I would make it totally a legal letter. By you mentioning disassociation, you are in effect, giving them permission to disfellowship you.

I was going to say something along the lines of that!!! The letter, although VERY good and precise, is 'personal'...and once you make it a personal issue, that is also how they can respond back to you - by 'personally' deciding to disassociate you. It continues to amaze me how BOLD some JWs are - and downright pushy. It's as if they just have no 'societal boundaries' that click when it comes to others. You don't just 'stop by' someones home all willy-nilly like that, constant calling, emails inquiring into your business...that kind of things (on the street) could get your butt kicked. -hahahahha.

I would recommend writing the letter as business/legal as possible - a Cease and Desist letter:

On (xx/xx/2010), Bro. XYZ from XXX Congregation/Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness, contacted me through (phone call/email/text/unannounced visit) about my attendance at the meetings. After initially discussing my health issues with him, I do not believe that I legally owe any further explaination of said inactivity, and I have asked that to be respected.

Criminal harassment is defined as "engag(ing) in intentional conduct which the actor [harasser] knows or has reason to know would cause the victim, under the circumstances, to feel frightened, threatened, oppressed, persecuted, or intimidated; and causes this reaction on the part of the victim. (M.S. § 609.749, Subd. I). Such conduct can include following or pursuing you, returning to your property without your consent, making repeated phone calls, inducing you to make calls, causing your phone to repeatedly ring, repeatedly mailing or delivering unwanted letters, objects, or gifts to you.

Please provide this letter to all involved so that they may have notice of my request.

Finally, Cease and Desist from contacting me (directly or indirectly), also all friends/family associated with me, in this and any and all related matters. I demand to only be contacted via United States Mail or through email, and only then to inform me of any emergency. Continued contact (except for US mail/email) will result in me taking legal action by notifying the authorities and also filing a formal complaint with the police department.

I was always embarrassed by this when I invited someone to the convention.

Me too! My uncle came years ago...and I remember being SO excited about it (having a non JW relative stop by)!!! But then as I watched his face, dude was bored out his MIND - and frankly - I was bored TOO. Always felt they never were realistic (just like ALL the experiences from the platform). Shoot, they were probably smart not to put me on stage (I'm such a ham)...I probably would've kept it TOO real.

had no idea what to do with their hands so they would move them up and down like they were trying to air-dry them for EVERY. SINGLE. SYLLABLE.

HAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh my God - ur right! And when they would say "Jehovah" - they would always sort of lean back, look up in the air, and throw both arms up - like that they were about to do jump jacks!!!

First off - let me just say that your pictures are HOT!! Oh my God - if I knew u back then (wasn't born...sorry) I would've hung out with you.

Ended up reading your WHOLE story, and it was eye-opening and just amazing. I like hearing the ins/outs of Bethel and how people REALLY were treated...not the stupid 'happy go lucky' stories we always here when they come give talks at the Khall. It just solidifies that fact that JWs are NOT all they think.

Despite growing up a JW I was always curious WHERE this corny plays came from? My best memories of them were when they USED to turn the lights out in the convention center - cause that meant I could SLEEP!!! -hahahaha. But seriously, who writes them? Who choose who the voices will be? I know for a fact that the 'actors' in the dramas are part of some fame contest...I say that becaues about 3yrs ago, the P.O. (back then) of my cong was assigned as the Drama Coordinator - and he gave HIS entire family (2 boys and 1 girl + their 3 cousins, also in our cong) the lead roles, while his kids picked all their friends to play the supporting roles! I remember thinking "are you kidding me? all these young people in our circuit and he gave the privilege to his family only?" Of course I thought it was a privilege back then - but after that situation, learned it was nothing more then a cheap acting popularity contest.

Besides, i'm too sexy for a drama. Those belted potato pouches they wear can't hold all THIS 'hotness' in. Brothers throwing their boxers on stage and screamin my name - ugh - would've been SUCH a distraction...hahahahahaha.

so yesterday i end up having a nice evening with old friends who used to be in my congregation years ago.

i always loved this family, and thought we were pretty close.

what was meant to be a 'drop by - say hi' ended up being a 3hr visit!!

Well, my gf was good friends with this JW neighbor...honestly, she helped nurse this JW back to health after having surgery all of 8 mos ago!!!! The JW neighbor is the 'bored housewife' type and felt comfortable enough to stroll in and out of my gf's house (since it's right next door) whenever she felt like it...after my gf had surgery, it just so happened that SAME day I was coming by with food, this JW neighbor had helped herself in the house to visit with my gf (who had her non-JW family visiting there at the same time)!

Now apparently, the elder started coming at my girls MOM (who lives with her) and questioning HER about my gf's whereabouts! My gf spoke up and told them that they needed to leave her mom out of it - and that if they wanted to know something they needed to speak to HER. I told her that when they asked her "is there anything else you want to make us aware of?" that they were setting her up...they have knowledge of something and wanted to basically catch her in a lie or motivate her to confess. Also, as mentioned, the whole "this is serious" is nothing more then a threat - and I'd be damned if some lowlife elder gunning for circuit work (whom is known for having abusive tendencies) is gonna warn ME about who I talk to and scold me like some child! Gf told the elders that she knew they were only doing what they had to do but that as an adult, she has to do the same!

