  I think the elder's advise would go something like this:

  Englishman, as you know, in the Bible we are told at Colosians 3:5&6 to,
  Deaden, therefore, YOUR body members that are upon the earth as respects fornication, uncleanness, sexual appetite, hurtful desire, and covitousness, which is idolatry. 6 On account of those things the wrath of God is coming.
  Now Englishman, as you see, putting your weewee in a blowup doll would be unclean sexual appetite so God will bring his wrath upon you. In a couple of days, me and two other elders will come over and have a hearing on your behavior.

  LET'S MAKE A LITTLE WAGER

  perhaps you recall the instance in the bible where samson made a wager with the philistines that they couldnt guess his riddle.

  as it turned out they wheedled the answer out of him by his fiancee, but the point is that they had a wager.

  since the underlying assumption of the apostasy is that we are not living in the last days of this system of things, and that this world is not facing anything remotely like the biblical apocalypse, at least not any time soon, in the spirit of such antagonism, i would like to propose a similar wager.

  I thought that Jehovah would release his four winds, locusts, water turning to blood and other stuff that Revelation speaks of. My bible does not say anything about the Taliban, and the Stock Market. The Stock Market will rebound, it always does. So what if it lost 10% of it's value in one week. What happened in New York City is terrible to say the least, but in the big picture the world is still here and life will continue.

  God's image

  we are made in god's image and he is a person, not just some invisible, omnipresent force.

  here is some more research for those who love to ask questions yet won't do the digging.. the bible consistently portrays god as a passionate individual, whose inner experiences of love, compassion, grief, delight, joy, peace, anguish, and moral outrage at atrocity dwarf ours in the extreme.

  the bible makes no apology for this, but rather exults in the living one, in contrast to the dead and lifeless idols that surrounded its writers.. one scholar put it thus:.

  do they seriously endorse living from paycheck to paycheck as spiritually meritorious, a responsible mode of living for heads of families with mortgage/rent payments, child support, health insurance, car payments, utility bills, a food budget, etc.

  all this after they ``stack the deck'' against self-sufficiency and independence for the average jw famnily head by discouraging university education or other forms of specialized education so vital in today's complex economy.. that's why so many, even while professing loyalty and submission to the fds quietly come to terms on their own.

  I have faith in the KM. After all I read that the world is ending very soon. You can find this information in the latest 1920? (pick a date) Watchtower. It told me that the new system is just around the corner! Oh, I am so happy to have the truth!

  I can't believe this stupid thread still exists. I figured You Know would want this thread to die before everybody remembered his stupid bet. I wonder if You Know will make this same bet next year. He has every year so far.

  I think that will be my bet for everybody. I bet that next year You Know will make this same bet, or one similar to it. Any takers?

  The Bible advances women's rights

  our forum's now chapter likes to slander christian believers over alleged poor treatment of women.

  in truth, the bible advanced women's rights in the ancient world, even in a paternalistic society.

  here are the results of research into this topic.. num 5.12--the trial of bitter waters (sotah) is a an amazing provision by god for a woman to publicly clear her name (and indict a dysfunctional husband in the process).

  Poor Rex, he looses another debate on women in the Bible. The bible has almost no respect at all for women. Here is a quick observation of the debate.
  Rex) The bible loves women, theory, twisted words, blah, blah, blah.
  Everybody Else) Rex, you are wrong, proof, proof, and more proof.
  Now I am not saying don't read the Bible and worship God. By all means, help yourself. But don't tell me that the Bible has such a high regard for women. It is obvious that women are treated as secondary citizens in the bible.

  the fourth paragraph on page 30 in the october 1, 2001 wt says this:.

  "getting back to paul's statement in hebrews, we note that he pointed out that "there remains a sabbath resting for the peoples of god," and he urged his fellow christians to do their utmost "to enter into that rest.

  " this shows that when paul wrote those words, "the seventh day" of god's rest, which had started some 4,000 years earlier, was still in progress.

  I am sure some new light will flash before their eyes to cover this one back up. I doubt the average Joe Bookbag will notice this one though. Most JWs I know barely even look at what they are reading. Since independent thought is taboo, most just accept whatever is said and that is as far as it goes. If the writing department wanted to fix this flaw, I would suggest they consult the spirit like Rutherford.
