Christians, Pedophilia and the Australian Royal Commission
by fulltimestudent inthe vast majority of christians are not pedophiles and would most likely deplore it.
so why do so many church organisations try to cover it up?.
probably there are two reasons:.

Just saw this on youtube. As a big fan of Tim Minchin and this song deserves some publicity. -

and yet this is after they supposedly dropped the type/antitype thing.
Is not this the same thing in a different package?

ROKU Maybe damaging TVs
by TakeOffTheCrown inusing a roku may damage the color on tv sets.
it appears to change the color phase to magenta.. has anyone else noticed this problem on their tvs while using a roku?
apparently, the problem cannot be repaired.. http://forums.roku.com/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=90113.

It doesn't hurt the TV, and there is a firmware fix out for it now. Also I've only heard about it on the Roku 4.
I have the 3 and at least have not had any issues, unless there was an update that broke it then another fixed it.

by StarTrekAngel inwe all remember the acquisition of qcs telecom by the wtbts.
this was posted on jw-archive with a link to a linkedin profile of the alleged project manager.
if it is true that they are actually putting down 100g network, i can tell you first hand that is effing expensive.

I think they just wanted the fiber already installed. They probably are not going to grow it any. -

November 2015 Awake
by username inok. when i first looked at the cover of this issue of awake i was instantly struck on how creepy it looked.
my first impressions were the picture looked almost masonic in nature.
well, further investigation has led me to another picture that shows a grand masonic hall.

That first picture is a church. Nothing more.
I've not been inside a masonic lodge, but I will agree with rebelfighter, they don't have pews.

A passing thought when driving past an inactive JWs place today.
by joe134cd ini'm going to tell you of a family i knew of when growing up as a jw.
she was a solo mother who had 2 daughters and these 2 daughters were absolutely stunning both physically and personailty wise.
i remember thinking at the time how commendable it was that such beautiful looking women would choose to stay in the organisation.

Pete, excellent analogy, I love it and hope I can remember it.
My second thought was that often, when people leave the JW's and don't have a firm conviction that they were right in doing so, will sometimes gravitate towards the things in life that aren't worth having or doing, simply because they feel they are now wicked. They subconsciously think that since they aren't JW's anymore, they are part of the wicked world they've heard oh so much about.
Ive seen even first hand how people can go down this path, for any reason, wipe other thinking they are not worthy due to not being mentally free, or not realizing exactly what you say, there is no dichotomy in life, many people people make choices that don't lead them down a destructive path.

Emptiness of Watchtower
by vinman insince i left the organization, i have learned so many new and deep things.
i know some in the watchtower are intelligent, however it has been my experience, that most i've dealt with are.
.. well quite inept.

This was a big eyeopener for me. when I first started letting myself research "outside" books, it amazed me how little the watchtower actually teaches.
I dove into textual criticism, and reading about the environment where the bible was written. It quickly amazed me how much I didn't know.
It also gave me great appreciation of why there is so much diversity in Christianity and how stupid it was to say you had ultimate truth.
