deep in thought, as i usually am when doing mundane tasks, it occurred to me that while jesus encouraged us to be "good samaritans", god himself is not a good samaritan.
in the parable by jesus, a traveler is left beaten and robbed on the side of the road.

My epiphany was more about the *irony* in Jesus telling the parable of the good Samaritan when all the while God is passing us by just like the priest and Levite.
The older I get, the more the idea of a loving God who permits suffering seems like an oxymoron.

In the parable by Jesus, a traveler is left beaten and robbed on the side of the road. A priest and then a Levite both pass the man by, ignoring his need. Finally a Samaritan comes along and tends to the man's need. I realized that in this parable, God fits the roles of the priest and the Levite, not the Samaritan. While so many of us suffer and are in need each day, God simply passes us by. Though he has it in his power to appease our suffering and assuage our need, he chooses not to.

Did they really, though? The article is about "the Christ". In Watchtower vernacular, "the Christ" is not simply a reference to Jesus, but to Jesus + the 144,000...

So when the GB says "follow the Christ", they are really saying "follow us".
Matthew 24:23,24 springs to mind:
At that time if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Christ!' or, 'There he is!' do not believe it. For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect—if that were possible.

I've had Mormons at my door more times than JWs. They come with the Book of Mormon but they also have their JST. Not unlike the JWs who come with their Watchtowers in addition to their NWT.

I always ask the dubs how, if no one else is "preaching the good news worldwide", did "Pastor" Russell first learn of Christianity? Where did he obtain his first bible?
what is it with jw and the abaddon.. i hear they say what jesus is the angel of destruktion abaddon.. is it true?.
insigst 1 p 12 about abaddon qoutes this.. the interpreters bible says: abaddon, however, is an angel not of satan but of god, performing his work of destruction at gods bidding.. but if we read rev 9.. we can clearly see it is satan here is talking about.. and if you read on to capture 11.. then they are finish, the beast will come out.. but don't jw say the beast is allreaddy out?
and it looks like the beast serve abaddon, since it comes from the same place as he.. i allso foud this homepage.
i believe originally they taught that Abaddon was Satan, then flip-flopped to Abaddon being Jesus. I'm sure Jesus was appreciative of being identified as Satan by his "faithful and discreet slave" for all those years.....

i'm sitting here working away and about half an hour ago, i felt everything start to shake.

The verse says "Joseph and all his brothers and all that generation"...... not "Joseph and all his brothers and all their children and all their grandchildren and all their great-grandchildren and all that generation".
Ex 1:6 actually contradicts their latest generation interpretation...
