To the OP: Very good question and yet another that should (but doesn't) give JWs pause for serious thought.

Faithful slave has been around since the 1st Century?? So why DIDN'T Charles Russell join them?
by Witness 007 inthe watchtower claims there has been a "faithful slave" since jesus time till now so.....why did russell go independent and start his own group of bible students?
why did he claim the title for himself alone?.

freydo, can you clarify your position?
Do you doubt the accuracy of the statement quoted from the Watchtower magazine? Do you doubt the claim itself?
Unless the Watchtower lied (gasp!), Russell privately claimed to be the F&DS:
"he admitted as much in private conversation"

Thought Control (A simple test for JW's)
by TD inin george orwell's novel 'nineteen eighty-four' the capitulation of the principal protagonist is portrayed in his willingness to assent to the proposition that two and two make five.
once he had denied objective reality, his mental conquest was complete and he was no longer truly the master of his own mind.
nineteen eighty-four is in many ways, a very depressing read.. a charge commonly leveled at jehovah's witnesses is that the type of mind control envisioned by orwell has been and continues to be used on them.

LOL @ Alice. Your silence is deafening...
Any other "apologists" want to step up to the plate?
Prior to 1914, did the WTS teach that Jesus would return invisible in 1914?
Simple 'Yes' or 'No' please.

by UnDisfellowshipped incompare these two "generation" quotes from the watchtower -- which one is correct?
how did god's "channel of communication" make an error this big?.

Great post.
Worst part is, tomorrow they could change back to the 1995 view and the dubbies would just eat it up........

BTTT for Wannabe:
Wannabe:
Given that the word "Jehovah" is an amalgamation of the Tetragrammaton (consonants) and "Adonai" (vowels), making a BRAND NEW WORD, can you explain (in a few words, if that is possible for you) why it should be used today as the name of God?

How to create a word that is not your name in three simple steps:
1) Take a name (we'll use "gubberningbody") and strip out the vowels: "g_bb_rn_ngb_dy"
2) Take another word (we'll use "fascinating") and strip out the consonants: "_a__i_a_i__"
3) Now combine consontants from word one with vowels from word two: "gabbirnangbidy"
And voila! We've just created a new word that is not your name: gabbirnangbidy
