read the article more closely. here is the crux:
Identical bills in both houses of the New York State Legislature would require all New York–based websites to “remove any comments posted on his or her website by an anonymous poster unless such anonymous poster agrees to attach his or her name to the post.”
the state of new york can only enforce this law on any website that is hosted on an ISP WITHIN the state's jurisdiction. last i checked, new york state is a pretty small place compared to the rest of the world.
is this site hosted in new york state? if not, simon can tell them to get lost as they would be unable to enforce the law. especially if the website was hosted OUTSIDE the usa.
besides, if you read further you see why they are doing it:
Finally, the legislation will help cut down on the types of mean-spirited and baseless political attacks that add nothing to the real debate and merely seek to falsely tarnish the opponent’s reputation by using the anonymity of the Web. By removing these posts, this bill will help to ensure that there is more accurate information available to voters on their prospective candidates, giving them a better assessment of the candidates they have to choose from.
has nothing to do really with so-called internet bullying but more to do with them trying to control information for the voting public.

Any more fond (not so) DC memories?
by outsmartthesystem inmy oldest child was barely 4 months old and not an easy baby.
she cried all the time....and getting her to sleep during the day was a pain.....especially in a facility that was 80 degrees with a/c.
on sunday afternoon of the dc....knowing we had a two hour drive home (she also didn't sleep in the car well).....i went to an "off limits" area with her.

and the attendants .. remember when they encouraged all the young brothers to reach out and be attendants? well i wanted to wear my sherrif's badge too. then one year i got my wish ...
... and got assigned bathroom duty.
this poor special-ed kid comes in, takes down his pants and uses the urinal for something it was not designed for .. he fell off and .. well do i need to paint a picture? it was EVERYWHERE
i turned in my attendant badge and went home.

i cant really think of any other than visiting with friends. the talks and dramas were always stupid. especially the symposiums. omfg lolwut! BORING! 2 or 3 guys that cant speak well sitting up and discussing some stupid subject ...
actually i just thought of a fond memory ... one year these people were sitting behind us and CONTRARY to what the idiots on the platform said, they had FOOD DURING THE PROGRAM!!!! OMFG BURN THOSE HEATHENS!!! Well the reason it is a fond memory is because the idiot sister gives her 2 year old a FULL thermos of milk ... in stadium seats .. not long later
*sploooosh* milk all over my sister in law ... soaked ...
and the idiot didnt even apologise lol
it is a fond memory because we got to leave early that day :)

"You will live where you are told to live!"
by irondork inone of our most dogmatic, authoritarian elders at the congregation i used to attend made this comment.. .
the wts has beat the drum of absolute authority so long and hard that the idea of free will, or even the notion of a god who might take in to consideration the wants, likes, and desires of his own people has been strangled out of the jw psychology.. .
in one of his talks, brother that's final informed the congregation that it is pointless for us to engage in speculation about how our lives will be in the new system.

sounds like brother that's final went beyond the scriptures and ran ahead of jah's chariot .. tsk tsk

Some observations on Animal Farm by George Orwell
by WinstonSmith ini recently finished reading animal farm, written by george orwell.
as someone who has recently awoken to the truth about the truth, this book blew my mind.
the parallels with the watchtower society are quite astounding.

and one of the most famous ones: "all animals are equal .. but some animals are more equal than others"
this is certainly true with the JWs ... GB, DOs, COs, Elders and MS get better treatment than the average RF witless .. unless ofc that one happens to be a famous one

Did anyone find the movie The Grey slightly offensive?
by Chemical Emotions inits portrayal of grey wolves was horribly inaccurate.
it will probably lead to an even more negative attitude toward wolves, which puts them in more danger.
i believe i read that the creators bought dead wolves while producing the movie.. its main characters' philosophizing was pretentious, cliched, and insulting to my intelligence.

meh .. its just fiction. fiction isnt required to be factually accurate. that is why it is fiction.
the real problem isnt the misrepresentation of wolves. the real problem is that the majority of people nowadays are too stupid and/or non-thinking to understand that fiction isnt real.
you should be happy that you are not one of those people and can see thru the fiction.
