It will happen again to this generation. I mean ok, 75 was a big push that brought more into the org, but really every year is 75. Every year is advertised as the "soon, very soon" year that Armageddon is bound to happen ; so sacrifice your education, a marriage, having children, travel, buying a home, life insurance and pension plans, the holiday of a lifetime, time spent with loved ones or pursuing an interest or a sport ..... . Yes, every year is someone's 1975.

Jwsjw hi there! We've never met ( I'm a prisoner of mother England actually) and I just wanted to say that I'm a exJW reddit regular and time and again we hear of jw's who are either youngsters reluctant to get baptised or are baptised publishers/servants/pioneers/elders and thinking about leaving. When they are open about doubting the Bible as the inerrant word of God they often have no problems whatsoever with the Org and or elders etc. It's just classed as " having doubts" and seen as (almost) understandable. However, if one questions the Slave as God's mouthpiece, well, that's apostasy and judicial action is very likely.
This is my experience, anyway, I'm happy to know it seems to have been yours, too. I'm also really glad to know you have a profession and means to care for yourself as, sadly, so many have been made to leave full time service with nothing to fall back on recently.

What "Rules" Did The Elders In Your KH Make?
by minimus insome congregations were known as liberal and others were considered very conservative.
back in the 1970s a nearby congregation made all speakers who gave public talks a white shirt to wear.
if a speaker came in wearing anything but white they were brought into the library and were given a white shirt!

Actually, Level the playing field, the issue over copyright is not a CO pet peeve thing. That came from the Branch, there have been reminders that copyrighted material cannot be used without the permission of the copyright owner even if the owner is the Organization. the use of the lyrics, the logo or other items cannot be used without the express permission of the branch or the corporation that owns the copyright.
THIS is the problem with wtbts/JWs in General....they are *so* used to being micromanaged that they don't know where to draw the line, where "reasonable" is in the decision making process. i.e. when giving directions not to use the copyrighted work of others in talks or demonstrations that wouldn't include using the copyrighted lyrics of a Watchtower song in a Watchtower hall of worship ( ha! See what I did there...a hall where they worship Watchtower! That's about right!)

I had a circuit assembly part and I had my daughter's best friend in the demonstration and she had the longest skirt you could ever picture with a small slit on the side not quite going to the knee and they went ballistic
Doh! These idiots....the reason long (or maxi) skirts are designed with a slit in the side is that unless you take "dolly" steps you cannot walk without it!

Darknight757 you I right, I believe, what is it with middle eastern men and HAIR?! Well I guess their beautiful thick shiny hair, both male and female, is pretty Lush!!!
However it is the hair that is the issue, hence Jewish women shave their hair, so that not a speck if it may pop out and enrage God and man! JWs that napkin just wouldn't cut it in the literal world of the OT they adore so much! Not sure what the OT is really getting at with the whole hair issue, can anyone enlighten us?

Any EXCESS funds should be sent to us, WTBTS ( i.e. not required for now defunct KH upkeep) . Or for overseer's of course. But.....
NO mention of funds being set up for dependents of those arrested or have lost jobs due to being JW's.
They care nothing for the trusting sheep. Just "their" money.

What??!!!?? No celebration for the son who was dead and now has humbly returned? You mean they jumped on him like a pack of wolves?
Summed up perfectly.
Where are the hugs to welcome back the brother who was out in the cold? It breaks my heart how such wonderful people are so abused and deluded. I am so glad your friend has moved on and his eyes are wide open now.

JW Cart encounter
by Listener ini've seen very few carts in western australia.
the only one i have seen is near the front entrance of the perth royal hospital and on the several occasions that i have seen it, they are there all day, at least during the week.
i've stopped and had long conversations twice now and both times when i have approached them they've told me to take whatever publications interest me and then we've started talking.this last visit i brought up the royal commission.

. The JW was quick to tell me how the Commission praised them for being so organized. In fact they were the most organized of all organizations because they had copious notes prepared and lists of details.
GASP!!Oh yes we're organized, the most organized organizational organization organized as God's organizational organizations are always organized.
But we don't worry about child abuse, domestic violence, suicide, mental illness, the death of new mothers/young women, splitting up families, or the care of homeless older Bethelites who have given their whole lives to us in service. No. But we're bloody well organized. -

My New Fascination - Evolution!
by pale.emperor insince leaving watchtower i kind of hit the "reset" button in my mind and reevaluated what i thought i knew, what i believe and i require proof for every idea put before me before i commit to it.
lately i've been fascinated with evolution.
as a jw i never even looked at the subject, dismissing it as "just a theory".

I mean, the bones that have been found of are not ape (we know what ape bones look like) and not modern human either.
Isn't it amazing to study the bones of our "cousins" I guess you'd call them - non Sapien hominids ( i.e. not human beings but humans of another species). You don't have to be an expert to see, wow it's so obvious, that these bones sure neither ape nor Homo Sapien, they are so radically different to either. Very quickly you learn to look for the common differences - the size of the brain case, the pelvis...you can quickly tell if they walked upright, the strange shape ape skulls have whereby they anchor the large cheek muscles required for chewing rough leaves and vegetation. But most of all, the teeth. It must be fascinating being a paleo-dentist ( I've just made up that name! Don't know their scientific designation). The teeth can tell you so much it's incredible. The small space behind the back molars that gets bigger the further back you go in time, until at some point it indicates another species.
When you put a chimp, Homo Sapien, Homo Neanderthalensis, Homo habilis, Homo Erectus, Australopithecus Africanus, Homo Heidelbergensis...all together, it is blatantly obvious we share common desce##- # nt. It is also obvious they are not our species but neither are they apes.
And, of course, they are all extinct - except us - why? Brains or braun? Time or unforeseen occurence.?.or bloody murder?
