Why do Jehovah's Witnesses decline to exchange their Bible study aids for the religious literature of people they meet? ... it would be foolhardy, as well as a waste of valuable time, for Jehovah's Witnesses to accept and expose themselves to false religious literature that is designed to deceive. ... it is out of wisdom and respect for God's counsel that Jehovah's Witnesses do not make a practice of exchanging valuable Bible study aids containing Scriptural truth for religious literature that disseminates error or apostate views. –The Watchtower, May 1, 1984, p. 31.

Did You Experience THIS When You Were Awakening From Mind Control?
by mentallyfree31 inback in december, when i awakened from the wt mind control - i would wake up for several weeks in the middle of the night thinking "what are you doing?
you know the witnesses have the truth".
every day or so these thoughts would return.

Anyone experiencing this should read Ray Franz's book, Crisis of Conscience. This book completely destroys the facade that the GB has constructed and (for me) totally obliterated any thoughts that "the witnesses have the truth".
I also recommend James Penton's book, Apocalypse Delayed.
I don't know how it would be possible to believe the JWs have "the truth" after reading these books...............

: Why can't some people accept that fact that a black man was elected president of the United States?
Erm... are we reading the same thread? What does Obama's being "a black man" have to do with any of this?

I never had the privilege of meeting Ray or his wife. However, I can say that his books were instrumental in my becoming free from the Watchtower Society. I say "free" because I would have left without Ray's books (in fact, did) but if not for Ray's books my mind would not have been so completely and absolutely free of the various control mechanisms of the WTS.
With his first book, Ray did for me precisely what Toto did for Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz: completely expose the charlatan(s) hiding behind the curtain.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you Ray.

Most-Ignored Scriptures by JWs
by Mad Sweeney inthe watchtower has been known for over 130 years as a great scriptural cherry-picker.
they pick out disparate unrelated verses and combine them to support the wackiest of wacky doctrines.. on the other hand there are many scriptures they almost never address, whether because they contradict wt doctrine or because they simply don't have a clue what they mean or how to spin them to the wt advantage.. one of these is revelation 19:1 that mentions a "great crowd" "in heaven.
" the only time it is ever brought up it is dismissed.

Hebrews 1:5 God has never said to any of the angels, "You are my Son, because today I have become your Father!" Neither has God said to any of them, "I will be his Father, and he will be my Son!"
Hebrews 1:13 God never said to any of the angels, "Sit at my right side until I make your enemies into a footstool for you!"

neverendingjourney:
As I referred to in my prior post on this topic, what happens when the number of anointed who have existed throughout the WT's history exceeds 144,000? If they keep adding "new" anointed every year, eventually it will be evident that more than 144k anointed have existed throughout WT history. Therefore, the overlapping anointed doctrine will not be able to save them forever unless they scrap 144k as a literal number or imply that many of the anointed were illegitimate.
The WT$ will be careful about this. Before long (especially now that the new understanding of "this generation" is in place) they will begin to cut back on the published number of partakers. It's enough that the rank and file know that there is some young blood now that can last for a few decades. Eventually (way down the road) there will be no choice but to call the 144k a "figurative" number. But they'll put that one off for as long as possible. (Imo)

Thanks for posting.
This change makes the recent increase in the number of partakers that much easier to understand. With this latest generation change, the WT$ has bought themselves (potentially) a lot of years. But it would all be for naught if there were no "anointed" left alive; no "faithful and discreet slave" to run the show. For this latest generation change to work, the WT$ flat out needed more anointed; they had to get out from under the 1935 cutoff date. So what do they do? They publish an increase in the number of partakers, then they point to that published increase as evidence that the 1935 cutoff mustn't have been the cutoff after all...
And all of a sudden they've got a bunch of freshly minted "anointed" in place to support their "new light" on the "1914 generation". Not bad, Watchtower.
Now I'm going to go vomit.
