i have heard of a few negative comments from some that attended - one jw even openly said to me "not very encouraging, all they go on about is money lately" and another (a serving elder, no less) said "someone's got to pay for all those lawsuits".
Ah thank you Sir 82, so it's actually WT trying to get the publishers to donate to them, rarther than another charity, in order for the pubs to reduce their income tax for the year. Got it!
Wouldn't know about that being a lowly nurse. I give my measly monthly donation by direct debit to 3 charities but I don't think it would ever be worth it for me to claim! We are allowed to claim deductions on our stockings, too, I've never done that either!

hi lads, WiFi, Dark spilver etc just a quick question from a financial dyslexic (?!) Why would they push for donations at the end of the financial year? I mean surely if you donated in, say, Jan or Feb '18 they would just claim the monies as tax exempt from *that* year - I guess what I'm saying is why in heck would it make any difference to them....every year is 'tax free' year to them!
Unless....they suspected it might all change as govts wise up to non-charity doing cults like them?!

I've also heard from Paul Grundy he and his first wife were basically decent sorts, (I'm sure his second wife was a poor hard working islander who used to pioneer with them when he was a missionary in Polynesia, so I'd like to free her too).
I think hes a born in who was a seriously brainwashed child, his parents were hard core and converted Grundys family.

. The WT will use him for a while, but at some point some senior WT official will take exception to something about him and he'll be out of favour. Then they'll use someone else for a while, and so on. this has possibly been brought up before however here goes.. constant reference is made by many posters to scientific research as being the only way to prove something factual that would otherwise have to be taken on faith.
there actually seems to be "faith" in scientific findings.. my experience over many years is that most scientific research is fake.
nothing oftencomes of the big announcements made to raise more money.. money, prestige, pride, human error, suppositions etc., are rife amongst the scientific community.. i realise that there have been many advances over hundreds of years but humankind is in a mess, although very different to even a century ago.. the medical profession now has vaccinations for everything, antiviral drugs etc.
I'll just add my tuppence to the fray.
Unfortunately, scientific research requires money. And that's where entities like pharmaceutical companies, with not the best of reputations, come in. And of course companies and orgs with agendas like the tobacco growers association etc that fund research. But, that's why the scientific method is so essential...scientists can come along and falsify any dubious research or claims.
as Cofty said you need to use critical thinking to sift through the marketing, media attention grabs etc to get to the valuable research that is done using the best weapon man has against superstition and bias which is, for now, the scientific method.

Just so you know, Apostle just means messenger, or emissary.
Dubs could, in theory if they were educated in Biblical Greek enough, claim their C.O.'s are apostles....so yes, they are still around.
