if you are actually following it, not just listening to the media, you will likely realize that there is a huge gap between what is going on in court and what is being reported in the media.. if the trial was fair, i think he should be acquitted.

there is plenty of reasonable doubt about the cause of death (his dealer doesn't want to testify because he could be guilty of 3rd degree murder for selling him a fatal amount of fentanyl) and even doubt over whether the officer even had his knee on the guys neck or did anything counter to what they were meant to do as per policy.. but is it fair?

MMM But look, I agree at the point he was put on the ground, he was probably feeling panic. But that’s the problem with a criminal throwing every fake excuse out to avoid arrest - if there is real distress, it is that much less believable. Even before he was on the ground, he was saying he can’t breathe. It was all boy-who-cried-wolf to some extent.

It’s interesting at the moment if you look on Reddit or youtube there’s an absolute flood of arrest videos with police officers put in the most dangerous and impossible situations. Because much of it is body cam footage, I’m pretty sure it’s officers themselves posting it (or maybe supportive admin or I.T. staff) I think as you say it’s an attempt to show the public the sort of situations they face on a daily basis. Situations which lead human beings to start having to seriously start protecting themselves first and foremost if they want to survive their careers.

Even though I mention the 2% of sociopaths in probably all walks of life, including the police, I’m well aware that the majority of coppers do the best they can as you say in often impossible situations.

It's also been addressed in questions from readers. Not only are you misrepresenting Watchtower's teaching on this manner, Watchtower actually proves its point with references

JOFi_WOFO To be fair it was I that raised this point, not TTWSYF. He merely replied to my post.

However, as in many things, Watchtower speaks out of both sides of its mouth. On many occasions they used this scripture from the platform as a way of explaining the RC position on Mary was wrong. Although they were clear he respected her as mother when a child they seemed to be quite disparaging of her* being 'as any other woman' once he reached adulthood and began his ministry.

*Typical of their extreme misogyny. They can't bear that a woman should have a place of honour in any religion.

Simon People who haven't had any religious upbringing can know right and wrong. In fact, studies show that babies as young as a few months can make judgements on whether someone is mean or kind to others.

I remember being at a mother & toddler when my twins were babies. There were about 40 mother's sitting in a huge circle and the babies playing in a giant scrum in the centre (ah for the days before Covid!😜)

Well one of my son's must have been thirsty because he suddenly side eyed another baby who was drinking from his bottle and had put it down. My son slowly wiggled & crawled over to the bottle. Looking around carefully, he slid over to the bottle and whilst trying to look away as disinterested as possible his hand shot out sideways as he grabbed the bottle and took a crafty glug.

He then guiltily looked over his shoulder at me! I swear that child was not even 9 months old - yet he knew that bottle belonged to someone else and that he shouldn't have taken it.
Sure young babies can know they've done wrong, but usually once they're told off But It was the amount of strategy he used to get to it - all the while displaying the fact he knew he shouldn't be doing it - that surprised me.

PP I actually I read a while back that there were some manuscripts that relate the "Actual" Story of Mary. Supposedly Mary got pregnant by a young Roman soldier. The law of Israel forbid any girl to marry a gentile. At the same time any non-married pregnant Israelite girl was subject to being stone to death.

That would explain why there's no further mention of Joseph in any manuscripts...the rumour is that Joseph; as an older father, had passed away by the time Jesus began his ministry.

I heard a lot of people make that point. If someone says they can’t breathe, they are lying. If you can speak, you are moving air across your vocal chords. You can breathe.

No MMM, They’re not lying , they’re panicking. Not many untrained people in that situation are capable of being rational. I expect that’s kinda the point.

The damming evidence in this case is shown by the police's body cam footage when one officer goes to check for a pulse on Floyd's arm and says I dont get a pulse but all the officers there including Chauvin didn't make a motion to turn him over and try to resuscitate him.

I agree. In my view this is the most important point. It’s a question of professional negligence.

There’s a lot of people on this board that have strong feelings both ways about this case.

Would Floyd be alive today if he hadn’t been arrested, or had been arrested by someone else? Possibly, possibly not.

No one comes out of this looking good. Even though Floyd had done some illegal and stupid things, things that led to his arrest that day, the salient point is that whatever the rights and wrongs Derek Chauvin was paid to be the responsible one. Was supposedly trained to be the responsible one, too. A position he willingly took on. So personally I think he should be dishonourably discharged from his post and, given Floyds other issues, because I think it’s impossible to prove beyond reasonable doubt that Derek Chauvin is guilty of Floyds murder, the victim’s family should sue Chauvin, and the other officers, for negligence in a civil court.

That’s because the chances of someone of surviving heart failure outside of a hospital environment are slim. Also I’m guessing in the ambulance they have a controlled and safe environment in which to focus on the patient, rather than what’s going on around them. I guess that’s especially true in some metropolitan areas, no? “Maintain a safe environment” is literally one of the priorities in patient care.

You seem to imagine that illegal drugs are produced with as much care as legal drugs. If what you say were true we wouldn't see a huge spike in overdose deaths from fentanyl.

We're not dealing with a smart person here.

Here's another thought experiment:

You can either have someone kneel on your shoulder for a few minutes.

OR

You can be given a dose of fentanyl 3x over the lethal limit.

Fentanyl is NOT an illegal drug, it can be made in pharmaceutical labs perfectly legally but Floyd was taking it without a legal prescription by a Dr. The spike in deaths was due to the fact that they were selling it and saying it was heroin and people didn't know.

I've known many addicts with very high IQs. It's emotional damage that causes addiction. If the cop just had his knee on the guys shoulder there wouldn't be this court case.

There's no doubt Chauvin's defence will argue that we can't definitively know what killed him.A good lawyer will be able to put enough doubt in a jury's mind after all (and especially considering what he's facing) it's got to be beyond reasonable doubt.

Exactly. Ego took priority over training and the safety of his detainee.

reThat’s not good enough in a trained officer. Or was he trained? I read somewhere that American cops in certain states are only given 3 months training. Nowhere near enough time given the level of danger they are regularly put in. Human instinct will kick in, and when that happens no one is safe.

Remember our bodies might be in twenty first century America, but our brains are still out there on the Savannah where it evolved over millions of years. Sapiens have only lived in relatively safe and settled communities for a few thousand years by comparison.

I did say usually. Yes addicts overdose, of course they do. But if we put alcohol -related stats to one side, it’s usually, almost universally in fact, when they use for the first time after having given up for some time.

I don’t believe that is the case with Floyd. He was, however, getting older and that could be the salient fact when it comes to the possibility of his having a cardiac arrest.
