Basically..your neighbour to most JW's are the wealthy or influential/ top of the pecking order in the cong,healthy young-ish ( because they are useful to the org). Anyone else is worthless...literally.
Unless you get the rare genuinely good souls who despite Borg brainwashing still see all humanity in need, like the good Samaritan, as their neighbour. They are usually disparaged by the org for being like this.
Doctrine does NOT make you a christian...love does.

by cofty inthe so-called 10 commandments are a post-biblical construct.... there is an elohist list at exodus 20 and a yahwist one at exodus 34 that contains such gems as "you shall not cook a kid in its mother’s milk.".
any intelligent adult could create a more useful list of ethical precepts before the end of a coffee break.. it is interesting to compare the satanic temple's seven tenets.
i think you might agree that it makes yahweh's rules look like they were written by a bronze age power-hungry, misogynistic priest.

Sorry but this is a terrible defence of a rule obviously made up by superstitious shepherds...' Horrific ramifications ' by a god that revels in ' blood sacrifice' to atone for another set of arbitrary rules .

Thoughts on John 7:53-8:11??
by BarelyThere ini always accepted that the nwt said that these verses in john were not in the most reliable manuscripts.
i thought it was strange that while the "old" nwt at least included the verses, the "revised" nwt completely omits them.
now i'm trying to do research on my own, but my head is still spinning from all of the information i've taken in the past week.

Is there evidence to support Augustine’s claim that some had removed John 7:53-8:11 out of biblical manuscripts for fear that it might encourage sin?
Now THIS is the REAL reason the JW's have removed it from the revised NWT. They cannot bear the idea that someone could be utterly and UNCONDITIONALLY FORGIVEN. No shunning, no labeling, no marking, no hating no back room...just ' I forgive you.." There are many contested parts or even gospels..including, BTW, the bit in Tim that states women should be silent in the Cong...why remove one of THE most beautiful things EVER written in human history?

Having Jehovah as a friend.
by Darkknight757 ini've always found it amazing that people can say with such conviction that jehovah is their friend.. we are talking about a "friend" who perhaps daily "tests" us to see if we are his friends.
all of us have dealt with some form of hardship such as the death of a loved one, chronic illness or whatever.
it is in these cases that the brothers will tell a person that perhaps it is a test, or that "jehovah knows you're not ready" or some other lame excuse.. do our real friends "test" us to see if we will be loyal to them?

he asks a question about abraham: "couldn't jehovah have spared abraham a lot of grief by telling the promised offspring would be by sara?".
jehovah only disclosed this when ishmael was in his early teens.

Also, in what way did Abraham himself suffer? Hagar suffered, Ishmael suffered, Sara(h) suffered as did Issac. Abraham? Oh maybe he had to listen to a little nagging but generally he just got to take part in a little extra curricular bonking and got to be top dog by putting his son through sheer terror!
Sounds to me like old Abe made the whole thing up to get away with being a real w@nÂŁer!

Fisherman - I trust him with my life.
I wish I did. My life experience tells me there's no one there....it was all a wonderful delusion. It's over now and I lament waking up and finding myself alone.
I feel you.
Why can't we set up an " you are not alone, give us a hug, love to everyone" " church" for people who do the maths and realize there is no God and the universe is utterly indifferent to us.
