as a person who has not attended meetings for some time now, and having stood back and looked at the thousands of different faith groups, organisations, churches etc i often think how on earth are we to know what direction to go.
if a person looks deeply into their own faith questioning how, what and why... the deeper the hole gets as to errors.
from my own experience having firstly been a catholic then a jw, all i see are manmade rituals and rules mingled in with biblical principles and commandments.

i am half way through this book by carl o. jonsson and the more i read the more certain i become that the 607bce date for the destruction of jerusalem by babylon is nothing more than a fabrication designed to uphold 1914 and hence the "authority" of the watchtower leadership.it makes me sick to think of how they have duped millions of people with their phoney chronology.it makes sitting through studies that mention these dates irritating to say the least.especially when all the heads nod in unison at the mention of the "magic 607"
AH! This is a WONDERFUL book! You'll love it! And COJ is such a good writer too. Lots of practical applications throughout. It is not necessarily "pro-Biblical," but it does show some flaws in the JW chronology. Great! Plus he's just a darling man. I have had the great privilege of debating with him on some issues and there's just something about him that makes you want to embrace him, hug him. He's just... POPULAR.,, what can I say? He's one of my favorite writers. I think I told him once that if it wasn't for my damn need to be such an anol-retentive bitch for accuracy and truth, I'd embrace everything he said with open arms, just because he's so charming and darling.
Regardless, this book is a MUST-HAVE for any library for anyone interested in ancient chronology and/or Biblical chronology.

have been reading so much on this site...it is not even funny anymore.
i am now into "the best of"...a gold mine of personal experiences!
while reading, a question often comes to mind.
My absolute personal experience with the WTS has been mixed because of my own issues. But from a standpoint of believing in the Bible, because they were so education oriented (like the Mormons and 7th Day Adventists), I developed an appreciation of the Bible from a "practical" point of view, aided, of course by an extreme prejudice against the world of "higher education" which I was brought up to believe was under Satan's control. I have since adjusted that viewpoint more specifically, but that initial faith in trusting the Bible has carried through for me. So in that way the WTS was an incredibly positive experience.
Generally, speaking, I think that those who leave the WTS seldom get really involved in any other Christian religion because the average witness just knows too much; more might end up becoming non-believers in the Bible itself or have a watered down view that it is "inspired," etc. I still believe the Bible and still believe the WTS is the best Christian religion, doctrinally speaking.

Listen, folks, for those who are holding out that the Bible just might be true and we're near the end, this is foreboding in the light of other changes!
1) The WTS is putting out a "private" JW Only Watchtower!!! They are closing the reigns in more tightly to control the members and encourage loyalty.
2) They are now attacking some of the more aggressive witnesses who establish their own indepdent study groups outside the WTS' mind-control schedule of the 5 meetings per week.
3) Now with his new "generation" doctrine, they are attacking some of the weaker doctrines of the past that cause doubts. It's still a scam but they are getting better at it.
This is ALL more focussed, as if they are now focussed on insulating the organizational members and ferreting out those borderliners. Who know what else is next? This is so "Illuminati" magic though. They are creating an environment that only those speaking their own language will be allowed to speak. Bringing up something in the Bible that is not part of that week's discussions outlined by the WTS will soon be equated with "apostasy." Apostasy against the Faithful Slave God.
Why so disturbing? Because Satan is stepping up his efforts for a big finish, that's why. Satan was kicked out of heaven in 1992 and only had a "short while" to deceive as many in the world as possible. He's making sure he does his best to do that with the witnesses.
A real last-ditch-effort competition for the last remaining souls up for grabs seems to be going on. Maybe Satan has a good idea of when his own time will be up.

P.S. It is hard to explain precisely, but it's scary this much step-up effort of CONTROL on a psychological level is now stepping into place. Either they are feeling genuninely threatened or the Illuminati is taking over on a bigger level to use the WTS for it's own means, IMHO. Organizational secrecy and control of the members is increasing all of a sudden. Things are definitely not the same now.

....soo after speaking to someone who went to the annual meeting..somehow "this generation" will solely apply to the annointed........and the annointed could in fact make it past the great tribulation.. the sense is the timespan for this system of things is NOW SHORTER! they also appeared to change the meaning of 3 of jesus illustrations... 1-the seed the falls in the soil 2-the leaven.. the other i cant rememember the person who attended said this is the first time he can recall them brining new light at an annual meeting.. also there will be a special 1 week school for elders starting early next year they will go through the P.O's first...

Now, you may not be an actor or a crazie like me, but you know, one of the things that makes smoking addictive is that it forces you to have controlled, slow breathing and that in and all by itself is relaxing. So by all means include that in your withdrawal. Breathe deep, exale slowly and it will make you calm down and relax and reduce (IMHO) the withdrawal anxieties. Don't tell anybody, but sometimes I just pick up a pen or pencil and pretend to smoke on a yatch! I donono? I get a little something out of pretending. But maybe you're not as "artistic" (i.e. WIERD) as I am.
Anyway, hang in there. I know it's tough sometimes to quit. But your body will give up trying if you deprive it long enough!

according to matthew 27:52-53.
(this occurred during the time when jesus was being crucified).
"and the memorial tombs were opened and many bodies of the holy ones that had fallen asleep were raised up, (and persons coming out from among the memorial tombs after his being raised up, entered into the holy city,) and they became visible to many people.".
If that scripture is right, then they were raised up to go where? not to heaven but to their homes in the city. To do what?
John 7: 28 I tell YOU , Among those born of women there is none greater than John; but a person that is a lesser one in the kingdom of God is greater than he is.”
People dying before Christ could not be anointed into the kingdom. Once that happens they attain a greater greatness than even John the Baptist who is not sealed by that holy spirit. So those dying during Christ's time missed this distinction just by a short time. So it made a difference if they were alive at Pentecost. Thus their resurrection, the resurrection of those who had been baptized in Christ but then later died before the death of Christ, being brought back after Christ's death made a big difference for them, because then they could attain a greatness greater than John the Baptist. Their resurrection allowed them to be alive after Christ died which made a huge difference as far as the kingdom was concerned.

For Paul, the "saints" could not arise before Jesus himself has risen. Yet the gloss fails to bring Matthew fully into line with Pauline theology since the bodily resurrection of the righteous dead still takes place before Jesus.
All the more reason to consider whether a "saint" was considered one baptized in Jesus. That could be a point prior to Christ's death but still related directly to Christ. That's where I'm leaning...
