I'm paraphrasing slightly, but the first quote that really made me scratch my head was from the Young People Ask Book in the chapter on either homosexuality or premarital sex: 'Some people claim that the Bible's standards are outdated, but why would you listen to such closed-minded thinking!"

Watching Rocky Horror for the 1st time
by rebel8 inand it's weird.. it's one of those things i was afraid to do post-dubbery because it was supposedly evil.
once i got over that, i kind of forgot to see it.. evil it's not.

The live action shows are a lot of fun... Though depending on where you go, your first time you might end up face humped by a cast member in his underwear... I was lucky enough to know people so that they went a bit easier on me.

Judge no one!
by free2beme ini have noticed the older i get, that society as a whole has really focused on one central message in the world.
which to me is this, "judge no one for anything, and let people do what they want.".
while some will speak up about the wrong of others (excuse me, wrong is kind of a judgement word).

Is it judge no one or punish no one? It's been my impression that the social stigma is not so much on judgement as on legislation of personal moral bias on things that do no harm to anyone (with the possible exception of harm to the person that is doing it). People can judge all they want.
EDIT: Also, doing things that infringe on the rights of others because of your personal judgements.

Those of us who left the WT for less than noble reasons
by Aussie Oz insometimes i feel like a second class apostate...not that anyone has ever said anything to make me feel that way, i just do, you know what i mean?.
i left the jws because i just couldn't fight my flesh anymore.
the battle inside was going to kill me literally.

I left because I was going insane from the sexual repression and loneliness. I had to choose between who I was (OMG PRON!) or who I thought I should be... and finally decided to be who I was. I don't think it gets much less noble than that. :-P Of course, I'm thankful that I did... I don't think I had the brain cells to get out of the religion otherwise.

JWs Depression and Suicide
by 00DAD insince jehovah's witnesses supposedly have "the truth" and are part of god's visible organization living in a "spiritual paradise" you would naturally expect that they should be the happiest people on earth!
this clearly is not the case.
wha happened?

I have met someone who while they were in experienced hallucinations to the point that at one point they thought that they had murdered their entire family. They were diagnosed schitzo-affective, or whatever they call it these days, and shortly after leaving the Lie the symptoms disappeared entirely.
