  Watchtower Doctrines JWs most commonly don't believe

  there was a recent thread on another site where posters maintained that many of the *most* long-standing jw's don't believe at least one official watchtower doctrine.

  i've even read reports from bethelites saying they've heard bethel overseers say they don't believe some watchtower theology.

  this made me think - i believe there are a few official doctrines that are common for many jw's to be either in denial about or simply not really believe ( often one and the same thing).. i'd say these are pretty high in the ranking:.

    I don't think the average jw likes to admit they essentially teach salvation though works and obedience and there dogma is one is outside of having a relationship with God.

    Yes, excellent point, thank you !This *definitely* comes under the denial category, as, despite numerous scriptures to the contrary, Watchtower dogma is as you say regarding essentially only works to gain salvation. This is a major one for sure.

  I always tell people that family are allowed normal relations with DF ones and can *only not talk about spiritual things*. As far as I know, despite the horrible convention videos, that has never officially changed!

  Wow Compound Co. that's incredible about old Knorr!!

  Its hard to be too sympathetic with him, though, as you would with a regular Jo. Although he went along with Cheif loony Fred Franz, the very least he could have done is out-law shunning and DF. That way, should others have his doubts, they would be spared the consequences he would never have had to face.

  Distracted I remember they used to say that resurrected people (to an earthly resurrection) probably(?) won't be able to marry, have sex, or produce offspring. They would be like the angels. I'm sure people had problems with that one, especially if they lost a mate in death.The literature did not hold out any hope for a differing view on that point.

  Hi, thank you, good point! That's definitely one I remember " rumblings" about - I don't know if it is still "official"...I think they haven't mentioned it for a long time ( I guess they want to limit the flip flops!)

  That *everyone* Will die at Armageddon ( kids included) who are not jw's

  The historicity of the flood

  Gay People " choose" to be that way

  Jesus is *only* the mediator for the 144,000

  Can anyone think of more ( I haven't included Watchtower traditions like no beards, women participating more in cong responsibilities like sound booths, bible reading, literature desk etc and counting time but perhaps you guys would ) Perhaps someone would like to attempt a list in order of a rough percentage estimate of each "DODGY DOCTRINE"!!( not that they all aren't )

  Lott video and " Vanity" of modern JW women

  one thing i picked up from the " remember the wife of lott" video was the amount of time the jw women gave over to improving their looks.. in days of old i doubt a jw wife would have been portrayed in a salon having a lot of beauty treatments .. that's not to say it would be looked down on, per sa, i just doubt it would have been portrayed on official propaganda videos as an acceptable way for jw women to spend time that could be otherwise given over to promoting " kingdom interests".

  given the way the org uses anything to belittle women i'm surprised they let those scenes fly without negative comment.. just a minor point ....i know the vids have been done to death by now!!

  One thing I picked up from the " Remember the Wife of Lott" video was the amount of time the jw women gave over to improving their looks.

  In days of old I doubt a jw wife would have been portrayed in a salon having a lot of beauty treatments .

  That's not to say it would be looked down on, per sa, I just doubt it would have been portrayed on official propaganda videos as an acceptable way for jw women to spend time that could be otherwise given over to promoting " kingdom interests". Given the way the org uses anything to belittle women I'm surprised they let those scenes fly without negative comment.

  Just a minor point ....I know the vids have been done to death by now!!!

  I've Just Noticed Something About The "Remember The Wife Of Lot" Video

  maybe you guys got on to this right away, but i've just noticed something about the remember the wife of lot video.. we all know the scene where the judgmental jw dad gives that disapproving look to the girl who has lesbian parents:.

  this look actually appears again throughout the video - but on other jws.

  in the scene where the new brother is out in service with the former co. look at the new brothers reaction to when a "worldly" person knows the former co from work:.

  The real estate sister that worked in the so hot real estate market so that they mortgaged their condo to buy something better, but couldn't rent out the condo because the rental market was soft?

  Given that it was supposed to represent New York, what is the chance you couldn't rent out a nice flat like that? Actually in any city?

  had the misfortune of stopping by the "regional" convention yesterday.

  i promised my daughter i would come to sunday afternoon so she wouldnt have to ride home with her mother.... holy crap it was weird!

  im sure all of this has been covered on the forum but to actually see it.... just wow.

  tepidpoultry I've noticed clothing changes...for men ( off platform)more über formal, for women more "dressy" and glam in comparison to "The Little House on the Prarie" aesthetic of yore.

  Interesting about the Monarch. Also, another site stated the butterfly image was amoung four recently taken off the classified list by the FBI, it's used as the symbol paedophiles ( specifically those attracted to young girls) identify other paedophiles by.
