  Montana Supreme Court will hear the $35M case tomorrow

  the montana case enters the home stretch.

  the state supreme court will hear oral arguments tomorrow, 13 september, at the northern hotel in billings during the state bar of montana’s annual meeting (announcement 1, announcement 2).

  an introduction to the argument will begin at 9:30 a.m., with the argument starting at 10 a.m. (4 p.m. utc, 9 a.m. sf time, 12 a.m. ny time, 5 p.m. london time, 2 a.m. saturday sydney time).

  Ok so no clergy then there is no lawsuit. No person can be held liable to protect a third party.

  JC323 The thing is they are trying to have it both ways. There is a legal term for it that slips my mind. The are now claiming they do have a clergy and therefore clergy-penitent privilege. However in the case of a complaint of child abuse the child is not confessing, no. 1 and no.2 it is far from confidential with many people becoming aware. They are claiming this is part of their normal religious proceeding and therefore they are being unfairly penalised in the way, for example, a catholic confession would not be. However this is all by the by because Montana has a law that clergy must report as indeed everyone must, so whether they have clergy or not is irrelevant.

  i admit i have a soft spot for leonard cohen's music.

  i had a customer come in who sings for funerals, he just told me his most requested is cohen's "hallelujah".

  a good friend used to sing it at christmas in her church!

  Bird on a wire is my favourite, though.

  Peacefulpete I also remember my 4 year old son insisting I buy “The Future” many years ago, he was obsessed with it!

  my uber cousin and wife are going back to wallkill this weekend for the annual meeting since they have a daughter and son in law in the inner sanctum so they are always invited.

  cousin said it was going to be broadcast from patterson to wallkill.

  anyone hear anything else about subject matter etc?.

  Apparently, this is to reduce costs since now you can just release a new hard copy of a book to several thousand attendees and tell the minions that there is a loving provision to request it later or preferably just download it later.

  This damn religion gets more like Scientology all the time! There will soon be a premium on these "first edition" hard copies...an a group of "level one" Masonic elites to go with them ( ok ! Ok! Just kidding!) - might even get a copy signed by Stephen Lett to auction for a kings ransome!

  Fink I was working on the outside of a house that day which was very close to a major airport, watching the planes come in one after other, thinking oh oh this could be something big.

  Fink I take it you must be in Canada? I had no idea what Canada did that day.

  Toes have not. My youngest was a baby. The next generation may not think of it like us oldies.

  You would think so, yet It's funny my 13 year old son scolded me for not mentioning it. If you do the maths you will know he wasn't born when it happened (AND he's from another country). Yet he is a child born in that decade and it has most profoundly made its mark in his psyche

  i am conscious of the fact that i was at a genetically determined disadvantage academically; i was never going to be outstanding in my achievements, no matter how hard i tried.

  Simon if we're helpless because of what others did to us then it's going to be a pretty miserable existence.

  For sure I think it's called "learned helplessness" and I've noticed it seems to be pretty common among witnesses and affects their chances of moving out and on with their lives.

  Anyone Tried "Sous Vide" Cooking?

  i like a nice steak but cooking one can be a little intimidating and the results hit and miss especially when it comes to getting the right temperature so getting it wrong can be an expensive mistake.

  can anyone do that "finger and thumb together to check the doneness" thing?

  i can't .... so i came across this cooking technique called "sous vide" which cooks food (in a sealed vacuum bag) in a warm water bath, even steak.

  Has anyone got one of those AMAZING Miele ovens with the Sous Vide drawer/and or Steam oven??? I think most professional restaurant kitchens rate their induction hobb and their sous vide drawer/steam oven best of all. If you’re going to regularly cook sous vide maybe you should consider a Miele steam oven* next time you purchase a new oven, Simon?

  PS what is a pinch method of telling if a steak is done please?

  *you can also bake wicked bread that way, too!

  about 7:30, june 9, 2010, theodore ("ted") jaracz, one of the members of the governing body ruling over jehovah's witnesses, died.

  previously, on may 19, 2009, he had had a serious stroke, but recently seemed to have made a big recovery, giving some assembly talks.

  I think it's unlikely the lawyers have any "physical documentation". What is interesting is whether the court will order discovery on these allegations (i.e., order Watchtower to produce the relevant documents in its possession).

  Wow. Thank you Corney. If on “ information and belief” can mean as little as “on Rumour”(U.S.C.A.) I presume that they don’t have any hard evidence but that Barbara Anderson’s testimony is good enough for Zalkin.

  I hope they do force Watchtower to hand over all information they have on Jaracz. If it can be proven that a known molester was allowed to formulate policies on how paedophile “clergy” were dealt with ( allowed to remain/be appointed if the incident took place more than 3 years prior) ensuring victims were silenced and rewarding C.O.s who enforced this policy, it will blow the doors wide open for victims to sue the GB the world over.

  I can’t begin to imagine how many young lives he destroyed between 1974 and 2010. If the GB knew his motives, that would make them PESONALLY culpable, in my view, for not changing their policies....being indoctrinated will not excuse it.
