Welcome Gretchen and Happy Birthday. I am so glad I have not worked with any Jehovah's Witnesses who know I was once one. Life is so much easier without them.

LATEST WT Study Articles Are All About the WOMEN!
by Funchback inwomen still can't handle mic's, count money, count attendance, or give public talks.
"in the first century, some of (the women in the bible) had the privilege of ministering to jesus an his apostles.
("cook that lamb and wash the wine jugs, toots!").

I too agree with Gumby, the Bible is where any religion gets it's ideas about how to treat women. It's just Jehovah's Witnesses take it to a level just short of how Islam fundamentalists treat women.

Noah...that drunken boat builder?
by shotgun ini've learned a ton on this forum and elsewhere which pretty much disproves noah's global flood to me personally?.
long before this as a dub though one thing always bothered me about the account and how unreasonable it seemed even if you discount the animals.. .
noah had three sons in 600 yrs (noah got it even less than me), his sons did not have any children before the flood.

A point I have never considered, but a good one. Women in those days would have had to give birth to triplets and more every year in order to have "nations" in about 120 years. Simply could not have happened even with modern fertility medicine.

hahaha!
Oh and it the Gentile Times was even easier to explain in the Live Forever book. I remember the person who conducted my personal book study couldn't wait to get through it and hoped I didn't have any follow-up questions about it.

it is "heaven" and "earth" together which constitute the "world" % FDS
by garybuss inthere is first here given the scriptural definition of "world", and then the proof that satan controls the world, and why a change of world control must shortly come to pass.
"world" means the peopies of earth organized into forms of government, under the supervision of an invisible power or overlord.
in the bible the word "heaven" is used to represent the invisible part of that rule, while "earth", as there used, means the visible power that rules, and it is "heaven" and "earth" together which constitute the "world".

Hmmm, hasn't there been "New Light" on this subject since 1934? Seriously, if Satan was sent to the Earth in August 1914, and Jesus is now in charge in Heaven, why do Jehovah's Witnesses still want to be no part of the world if Jesus is now the ruler of the world? Further Jehovah's Witnesses still say Satan is the ruler of the world, so how could this be if Satan is on Earth. Just based on this paragraph the society still looks confused as to who is ruling the world, Jesus or Satan.
Then again, like an Elder once told me, "It is like when the United States elects a new President. The old administration is still in power while the President sets up his advisors." If that were the case, why has it taken 89 plus years to get his rulership in order?
And then you have what Genesis says about Heaven and Earth:
Then God proceeded to make the ezpanse and to make a division between the waters that should be beneathe the expanse and the waters that should be above the expanse... And God began to call the expanse Heaven... And God began calling the dry land Earth...And God went on to say: "Let luminaries come to be in the expanse of the heavens to make a division between the day and the night... Thus god put them in the expanse of the heavens to shine upon the earth.
Then of course you have John 3:16, "For God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son... That brings up a whole new question, If God loves the world so much, why would he hate the ruler of it? Why not leave things the way they are?
Again, it seems the Society does not know what it is talking about, but what else is new.
I would like to see more of the text surrounding this quote.

WT's Airplane Damaged -Again- Visiting Another Fishing Lodge
by Gerard inthe watchtower's luxurious aircraft was damaged the first time in 1995:
http://www.ntsb.gov/ntsb/brief2.asp?ev_id=20001207x03587&ntsbno=anc95la077&akey=1
"on june 12, 1995, at 1530 alaska daylight time, a wheel equipped cessna 402b airplane, n710ws, registered to and operated by the watchtower bible organization and tract society, collapsed its nose gear while taxiing back after landing.

Gerard,
Very interesting! I once worked for Cessna's main competitor Raytheon Aircraft (Beechcraft) and I think I learned more from you last couple of posts about aircraft maintenance and flight than I learned in the six years I worked for Raytheon. Not a big shock.
I wonder what kind of excuse the Watchtower Society has for this one. Perhaps they could say they were in Alaska looking for the KING OF THE NORTH.

Before we get too carried away...a note of caution.
This story was told to me circa 1992. It probably started right here in the Kansas/Oklahoma/Nebraska area. The story is a bunch of crap.
I want to stress it is the same EXACT story I heard some ten years ago. If this story was true, this child would be about 17 years old.
