i was wondering where (articles or books) the wt teaches that if you start a study & then stop, you become "bad association" and are treated almost like a df.
is this anywhere in the literature, or is it only an unwritten practice?
in the dictionary of jw-ese (http://www.cftf.com/dictionary/index.html#b), it says the practice has been discontinued, and i am wondering what an active jw would say about it if i asked.
Anyone not a JW is considered bad association. There's not anything in the literature regarding persons who discontinue their bible study being 'labeled' bad association, it's implied that because you didn't progress to baptism.
Back in the olden days, persons labeled as 'disapproved associates' was announced from the platform much like disfellowshipped persons are today. That practice was discontinued in the late 80's.
in talking with my mom the other day and we started talking about the #of congs.
that are meeting in the hall that i went to.
she goes to a double hall where 10 congregations attend.
They are merging congs. Not enough competent men, young ones leaving and the publishes left attending are old, poor and/or ill.

but i called that crazy canadian chick the other day....god i love her voice and personality...and if you ever get to call or see mouthy...go for it!!!

The social structure of JW prohibits unmarried men and women from being friendly and/or dating unless they are planning to get married. Women studying with men is frowned upon, she probably got a good talking to by her elders. Passing you off on another congregation was done intentionally to keep you to apart. These brothers are sizing you up to see if you really want to become a JW or they are trying to see if you are trying to get with your friend.
Personally, I think it's a bad idea to study for woman. Especially if you don't know if she feels the same for you.

In PA, a refusal is an automatic one year license suspension at the time of arrest. If convicted, another one year license suspension.
