Yeah, it definitely does -not- work. All I get was "You do not believe" and "You must be patient", then I read that link above and tried it out. Sure enough.

All Right I'm a Little Freak Out-> Psyhic Thread Warning!
by frankiespeakin inokay here's what happened:.
my sister who i'm living with just came down stairs to tell me she was on the internet with her daughter and husband talking to this psychic and she was all nervous and excited.. she know i don't believe in the stuff, btw the last two girlfriends i had lived with on and off were both claiming to be psychic, and they were 40-60% correct but i could see that what they predicted were mainly driven by their own ego's, so i never put much stock in what they did just humor them.. so she said that this guy(psychic) was 100% correct.
she asked him questions like:.

my mum taught us very valuable lessons about Jehovah in her special way. Any other parents out there as psycho?
by God Chick inok before i start i know my mum was um "special" and had some, well...... bizzare training ideas.. .
i was one of 7 kids, dad didnt help much coz he was sick, so my mum was left to run the 'ship' and she did it with an iron fist.. .
we were never late for a meeting we sat, parents and 2 kids in one row the other 5 in row in front.

I'm sorry God Chick. I didn't go through anything like that as a child, but I feel for you. How terrible :(
It is funny (funny ironic, definitely not "funny haha") the way JW parents try to teach certain lessons with something totally irrevelant.

Tattoos/Piercings?
by Think About It ini feel like woody allen in the 1973 movie "the sleeper".
i leave in 1995, wake up 15 yrs later to see what has been going on in the jw religion and find out it is completely different from what i left.
i started a thread about beards, because i wanted to know how the modern day beard and goatee fad went over in the kh's.. now i'm curious about the tattoo, piercings and short or shaved hair look.

I've thought about this before, and if I was still in but realized all I do now, I'd start getting piercings and maybe visible tattoos just to see what would happen. LOL.
I got a helix piercing soon before I left (maybe 6 months?), and besides my dad, no one said anything. I did keep it covered around certain people, though, so I don't think a lot of people noticed. I should have shown it off more.

Ho hum the time has come!
by MisfitMeL inwell it's very close.... i knew this would kinda happen at some point in my life.... still you only realise the full extent of the situation when you are facing it.. i never was a 'hard core' jw and all of the 'secret' boyfriends i've had were non-jws.
present one included.
except now, we have decided to get married and i have the most unpleasant task ahead of me.. 1) i'm indian, so dating isn't really accepted as the norm and most parents are very conservative.. 2) my mum is a jw and i was raised as one (though i am an atheist now, but she doesn't know this!!

Yes, are you baptized? All I can really say is congratulations and good luck! IF topics like fornication come up, it's best just to keep your mouth shut, lol. Just tell her it's none of her business, or anyone's business, what you do and don't do.
Her reaction probably won't be a good one, but we have to go through some tough stuff to get to where we want to be sometimes.

Did you suffer from panic attacks in the borg?
by highdose ini can certainly say that i did and that i knew alot of others that did too.
i can also say that i don't any more, i left my panic attacks in the km!.
what about you?.
-
ILTSF
Yes, I used to have very bad panic attacks, I haven't in a very long time. I also dealt with a lot of anxiety and depression which are both getting far better. I used to get very sick before meetings, it was my body's way of trying to get out of something I didn't want to do so bad. That transferred to other areas of my life, and if I didn't want to do something, I would get sick. That's finally starting to not happen anymore, I've learned that for the most part, I can say no and avoid the situation entirely.

Is Smoking Pot Harmful?

shamus100- It's been over a year and a half since I quit the Zoloft, and believe me, I have definitely been much better off without it. I didn't "leave Zoloft to go to pot". I weaned myself off Zoloft and learned to deal with things, and quite a few months later tried weed for the first time. I didn't start smoking to help with depression/anxiety, though, it was just something I noticed afterwards.
I am planning on counseling, when I'm able to do so. I have had counseling in the past, also, and I'm not trying to replace that with message boards. With my current financial state, I can't really afford much more than this. Like you said, it's not free. Anyway, I'm sorry you had the experience you did, but I've known many, many people who have said exactly the opposite of what you said, and my own experience has shown very differently.
For the record- since I've been smoking, I've learned more than I ever have in my life. I'm able to think and focus and take stuff in. Brains work differently, and we're different people. I think, judging from my past experience, that I won't have a problem with never learning again. I've known many others who have had the same experience in this regard, too.
Incidentally, it was also because of MJ that I started to realize the truth about the WTS, too.

Also, if you are using it to help with depression/anxiety, I also feel it's MUCH safer than anti-depressants. I was on Zoloft for a while, smoking even a couple of times a week does much more for me without any of the terrible side effects I was going through.

shamus- Do you really feel it's not the least bit helpful, to anyone?
recovering- Can we please have some sources? There's a lot of very strong statements you made that definitely need something to back them up.
Personally, I feel that it's far safer than alcohol in large amounts. You can literally smoke pounds of weed without effect, but the same amount of alcohol would definitely catch up to you very quickly. There's a ton of myths and misconceptions about weed, and all the propaganda doesn't help. It should be legalized and people should be allowed to choose to use it responsibly, the same as you do with alcohol.
