witnesses teach that when you learn the "truth", you finally have a purpose in life.. when some witnesses decide to leave the religion, they might experience an emptiness because they realize now that their way of life really was totally a sham.. are jehovah's witnesses right about those that leave the organization no longer having a purpose in life?.
Having a purpose sounds like a bit of a tall order. You're specifically put on Earth to do this and this? You mean that has to come first, before everything else? And I don't necessarily get to pick what that purpose may be? No thanks.
If you find one, and it suits you, beautiful. Some people need and want that kind of direction/structure in their lives. I don't want a purpose. I've got too many other things I want to do.

if so, are we fated to be the bad evil slave?.
if the bible prophecies that there will be an 'evil slave that falls away and beats his fellow slaves because the master is delaying' doesn't that mean that someone has to fulfill that prophecy otherwise the prophecy would be false?

I don't feel my life has a purpose. I'm completely satisfied with that. I'd sooner be purposeless than be an annoying snob pressing magazines and cult-think on everyone I know.
just wondering if anyone here left the org without ever looking at anything on the net and if so how did it happen for you?.

I didn't actually start doing any internet research abut JWs until after I was long gone. I was disillusioned enough with Jehovah that just doing research on other religions did it for me.
its been a while since i've posted, i've been swamped.
btu a question came up today at work and i could think of no better place to answer that question than here at jwd.. in the lord's prayer it says " lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil" ok so the question is why does it say not to lead us into temptation when god wouldn't lead his children into temptation?.
now in my opinion this is just another typo that proves that men wrote the bible.
Still makes no sense to me since obviously the prayer is directed to god.

came accross this website, clearly set up by a jw .
it firmly states that the bible over wheamlingly supports 607 not any other date at all!
and that if any other date eg 587 were to be used, it would make a mockery of the whole bible!.
They lost me at "A postates and other opposers".
it's been a few years, i had some time to spare and it was there.
not considering the actual message, here is what hit me, hard:.
the font is larger than that used by any secular publication that one would consider intellectual.. the language is so basic that it would bore the educated but would be embraced by those who were "simple" or perhaps mentally challenged.it alsowould not promote thinking as their was so little substance.. i then checked an awake and it is much the same.
You've got to use a third-grade reading level when you discourage education for your members. So sad.
of course this has been hashed and re-hashed as all of you know the feb. 15th wt is re-directing jw's to read the title of rutherford's talk as " millions now living may never die.
" however in reading crisis of conscience a second time - i found it interesting to see what ray franz said about this quote.. remember he wrote this book in 1983 , so keep it in mind when reading his quotes about this " millions " quote.

I LOVE the dedication: "This book is dedicated to the people now living on Earth who desire life, liberty and happiness." Why would you dedicate a Witness book to people who would never join?
he's already celebrated this last thanksgiving with me and today he asked me if i have any new year resolutions.
i told him no, i hadn't given it much thought.
he said he did and i asked him what they were.
I hope he's moving away from the Witness teachings instead of demonstrating the double standards they hold. *crosses fingers for you and yours*
