Jayubyadotorg good catch!!!
mark o'donnell ( john redwood) has outdone himself in this excellent piece on watchtower's appeal to the supreme court regarding their definition of clergy-penitent rights.. the case they are appealing revolves around gilbert simental, a known abuser who, although eventually removed as an elder, was allowed to remain in a position of respect, with the parents of his victims kept in the dark about the risk he posed to the children with whose care he was entrusted.
.
anyway it's an excellent piece and well worth reading.. https://jwsurvey.org/news/jehovahs-witnesses-lose-california-child-abuse-case-appeal-to-u-s-supreme-court-part-one.

domestic violence in the “tooth”... is this a thing?!.
you are starting to know me by now as i’m always full of questions... my clogs are always in motion and never stop... so another question for you to give me some guidance if you can.
based on pasts experience or cases you might heard of or seen, what advice could you give me in helping someone that is a jehovah witness, married with another jw but lives a marriage that is plagued by emotional domestic abuse and financial control?
She needs to document everything, with dates and times, but put any writings etc, in a safe place away from the husband. Write a diary of events, of stresses, of impacts, of the shoving etc. Maybe she can give the diarys to you, to keep safe from her husband. She needs to keep receipts as much as she can of his spending on himself
I agree with this but the problem is she won't do it if she thinks it's collecting data to use against him.
So...Why not ask her to write a regular diary - and pour her heart out to it, don't hold back - as a good way of dealing with stress etc and helping her to be a better Christian
BUT of course this has the real advantage of documenting his behaviour, albeit in a modified way,
1.however should she need it in the future it's there, in writing
2. It may help her to see how bad things really are ( and they are) when she reflects back on how her life is progressing via the diary.
And yes, isn't it awful how the victim gets judged???
so.. you are a jw or studying, living your life and doing your bit, feverish of spreading the good news to everyone that will listen!.
you prep yourself for meetings, doing your ministry and applying all that there is into your daily life.. so....i have a question... you know... my clogs.
when you where completely in the religion, did you ever think about the impact of your way of life and religion towards others, specially those that lived around you such as good friends or family members that didn’t studied?
I mean, really, isn't it ridiculous to think that either baptizing a child at birth or being the minor child of baptised jw parents should give those children protection that other children are not worthy of?
That fact alone should make you realise that all religions are guff.
As to your question, I sort of completely inwardly denied that almost *anyone* would die in Armageddon. I thought people wouldn't be punished for not "understanding" or having "time".
a month ago i sent a letter to the us branch about 607. my purpose for sending it was because i wanted to show to my parents through the letters the truth behind the date system.
two days ago, i received a response from them.
i think this is gonna be the first of many.
Sir 82 Their reasoning is specious, of course, but at least they acknowledge the sources which discredit their attempts to use 607. That's more than they've ever done in print.
It might well be a form letter as Room 215 suggests. It would be interesting for someone else to submit another query and see if they get the same reply.
I'm absolutely amazed they sent you such a detailed letter. Many have submitted similar queries with zero response. I think, too they must have had so many inquiries they've decided to trott out a standard response from now on.
I say they're getting more worried about some of the big criticisms they are getting - 607, micro managing, beards the list goes on.

Calm down children!!
The title was a joke, naturally.
Yes of course I wish dubs every little bit of happiness they can squeeze out of life.
Hell I wish everyone every bit of happiness they can squeeze out of life.
When you have someone you love close to death, as magnum and I both do ( and mine has a one year old child) you really stop focusing on the minor things. However when you can't see the person you love because of the pharasic bullying of this religions adherents well, you tend to loose your sense of humour about things pretty quick.

I think in cases of physical abuse the advice is clear cut. No one should tolerate it and there is plenty of help available although many mothers fear loosng their children if they make the authorities aware ( I'm just being honest here). And that is in western countries. In many places homelessness rears its ugly head if a wife chooses to leave.
But in many ways the real problems arise when the abuse is more subtle, as in the case above. Financial control, psychological and emotional abuse. Shouting and name calling etc aggressive and demeaning speech.
Without therapy people rarely change and if they are young the stress of raising a family and JW demands can bring out the worst in men who cannot cope with that stress in a healthier way. Either that or it is learnt behaviour..
many of us know that watch tower (yes, two words in this case) has issued a subpoena to reddit to try to gain darkspilver's identity due to accusations of copyright infringement:.
tl;dr: on april 9, watch tower filed a response to the eff's motion to quash (filed march 26) regarding the subpoena submitted to reddit in an attempt to find /u/darkspilver's identity.. the wt response is publicly available here as a pdf, from the site court listener.. a number of other documents relating to the case are available on the same site, here.. and the eff's motion to quash is available on the eff's website here.. details: as i'm sure many of us know, watch tower (yes, two words in this case) has issued a subpoena to reddit to try to gain /u/darkspilver's identity due to accusations of copyright infringement.
specifically, watch tower is claiming copyright infringement for two things: first, darkspilver posted the back page of the november 2018 watchtower which was an article entitled "what gift can we give to jehovah?” which explained how to donate.
Thanks so much Blondie for posting. It sounds all good and I'd be very surprised if the judge rules in Watchtower's favour
It seems as if Reddit has met the requirements of the Takedown and taking the issue any further doesn't serve to achieve anything from a copyright point of view or "taking traffic away' from JW.orgs website (Lol). It also seems from a procedural point of view Magistrate Kim should not have ruled the way she did without first consulting with Darkspilver (consent).
Either way the harms would be very great for future (1st amendment) rights to annonymous commentry, which surely must be the courts first priority given that DS is not a US citizen anyway.
