Hey Bahi I call a 12 year old a little girl. That’s despicable. Anything could have happened to you. Believe me older girls than that have been kidnapped by strangers and terrible things happened. They are not fit to be around children some witnesses👿

Hypocritical elders
by JimmyYoung ini used to work with an elder every day for several years.
one thing that helped me out of the cult was his hypocrisy.
our work was in construction and it would often run us late for meetings.

This song resonates with me
by moley inhttps://youtu.be/88sarufu-tc.
i know this song is a about a guy coming out as gay, but it’s the way he is shunned and has to move out of his family home.

Hey Moley I was an 80s kid who had issues with her family and this song certainly resonates with me, too.
So very sad.
NB “Moley” is the nickname I give to my son ;)

How old is old?
by joey jojo inhaving a conversation with a pimi elder and i asked him how he deals with the fact that he never expected to get old.
i get the feeling that some dubs still have the original generation explanation hard-wired, even though they claim to accept the new version.
so my question is, how old do you have to be to be considered old?

it is a puzzle why the Bible should say 70 or 80 years for the human lifespan. Perhaps the compilers of the Psalms were looking at the optimistic age for death in the text they had-- and it reminded them of Moses long life-- so they attributed Psalm 90 to him? Otherwise they must have just made up the ages to sound impressive. However the Bible's claims in Psalm 90 regarding human longevity, is not backed up by the unremarkable archaeological finds of ancient Canaan.
I think the average and median ages would be skewed by high infant mortality rates, and women dying in childbirth. If you take war, famine and uncommon situations like the plague of 1400’s out of the statistics the ages were probably pretty similar to today.I’ve heard that the ages of hunter gatherers were pretty high. Remember our two biggest killers - heart disease, diabetes and many types cancer predicated on diet and smoke etc would have been virtually unknown. I know cancer existed ( dinosaurs had cancer) and I expect it’s bred into us in terms of mutation driving evolution. But many types of cancer are related to modern lifestyles.
We started getting sick when we became sedentary farmers, living in close proximity with each other and, most importantly, our animals.
If you think about some of the worst recent epidemics they began as cross species diseases(there’s a word for it, slips my mind but It probably begins with Xeno or zoo )
We are healthier taking lots and lots of physical exercise (running!)and not eating too much. I have a belief one veggie meal a day and meat maximum once a week keeps you healthy. Green leafy veg, whole food etc

Scruff Im 30 and feel old!
Im also condidered an old father medically speaking.
Not quite. I think the age for a geriatric mother (Yes, that is the term or at least was) is 35. I don't think there is any such *medical* concept for a father but I do know the average age for parenthood is getting older every year. The area I live in the average parent is mid thirties for first child.

Christmas Trees.
by Lost in the fog inwe are all very familiar with the fact that jws do not celebrate xmas.
we probably used the same speech as we had been told from the platform that since xmas had its roots in paganism everything associated with it was a big no-no.
xmas trees, definitely a no-no!

Very interesting Lost in the Fog I tend to think that practical things emerged in early man before ceremonial etc and it was likely the health benefits of pine were was the real reason the people brought them into the house in the winter. They were obsessed with ‘miasma’ and bad air so if people had coughs colds and illness they burnt pine needles to purify the air. It’s also handy to have a ready supply of fire wood INSIDE the house in case of heavy snowfall, storms etc or illness.
