trigger for JWs?

  i read steve hassan's book and he mentioned about buzz words or triggers that call out the cult personality of a victim of mind controlling cult.

  when you were in, what triggered you?.

  "Unconditional Love". I've seen so many jw's crings at that word. Makes me cringe to think of them cringing.

  My Daughter Is Having Her Own Apostofest With 30 "Inactive" JWs At A Local Restaurant Saturday Night

  she has planned to get together with all these 35 plus year olds and it originally was going to be about 10, then word got out.. she is calling it "fallen angels"....(my daughter is too funny!

  600 people up and left the DC after the 'apostate' talk?

  an 'apostate' inactive jw in america i know on facebook went to the dc and said fully 600 people left between the end of the apostate talk and the lunch break.

  have any of you who also went to the dc seen something like this happen?

  i apologize for being absent for so long.

  i've got a jw at my house right now (unexpectedly) who is talking to my husband.

  he keeps on bringing up that only jw's have universal love....that if you go anywhere in the world, you can mention you're a witness & you'll automatically be welcomed and accepted by fellow jw's.

  I didn't mean to disappear. Really appreciate what everyone said. The big thing is that it IS superficial. Obviously, the conversation is over since it happened a couple days ago. But we told him we'd back to him on a few topics. To me, it's kind of pointless because he thinks the governing body have the truth, even though he's seen most of their flaws. So nothing we say will be heard. I just wish I was prepared. Instead, I mainly stayed in the kitchen cooking & had a glass of wine. I told my husband about this thread, so maybe get some good pointers from what you've said.

  Thank you for all the responses. At this point, I'd consider myself an ex-ex-jw. So I don't even think about that stuff most of the time. It was very surprising that this conversation happened this evening. It happened by a close family member whose a diehard jw, but he's also very 'cool' with the fact that *I* (not dh) celebrates Xmas and other holidays. He even said he's checked out "apostate" (muwahahaha) websites and such. But the whole 'jw's show universal love' and 'jws are the only religion that dont go to war' are the things that keep him in the faith. Well, and the resurrection.

  There were sooooo many things that were said, but I just didn't even expect the conversation to come up. We weren't prepared. But the conversation WILL continue. Thanks for the input.

He's saying you cannot find that with any other group.

  Help please! Im actually pretending to cook in the kitchen because I had no idea this conversation was going to happen (neither did the hubby). I probably will not chime in tonight, as I am not mentally prepared to argue with the million false things I've heard so far already in the last hour.

  My husband said there are groups that show universal love, but he can't come up with an answer since this conversation was unexpected.

  the wt has been found negligent and ordered to pay $7 million to a vistim of child abuse, plus punitive damages (not yet determined).. the punitive damages may well exceed the $7 million.

  ldrnomo, you are probably correct & it infuriates me. The JWs will just accept it as that, rather than continue to question and realize that it wasn't just one person under Satan's influence. A child/young adult brought "satans influence" to the attention of the ELDERS and THEY condemned the poor kid. UGH.

  TroubledMind, I can't copy & paste with google chrome....but your last sentence are my sentiments EXACTLY. It's nice to be somewhat normal.

  And for your friend to be scared of someone seeing him in the store....it is childish indeed. So sad.

  What drives *ME* nuts is when somebody in my family talks about my sister and her new baby as if she's just one of their buddies.....they don't stop to think that I do not know the person they speak of. She took herself out of my life. And if it was just once in awhile...I'd deal with it. But some people in my family do that all the time! Argh. I've gotta say something to them about it one of these days
