They might be "old school." This would be a throw-back to another, previous time when shunning a family member meant that you wouldn't speak with them as a spiritual equal...nothing about KH, doctrine, etc. This is the tactic my family used.
That's what I think. Good for them. This cult is getting worse the more evidence comes to light that they were wrong about 1914 and, well, everything.

Does the Average R&F JW understand what grace is in Christianity ?
by smiddy ini`m showing my ignorance here , not being an active member of any church before joining jw`s as a 19 yr old ,whenever i was ever confronted with the question of "grace" i was always at a loss to give an effective answer from a jw point of view.. was it just me ?
or did anybody else have a similar experience ?.
(ps , i dont think i ever heard the expression " grace" in a religious sense in all my 33 years in the borg.studying the wt.).

I remember a neighbour looking at me with utter pity when she learned I was JW...." but you have no GRACE!!" she cried, face agahst (or words to that effect).
I hadn't a clue what she meant and it took 15 years and leaving to find out.

I was but a small kid in the seventies, yet I don't remember shunning of *family* members being so harshly on the agenda.. 'Spiritual shunning' is a term that springs to mind. No discussion of spiritual matters with disfellowshiped family. DA wasn't even an issue.
Can anyone corroborate this please?

Would human settlement of Mars invalidate Bible prophecy?
by truthseeker ini don't think this topic has been discussed before but yesterday i read something to the effect that trump wants a human mission to mars to be completed within his presidency.. with that being said, the watchtower teaches that what started on earth ends on earth, in other words, the fall of adam and eve would end with the passing of the 1,000 year millennial reign when christ destroys all his enemies, rebellious "perfect" humans, and the devil and his demons who are let out the abyss for a short while.

an elder in my old congregation once told us during a public talk that he was an ardent astronomer but then referenced the scripture where it says, "the earth he has given to the sons of men" (psalms 115:16).

the archangel, an archangel

it points out that the "bible really teach" book, on page 218, makes a bit of a point about there being only one archangel.
it says michael is "the archangel" and emphasizes that "the" means only one.

Solar power rip off! Aussie government destroyed free electricity. Scum!
by Witness 007 inso my friends have had free power for years thanks to solar panels and a great contract with power company.
they even get credits for having 20 panels on thier roof!
i put 18 solar panels on my roof cost $9900 dollars.
