  What is "Home coming"? A lot of things Americans do such as have sororities and "graduation" balls, only the upper classes do in the UK.

  probably fuelled by greed as well as hubris, because he collected thousands of dollars on the livestream, before it sunk in with his viewers what he was actually saying.

  Heck yes. When the Reddit mods changed over fairly early on I believed he'd installed his stooges, so biased was it. At one point it was just another extension of his empire.

  When forum members moan that we're taking this thread too far, I really wish they'd consider just how bad the exjw community had got with him as king pin. If it wasn't for the fact he tripped up - mainly due to an over inflated sense of his own intelligence - he really could have ruled his own little fiefdom till Armageddon come.

  It's just disgusting that the idiot responsible was allowed to be president/a member of the GB. Did no one ever raise the fact he couldn't have had the holy spirit or that maybe he wasn't 'anointed' after all?😒

  R & R Fred Franz was there to give a talk. He shook his finger at the audience and said that nothing happened in 1975 because “You wanted something to happen.”

  I think they're aiming to create their own Christian Watchtower television channel 24 hours etc multiple languages for which dubbies will pay subscription. Also they will out-source work for profit. Either by renting their equipment to worldlies, or making video/film for worldlies to order by selling the labour of dubs working at Ramapo.

  Me too, Jan. There's a few here I miss. Someone mentioned youngsters using apps and I agree there. I think our demographic is a little older (not all of course) and sadly you do hear about people passing, too😔

  New rules for inactive ones?

  have the rules changed as far as disfellowshipping inactive ones when it's clear they are engaged in "wrongdoing?".

  i have a cousin in seattle who was disfellowshipped about 3 years ago or so and then went through the process of being reinstated (took only 6 months) and then proceeded to fade and do nothing regarding the jw's .

  fast forward to today and now she's had a baby out of wedlock and the uber jw elder father and mother are all on board somehow.

  It's also because this is likely to be their only grandchild given your cousin's age and her sisters position (unless there's others you didn't mention). If she helps care for the father - even nominally - they'll use the old 'necessary business' clause🙄

  ToH His main problem is that I don't think he can laugh at himself. If he could, he'd have material to spare.

  Bingo! I guessed he'd base his comedy on his JW years. The problem is when he's exhausted the few JW gags that are 'accessible' to non-JWs, where's he going to get his material from? It's also interesting that for a man whose such a perv, he's actually really straight-laced. All that performative respectability really gives me the Willie's about him. I like comedians who are really straight talking. No pretense.

  Oh don't 😂I mean I get it's a signal for Tibor to insert a link when he edits, but "gracious"???!! Really? More like 'If Tibor is a donut' he'll allow Cedar's to forever associate his name with the most lame catchphrase in history!!

  they always have high numbers preaching hours.

  Interesting! I wonder if it was seen as a job during the 30s40s50s etc?? Like other door to door salesmen, because that's why they started door to door, it was just a sales technique. Nothing to do with the Bible.

  I did know people who only counted hours actual door knocking (except for lunch or coffee break). But that was back in the 80s. By the 90s there seemed to be lots of little tricks like leaving tracts in libraries and launderettes miles apart etc We never drove only cycled or walked when preaching, so at least it never cost us petrol money.

  Christmas, yes or no ?

  i have just started to steep the mincemeat for my mince pies in dark rum .

  christmas is a big deal in my family and circle of friends.

  however among ex jws it's a bit different or so l understand.

  Absolutely I adore Christmas. When I was little I experienced Christmas at my grandparents, so I have fond memories.

  After I left I l volunteered a few times with shelter to give me something to do that didn't make me feel guilty. Then I had my kids and didn't have an excuse, so I went all out (husband's never been a JW). I would even go to church with my brother in Cambridge to hear the choristers at Kings😔

  I love the food but most of all I love the music more than anything and always have, so it's wonderful to be able to sing with gusto (yes I'm one of them!) now I know Watchtower is wrong!!
