Theists, why does God allow suffering..

..specifically, the suffering of animals.

you can talk about free will/sin/people choosing to not listen to god etc to explain human suffering being allowed.. but how can you love a god that allows animals, that haven't sinned or chosen to not have anything to do with god, to have their short lives ended in often long, drawn out, painful ways.

i could list stories i've read that would probably make you feel ill, but i'm not looking to shock anyone or start an emotional debate.

Bioflex how do you explain vestigial organs like whales with vestigial legs ...google it. The genes for vestigal organs are still there...like humans in the womb get a complete covering of hair at PRECISELY the same stage as apes do, but because our fur gene is 'switched off',dormant if you like, we loose ours.

Some animals DO MOURNE their dead. Some human animals dont. How many times do you see someone killed on tv, or witness an accident and just continue on with your life...no tears shed. The point being made is that no loving god in the Judeo-Christian sense could have created a world based on predation of other (or in many cases their own) species.

List of Prominent JW Urban Legends...

hey folks,.

i'm wondering if you all could help me with my next video that i want to put up in the next couple of days (though i'm hoping for tonight), i want to come up with a list of the most prominent urban legends surrounding jws and then refute them whatever they may be.. i'm thinking there's the urban legend about the question on jeopardy that said the nwt was the most accurate would be a good one.

that one stems from an online powerpoint presentation named theological jeopardy and a book which was written comparing six different translations of the bible.

I think Dwight.D.Eisenhower came from an Adventist background, could be where that rumour sprung from. Anyone remember the talking demon teddy in England? I know amoung Indian witnesses in England in the late 70 's the evil de -materializing Hindu mother in law was big ( demons with knives Shiva style accompany her!)

was talking to an ex-bethelite who is still very well-connected to those in the ivory tower.. he says that there will soon be a(nother) large number of us bethelites who will be "reassigned to the field" as pioneers and special pioneers.. he did not give his source, but he is pretty reliable.

incidentally, he was "reassigned to the field" in the last big purge about 7 years ago.. i imagine those so reassigned would be pretty teed off.

let go just before the golden lakeshore palace was completed..

you can probably guess how this story goes.. i began dating a non-witness boy.

he knew i was a baptised witness and understood the consequences i faced for dating him.

we agreed to keep our relationship secret, which was easy considering our 200 mile distance.

Sorry, just saw your'e second post, England eh ?welcome homey! In that case, your college should have an in house psycologist who will be able to help. Be aware though not all ( very few in fact) therapists have a good understanding of what it is to grow up in a high control religon. Unfortunately, our cousins over the pond are light years ahead of us in that dept, but again, Steve Hassan is willing to conduct 'supervisions' if u can find a therapist willing to undertake you. WELCOME. You have not said which country you are in, it may be best not too but the reason its relevant is that there is an expert in dealing with the emotional aftermath of being on a cult and his name is Steve Hassan. If you are in the states he may be able to help you. I think its really important you find a good therapist, someone who understands what a devastating situation your parents jave put you in. My heart goes out to you, as a mother my alarm bells are going off like crazy and I feel so angry that when you are going through a normal part of growing up - first love- instead of joyfully supporting you the fools have driven you away. I am sure your boyfriend is lovely, but you are so young I worry that if it doesn't work out you no longer have a support network to fall back on - leaving you terribly vulnerable. If you are not sure, your family doctor may be a good place to start...he or she may be able to advise you on a suitable support group/self help group - forums are ok but you need some flesh and blood support when dealing with the emotional hangover of leaving a cult.

Ghana jw.org call for retraction

we have read with interest the above front-page headline and its articlewhich was published on page 3 of your newspaper the chronicle of june 22, 2015. in the article, the writer, alfred adams of takoradi, reported that rebecca dankwa and her mother, believed to be worshipping at the jehovahs witnesses church, refused to accept blood transfusion on the grounds that their religion forbids blood transfusions, and she died as a result.. as representatives of jehovahs witnesses in ghana, we write to point out the misinformation contained in that report.

our investigation into the matter has clearly established that the said rebecca dankwa was not one of jehovahs witnesses.

since this person mentioned in the report was not one of jehovahs witnesses, we are at a loss as to why the name of jehovahs witnesses should be linked to the story.

The biblical prohibition on blood involves eating it.

I wonder how many JW know the analogy between a blood transfusion and a dextrose/feed transfusion is false - a blood transfusion is not food and won't save your life if your're starving, in the same way a kidney transplant wont. A bloodtransfusion is analogous to an organ transplant - something the wtbs used not - and now does - allow.

Food for thought.

Comparing JWs to Jews

some have asked how my views and convictions have changed over the past 15 years or so after leaving the watchtower behind to return to my familys roots and embrace judaism.

the best way to explain things is to allow both the religion of the watchtower and my life as a jew today to stand side-by-side for comparison.

while i cant guarantee this will help prove to others that the jehovahs witnesses are truly a crazy religious group, i am sure it will prove to most that jews probably are, and are quite aware of it.

I always think if jews did proselytize and hence goys were informed real biblical truths (ie satans real role who messiah really is etc )there would be no christianity period.