Gf and I hav had discussions about 'the truth' and she has admitted that there's a lot she knows isn't true and doesn't agree with things - but again, the FEAR of getting Df'd and losing the routine she has been accustomed to, is too much to bear. Although the JW neighbor was told (by my gf) that she really had no right to 'tattle' - especially since she lives in a glass house!

So yesterday I end up having a nice evening with old friends who used to be in my congregation years ago. I always loved this family, and thought we were pretty close. What was meant to be a 'drop by - say hi' ended up being a 3hr visit!! But it was refreshing because I found out that they are inactive and also I got to be open about my feelings on the 'truth' and my whole situation...I left there feeling GOOD. IT's a cool feeling to know someone else understands how I feel - they get it, ya know?

I get home around 10pm and one of my gf's sends me a text (she is an active JW but still has stayed close to me despite my DFing). She said "had a mtg w/elders 2nite. I will call u 2morrow bout it." Immediately I get nervous because a few days before her mtg, she needed my help for an errand. While we're talking in the car, she tells me that her neighbor (who is a JW) questioned whether or not my friend still has contact with me and I'm reinstated yet? My gf has major surgery (same one I had 3 mos ago) and so when she went home, I made her meals (for she and her mom - who live together) and dropped them off. Well, when I walked in - and I was invited to stop by - this JW neighbor was sitting in the LR. I didn't speak to HER, walked right by and handed my friends the food then walked right out. Mind you, this JW neighbors husband is now inactive - and makes it clear he has no interest in going back. Anyhow, turns out that this neighbor spoke to the elders about my gf having me come over...also about her Facebook friends (some of them are DF'd too)...and how a 'male' comes to the house regularly (my gf is dating him and he is NOT a JW). Gf told me she KNEW when the elders were hounding her about coming over and having a mtg, that it was more then likely over this sister 'tattling'...and of course it was!!! The 2 elders that show up are both acquaintances of mine - the one used to be my best friend whom I dated for a short while (didn't work out cause he has no personality and I really wasn't attracted to him so I broke it off). Well, my gf said that only the 1 elder told her that they understood that she was having association with DF'd individuals, and that it is a BAD influence on HER. They lectured how they need to keep the KHall clean, and they asked her point blank if she will stop associating with me - she said YES (to placate them). Before leaving, the same elder told her "This is serious counsel you DO understand that, right? Dealing with an unclean individual who is no longer under the protectiono f the cong is SERIOUS." The entire time, the other elder (that I used to be close to) never said ONE WORD. According to her, he just reminded her about her obligation to Jehovah....

She called me today and we talked about the whole thing again, and she said that she said that she is TIRED of how all JWs feel they can be in your business - no matter how personal! ANother point she made was that this sister NEVER came to her and talked to her about her plan to approach the elders...she just went behind her back and did it. Lastly, she thinks it's ironic that my old friend - the elder - had nothing to say because she knows he has always had feelings for me and has asked her before how I'm doing as do TONS of the JWs in the circuit - cause they all knew me and continue to check up on how I am. I think it's so pathetic that a religion REALLY can make people afraid of talking to others...seriously? I don't bite - hahahahahaha - and I am not 'unclean' by hygienic standards. hahahaha. So for 2 men to sit and tell a grown WOMAN that she needs to stop talking to whomever she wants ... well...that's JWs for ya.

one of the great lessons this board gave me is the cruelty of shunning by the jehovah's witnesses.

it is inhuman.

the toll it takes on a person cannot be underestimated.

I'm sorry...I didn't meant to HIJACK your thread!!! I guess I just got off track in my post...no offense meant to ANYONE. I mean, the lonliest I felt was AFTER being DF'd - and that was solely because all the JWs i thought were friends - couldn't/wouldn't talk to me anymore or even want to be around me at all. It really messed with my head.

DFing comes down to nothing more then abuse...emotional blackmail. IT's cruel, and it boils down to playing GAMES with peoples lives/emotions - and NO God I believe in would approve of that.

I am a MAJOR extrovert! Always had tons of associates inside/outside the org, and so leaving was hard - but socially, I probably came out 'on top'! A lot of people do end of leaving the org with no social backing...and so they leave a bad situation TRULY alone and without anyone to talk to, bounce ideas off of, cry to, etc. It's SAD!

Kinda ironic, but when I told my parents that I was getting DF'd, my mom was the most upset. She later told me that she spoke to the elders who made the decision and BEGGED them to rethink their judgement because she KNEW I had a lot of associates OUTSIDE the org, and my NOT being able to associate with JWs meant I would probably never come back! LOL - hahahaha - little did she know she CALLED that one!
