I'm glad you find happiness where you are now. I feel we all need to get over that proveribal "hump" where we make real friends and start a new life. It releases the hold that DF/DA can hold over us.

I'm done hiding who I am with my family
by cognac ini'm pissed that i got scared the other day and didn't just tell my mom i was celebrating halloween.
i was caught off-guard when she asked what i was doing and felt that fear they instill in you.
hate that i still feel that way when i shouldn't.

My wife found freedom in telling her parents about halloween and trick/treating with my son, yes it complicates an already difficult sitution, but in the end being honest is freeing.
We were DF'd because of the halloween decorations after fading for 4 years. I will echo the sentiment that you can be DF'd for anything two elders agree on.

OMG! Just watched a pile of LDS TV - JW.tv is like it. and
by hamsterbait inthe mormons have the "quorum of the twelve apostles" leading them.
they sit at the front of the temple and are looked up to.
is this where all the emphasis on the gb is going?.

hampster, you should find the Mormon vidoe of the Prodigal Son. It is very entertaining to compare to the JW one.
But yes, they are just copying them, LDS has been using videos for years, they even broadcast the general conference on the website.

The More I Think, The More I Lose Faith In BIBLE!!
by NoMoreHustle insitting through this weeks wt study.
paragraph came up about how "a fire came out from jah & consumed (korah and) the 250 men offering the incense".
i said to myself this supposedly happened couple of thousand years ago.

Since Yahweh was a volcano, it's no doubt that someone who got to close was killed by fire.

jw logo vs people who wear a cross. IDOL WORSHIP IS STILL IDOL WORSHIP
by goingthruthemotions inlast week out in service i saw an elder wearing a jw.org pin.
and thought.....hmmm isn't this idol worship?
what a double standard.....it's ok to promote the borg with a pin...but not ok to promote jesus by wearing a. cross?.

I remember the days that having a poster of a band or famous person was called idolatry.

Can JW's get themselves sterilized?
by Splash incan you be sexually sterilised?no, it is absolutely wrong - w59 7/1 p. 416 questions from readers.
however, it is absolutely wrong for a person to think that in order to stay free for the kingdom service and avoid family responsibilities in the way of children he is justified in getting himself sexually sterilized.. .
no, it is harmful - w61 12/1 p. 735 questions from readers.

Bethel experiences sound like a prison sentence. Why even go?
by goingthruthemotions inwhen i read about bethel experiences my mind go to the show locked up raw!.
why would someone subject themselves to this without commeting a crime.. the wife and i went to see bethel in broklyn a few years ago and it was unlike anything i expected.
very cold.. went the bosert hotel and was talking to a brother there and asked how long he had been there, he said 25 years...i asked how old he was.

Surreal experience last night.
by objectivetruth inrecently a jw friend that my wife & i knew 3 years ago added me on facebook, after i accepted the request she invited me to a dinner that her and her husband are holding next month.. i imagined that she was unaware of our apostasy, so i declined the invitation on the basis of not wanting to ruin her dinner after the rest of her guests fled at our presence.. i'm never sure how old friends will react when i tell them that i'm no longer a jw.. usually their response is "..... permanent-silence......".
her response went something like this, " we are all out!
everyone that is coming is out we all look forward to seeing you guys so much" it turns out that there will be 6 people at the dinner all friends of ours from a congregation that we attended a few years back.. they have all left the organization recently.. pretty crazy experience..
