The Royal Commission and Watchtower - A game changer
by Hidden-Window ini had finished watching all the videos on the royal commission's investigation of jehovah's witnesses (yes, i know more videos are being released).
i am still processing the information of everything that has emerged.
i do not plan to cover it all here, but i would like to point out that it is patently obvious that some of the wt representatives provided misleading information.

I also believe they will be, incrementally, forced to change. I mean when these religons who offered shelter from the evils of society, now have the secular world giving THEM a demonstration in what is trully moral, fair decent behaviour is , its hugely embarrasing for them. Steve is right they are being chastened. Slowly but surely the world IS improving, and religon is going to be dragged kicking and screaming, along with it. Or there won't be any adherents in 100 years time left. Personally, I bloody hope there aren't. -

@ nuggat Technically women can be involved in the ~JC process as complainants, victims or witnesses they have no part in the investigative process or the decision making process.
Don't forget making the TEA! (thanks Angus!)

Is Jackson embarrassed to be a JW?
by Doubting Bro ini listened to the majority of jackson's part one testimony and it seems apparent to me that he either:1) is embarrassed to be a jw or 2) doesn't really believe.
i've heard countless times from the platform and in print that we should be proud to be jws and take every opportunity to defend our beliefs.
yet, it seems jackson didn't even want to admit that he believed he was being directly used by jehovah to lead the congregation as his spokesman.

Honestly, I don't believe a #3 would be able to handle a GB position. All the unethical stuff would bother him too much.
After all, Ray Franze was, arguably, a #3.
Too right, can you imagine Ray Franze tolarating this BS for one min, having such a pompous, evasive attitude to such a horrific crime would have made that man physically sick. He was a true "clothe yourselves in love" Christian first, wtbts second.
Old "guardian of the doctrine" knows full well there is no two way intercom with the big man, but is a conservative reactionary with a "keep the great unwashed behaving themselves" attitude, like Rutherford and his ilk Pope Francis Jackson the 2nd is a narcissist who doesn't believe the normal rules of the game apply to him.

GEOFFREY JACKSON and the JUNCTION of DYSFUNCTION
by Terry inin the land of the blind the one-eyed man is king.. _____________________.
in the watchtower society, there is a point where heaven and earth meet.. 100+ years of historical evidence will show it is a junction of dysfunction; a mental construct; a shadow of imagination indwelling like a spirit of possession.. the shaman who invoke this shadow spirit are seven men in number; an elite cadre of self-described anointed kings and priests whose ultimate destination is heaven itself.. or so they are eager to insist!.
while cloaking themselves in the ragged raiment of mere slaves, their actions, words and deeds betray this subterfuge.

StartrekAngel n my own inquiries, I found Georges Roux's "Ancient Iraq" very informative. It's available from Penguin in paperback and has been updated from time to time by the author. Other books of some help have been guides to hieroglyphics, who wrote what, how and when.
Ha ha, that book is staring right at me as I read this! Now I am definately gonna read it!

" --is no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses"
by prologos ini am too old understand the rc exchanges, but i can think of this scenario:.
a brother writes a letter that he can not continue support the organisation, congregation because of the spasm between new and old light*, will stop service.
* within a short time a brother is found to be a serial child rapist and because of the publicity,- disfellowshipped .

Black and white thinking, not healthy. I am on my soapbox now as I posted elsewhere but one day, SOON, the european convention for Human Rights art. 9 right to freedom of thought, conscience and religon and art.8 right to private life and family, is coming for the wtbts, and it's gonna hit 'em where it hurts, in the pocket.
I HOPE THAT THOUGHT GIVES THEM NIGHTMARES

Look out for a new congregation position for elders wives: Helper to the Elders
by Splash ingeoffrey jackson spent 20 minutes accepting the position that it is not scripturally prohibited for women to be used in the investigation process, although probably not the jc itself (he said he'd check the scriptures on that bit, but we can guess the outcome).. look out for the wives of elders jostling for and gaining these positions.
there will be no better opportunity for gossip mongers to raise their status in the congregation than being officially involved in the intimate private business of others in the congregation.. think of the power they will have in advising the elders on a jc if she thinks the victim is credible, with her opinion, bias and embellishments on the details.
i wouldn't fancy the chances of a victim who has previously fallen out with one of these 'helpers'.. whatever next, sisters handling microphones??!

thread, but please try to show a little bit of respect for women! There are many ladies who are eminently capable of handling a role like this in an honest, dignified manner. (I should know, I am one of them.) I am a little bit offended by these assertions that there are no sincere, caring sisters who genuinely care for victims of abuse and could provide a better environment for victims to raise their concerns than in the elders' club. You all sound like the GB, writing off sisters as incapable because they are gossip-mongering, self-important gobshites who care only about themselves and appearances. Little bit offensive.
The first question to be asked of a victim should be along these lines: "As far as you know, are you the only person who has witnessed this person's vile behaviour?" As the answer will usually be affirmative, it should be gently explained that at the present time, the congregation does not have any means to do anything about it. The victim might then be strongly and actively encouraged to engage with the secular authorities as soon as possible so that the perp's vile behaviour can be stopped, investigated and prosecuted. The victim could be gently and carefully made aware that these predators rarely desist from their disgusting activities once they have crossed the line and touched a child inappropriately (many victims don't really realise the extent of predatory behaviour of abusers and think they are the only one affected.)
Without extensive Child Protection and counselling training, NO Jdub should be giving a forum for victims to talk about their concerns. Because the wrong questions, or leading questions, could contaminate the evidence and hinder the authorities' investigations. And as we have seen in the ARC, scriptural 'comfort' is easily misconstrued by a traumatised victim. Every child-abuse disclosure should be immediately referred to the appropriate authorities. If spiritual help is required or requested, it should be noted that it has to be put on hold until the victim has been strengthened by being believed by the authorities and receiving counselling to ease some of the trauma they have suffered.
IMHO
Agreed 100%
1) All sexual assault cases child, woman OR man, let's remember this can happen to men and boys, to be immediately reported and victim steered toward professionals, all kangeroo courts (JC's) on hold until secular authorities have dealt with it.As Listlesswitness correctly states any interference by the JW's can interfere with the investigation /outcome adversely
2) I have/do know intelligent, sensitive and genuine sisters who would not dream of breaking confidentiality. To suggest otherwise is extremely demeaning to women. While I accept that has not been the experience of many, I would suggest that when adults are treated like imbeciles they will behave like imbeciles. This is what happens to many JW women who are barred from secular education, family and spiritual responsibility, thus kept in a state of permenant infantilism to an even greater extent than the men.
Headship has NOT stood the test of time, it is repeatedly taken advantage of as the RC proves. In the ideal JW world, women should go from their fathers' domination go their husbans with no secular education in between, Taliban anyone????

Do video games cause bad behaviour in children?
by The Rebel inmy boy is 10 and has got very interested in pocamon cards.
( a game way to complicated for me to understand) but i've also noticed it's linked to a computer game, which seems harmless enough but i also noticed advertisements for more violent games appear.. i would value people's opinion on whether, you think video games cause bad behaviour in kids.
i should mention my kid says i limit his time on these games, much more than other children's parents, and i was thinking of reevaluating that rule.. thanks.. the rebel..

Not to mention, if children can't even enjoy an ice cream cone without being guilty, how much more they shouldn't enjoy a game of Pokemon?
