I think that If I were your age and still in school I would try to stay and help others. I felt I had to leave rather abrutly since I had a child and did not want him exposed to it.
I think being calm and rational, formulating a long term exit plan and a path to help your brother would be in your best interest. It sounds to me that if you leap too soon the emoational upheavel my be too much.
I'm sure by now you have read many experinces on this message board. Many are bad, but some are good.
I think in partucular I read the reddit message board where there are lagre percentage of younger people, the common advice is to finish school, use the time to make outside friends and have a place to land when you leave.

Apostate: From 279 Facebook friends to 81 overnight... thanks MOM!
by sosoconfused inthe drama continues, i log on to facebook this morning and notice that i have about 20 some odd personal messages from people calling me an apostate to they will return to me when i return to jehovah.. all of this based upon my brother informing others that i have "apostate thoughts".
my mother also encourage long-time famil friends to "unfriend" me because i have taken my stand on the side of satan... wow.
don't you just love this international brotherhood.

So sad what people are capable of based on second hand iformation. My sadness for you yet, while it may be hard to see righ now, I do personally fel it is a step in the right direction. People who act like that are not really friends.

2013 District Convention God's Word Is Truth MP3 is ready!
by OneDayillBeFree inalright.
so i got a sendspace and uploaded the whole thing except for the songs and morning music.. the link to all the mp3's is here!
for some reason it starts with the last talk first but they're all numbered and titled according to the convention so it should'nt be too hard i hope.. do with them what you please, upload them to youtube, send them to friends & family, or just see how far you can stomach some of the "fine spiritual food that the faithful and discreet slave has prepared for us this year".. some key talks you might wanna listen to are 12 symposium: the truth sets us free, 16 believe inspired truth, not inspired error, 20 symposium: reject what is false!

Will Google Balloons help turn the tide in developing countries?
by cedars inwell, i'm back on jwn so i may as well start a new thread!.
this story caught my eye on sky news recently.... http://news.sky.com/story/1104007/google-balloon-project-gets-off-the-ground.
it's basically a new initiative from google to bring the internet to far flung parts of the earth including parts of africa that are simply not wired up to the internet yet.. i'm not sure how the accessibility will work in terms of subscriptions etc, but google seem serious about it and early tests have been positive.. so, the question raised in my mind was, could this turn the tide against the watchtower?

James, in most of these countries what that starving mother needs in the long run is information. Information is what topples dictators. Now of they could just fly theses over North Korea.

Hello, and it's great to hear form you again. I'm glad to hear life is going well. I expected as much, you always seemed such to a level headed person, planned and thought things through.
I think the cult forgets people vary tremendously, thoes who think things through and plan are always going to have a better time. I suspect that may be one of the reasons they are so quick to throw people out, they hope that they can't land on their feet and come ack begging for help. I ahven't seen this video yet, but I do remember the drama it is based on. I was totally disgusted then, so I'm sure this video can't be any better.
I still can't get over how it shows both brothers still living at home, they have such a hard time letting people grow up in the org.
The other thing that stands out to me is how they protrayed his friends, maybe Al wasn't the best guy, but he never gave ay other friends a chance, I know that the friends I have made since leaving would never trea me like that, and if I had a personal crisis they would not abandon me.
I described this drama at the time I saw it as very emotionally manuplative, the video sounds worse. Painting "worldly" people as uncaring is nothing new, this just seems over the top.
Again, good to hear from you, I wish you all the best!

Invitations to the DC
by sooner7nc inplease correct me if i'm wrong on this.. one of the guys who works with me called me at work today (his day off) and said that a jw had just come to his door.
the guy was by himself and said that he was new to the area and offered a tract of some sort and an invitation to the dc coming up in a couple of weeks in fort worth.
i don't remember ever giving out invites to the dc.

I'm surprised they talked to him, most JWs are giving out the DC invites in the same manner as the memorial invite. Stick it in the door, ring the bell and leave.
