  Despite your reservations with being a JW, did you ever sometimes felt like you accomplished something in field service?

  i've got my fair share of things that irritate me to no end regarding this religion.

  however, i have to be fair.

  i got up this morning, and for some reason i didnt feel overwhelmingly negative about what i was getting ready to do.

  I have to answer no as well. FS was mostly a social gathering and guilt-absolving mission. It always felt like a burdensome obligation.

  Even though the territory consisted of families from various christian backgrounds, most objected to the JW interpretation of the scriptures.

  Toward the end of my FS career, i would only use the bible if i went out. In the D2D ministry, you are there as a representative of JW's and whatever scriptural thought you share with a householder has to be in line with whatever lite the WTBS is currently cranking out. I may feel one way about a bible verse but have to tow the company line for uniformity. And there was always a chance that the person you helped by sharing a scriptural could become interested in learning more. I quit going out.

  My 2 hours is better spent helping persons by donating money and time to organizations in line with my beliefs.

  it's true because it happened to me last night.

  i knew it was trouble when she started looking at my kindle.

  once she got to the short stories i wrote 3 years ago, autobiographical, some of it involving her, i knew i wouldn't be going to bed before 1:00 (it was 11:40 p.m. by then).

  With all do respect to Yknot, who gives really good and loving advice, I don't agree going on a suicide reinstatement mission. You think you are the BOE and your wife's whipping boy now, wait until you have to attend meetings, submit letters and deal with the subtle/overt abuse a DF'd person has to deal with to get back in.

  Your wife is the same person she was before you got DF'd, getting your self-esteem, confidence and pride stomped on for reinstatement will not turn her into the perfect wife.

  Political Neutrality: Required for Servants of God?

  how many here (who are no longer jws) believe that servants of god must be politically neutral?

  i ask, because there are many regular posters who do not participate in political discussions -- ever.

  there could be a wide variety of explanations, but i would like to know if any of you refrain from political discussions and political activity because of your religious beliefs?.

  No to both questions. Even tho I'm fading, I've voted in all elections for the last couple of years without a tinge of guilt.

  Like FF, i work in a political enviroment so I'm not interested in discussing politics on a forum. I usually avoid 90% of the political threads.

  Also, some of the political discussions are volatile. Politics is personal for me, some of the posters on the political threads are too argumentative and narrow-minded. IMO, these discussins are an exercise in futility.

  I'm sorry you are going thru this. Don't cheat just to give her a scriptural divorce, it will only reinforce any negative feelings you have about yourself. Also, leaving her cold will force her to own up to her culpability in the demise of your relationship.

  Dude, I can only echo what others have said on this thread. Her selfishness, lack of empathy, controlling & manipulative behavior and lack of loyalty are astounding. She doesn't respect you in ANY way and without some counseling, this is not going to change.

  It looks like she has been showing you what type of person she really is since 2005. You need to believe that who she is then and now is as good as it gets. You need a plan but you have to get your mind right. Counseling is definately in order, she is sucking the joy out of your life. She knows your weaknesses (self-esteem and depression) and she's playing you. Feel free to PM if you need to vent.

  this was a new piece of information for me reading franz's 2nd book " in search of christian freedom " .

  it's been mentioned here on the board that jehovah's witnesses use the occasion of a funeral to promote wt society ideas and thinking .

  you will notice this in this experience.

  pierce, tied the overlap theory directly to fred franz's lifetime.. did anyone else catch this?.

  evidently (and i'm paraphrasing), anyone anointed after franz's death in 1992 is not of the 'generation'.. 5th.

  This is me speculating, I know they used FF as an example to illustrate this Generation bs. So..

  When does one become anointed, at baptism or when he/she gets an 'epiphany' as described in Rom 8:14-16? I don't know when Barr was baptized, but technically wouldn't he be part of the 2nd generation overlapping the 1st because at age one he certainly could not discern the sign of 1914.

  considering the fact we've had so many newbies here i thought it would be good to just open it up to you folks to see how life is going for you since you exited the witnesses ?

  it's hard many times to move on- however with lots of ex-witnesses on the board here who have been through similar experiences - perhaps those of us who have been out awhile can give you someideas on how to move on in your post jw life to make it a little easier .

  so fire away newbies and recently exited jw 's.

  Was Freddie was the last one to die from the first generation? If he was, then 1992 could be implied cut-off. Any person included in the second generation overlap would have to be anointed before 1992. My brain hurts....
