Dear SweetBabyCheezits, what an interesting post you've written! I read it with lots of interest and anticipation of the end, and I wasn't disappointed. You are very honest and objective throughout the whole account. Thanks for joining and contributing to this board. I don't have many suggestions as far as opening the eyes of family members is concerned. I myself am struggling with my brother and sister; I just can't understand how on earth they don't see it with all the proofs and reasonings I'm presenting to them -yet, they are otherwise quite reasonable-. Sometimes they seem to understand and my hopes raise, but then they take a step backwards again. Oh well, maybe it'll be like the tide, that advances slowly even if it's not obvious to the observer. I wish you all the best.

A, uh, belated introduction
by SweetBabyCheezits inquick bio: born-in, third gen jw, devout family, dad an elder/po, mom pioneered off/on, baptized at age 10 (my elder dad asked me to wait but i didnt), had overall good childhood, toured bethel, aux pio off/on, finished hs early, reg pio for a year then pio school, met amazing jw girl (also third gen devout), spent a year in community college (paid for by fairly conservative jw parents), got a good job, married amazing jw girl, appointed as ms, delivered public talks and parts on ca/dc, wife and i had first child.
it was a near-storybook jw life (except no bethel).
i had a couple of normal issues in teenage years, but sought the assistance from the elders and ironed it out.

In my eyes, you are an honest, brave and wise man, Elderelite. Sticking around the organization once you've seen the whole picture just for the sake of gaining your wife and kids requires in many cases much more courage, resilience and willpower than getting out of it from one day to the next. Congratulations to you.

Did you really pay attention at conventions or assemblies?
by donny ina co-worker of mine whose family (2 daughters, wife) are jw's related a funny story yesterday.
his wife and daughters missed the friday portion of the convention last week in order to attend a wedding of a worldly relative.
at dinner she mentioned to him that she would go to the convention this friday to make up for the one she missed.. he then asked why and she said so she could get the information she missed.

Cantlleave, I remember a bomb scare at a Southampton assembly I attended about 30 years ago. Could it be the same one? They made us leave quietly (we were so proud of ourselves being so exemplary in leaving in such an organized way), then we waited for a few hours and finally the assembly programme was resumed. It finished very late in the evening!

Goodbye Everybody!
by drew sagan instartfragment.
after thinking things over i have realized that the time has now come for me to say goodbye to jwd.. some personal reminiscing about all of the people i have enjoyed talking with on jwd reminds me why it is time to go.
simply speaking, most of my good friends are no longer here.

Dear drew sagan, it made me very sad to read your goodbye. I wish you all the best.
Don't worry about Narkissos. He's perfectly happy in Paris with his wife and child. He left for the same reasons as you, and, aren't those the best reasons?
Hugs from Spain.

Reading peoples hearts
by highdose inhi.
this is inspired by another thread, but heres something that always bugged me.... if god wanted to know if abraham really was faithful... then why didn't he use his abilty to look into his heart and find out?
instead of putting the poor man and his son through a near death/ murder situation??

Dear Tammy, I clicked on Topics started by Notacaptive and couldn't find any related one either, so I'm glad you've directed me to the link.
I'm very curious to read your correspondence, Notacaptive, and the answers you were given by the brothers. Hugs, OLGA.

Dear Tammy, I'll definitely look into what Notacaptive has to say about this subject. I'm genuinely interested in understanding what other ways of considering this account can possibly satisfy other reasonable people. Any thread titles you can remember in particular? By the way, I've been wanting to tell you I find you a very sweet and brave person.

I left exactly one year ago after 45 years in, and I only discovered you three months later. I'm very proud I took the step relying exclusively on my inner voice... Having said that, I must give you a gigantic Thank you, for meeting you was one of the best presents life has granted me.
