  Samcats don't recall any articles with parents not eating with their children.

  Samcats I've been looking for it but I'll tell you what it looked like so it may jog your memory.

  There is either a fairly small photo or a drawing (bluish in tone?) of an older man (the father) sitting alone in the kitchen, at a small table (that may be attached to a wall) with his back to the door. He is eating alone in the house because his teenaged son has been disfellowshipped. The angle is sort of from above.

  It is a sort of life story I believe of a JW father whose young teenage son still living at home has been disfellowshipped. If I remember rightly the father was what we would probably call 'soft shunning' his son in the home because he believes it's what God wants, Is the moral thing to do and (of course) will bring his son back to watchtower. It intimates the son expects a normal relationship because he's still at home but the father makes it clear - by eating alone and keeping contact to a minimum - that that will not happen.

  Not being a JW a father may not want a son to use druxs or live a amoral lifestyle. The gov protects a person’s right to be free but a parent wants his son to be happy and to be healthy and to prosper. He won’t tolerate conduct that he believes is devastating to his child. The group lives by a moral code and allowing conduct outside the morality harms the offender and the group. The group should not be forced by the gov to tolerate conduct outside beliefs and practices of the group.

  And they are not forced to tolerate conduct outside their beliefs and practices. They are even free to shun. As adults.

  But the government has a duty to protect minors and social isolation is one of the cruelest things you can do to a social animal.

  If the father who wanted his son to stop drugs started beating him with a whip, the government would step in and stop it because it's child abuse. Even if the result was the child stopped drugs.

  But all of this is moot because, again for those at the back (Fisherman!) no one is stopping them practising their faith as they see fit . The government has certain criteria that any religion applying for the hand out must adhere too. Freedom to leave without consequences is one and child protection is another. Watchtower simply does not meet that criteria.

  In the 70s 80s & even 90s I knew Witnesses with real careers and good jobs give it all up to go out in the ministry as full time pioneers. There was none of this counting time by dumping a watchtower in the launderette then going on a two hour lunch break, either. So yes, I knew people who took it very seriously. Many others who put in good hours were were wracked with guilt at not being able to pioneer full time.

  Nowadays I've no idea because I'm not in close touch with anyone. I expect they excuse the ineffective cart witnessing as direction from the chariot so there must be a good reason to do it. Right? 🙄

  i remember our was tuesday, thursdays and saturdays.

  in reality it's crazy they hade so many meetings.

  The way lloyd has the tendency to “sanitize” information, I wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t know 🤦‍♀️

  There's no way they'd have time to investigate. With Megan & Josh he'll use the "these awful criminal liars have destroyed my channel and now Dijana will be out of a job and we won't be able to put food on the table! We can barely make ends meet!!" line.

  Having a young family himself, it will pull on Josh's heart strings.

  Do we know for sure what he had in his business account when he did that recent begging session, claiming to be skint? I'd like to demonstrate that he's lying about his financial situation.

  Presumably, everything was vetted and edited at the time. Even if he has gone bad now, what he did at the time was as a respected GB member. The witnesses don't disregard Solomon even though he went bad in the end.

  They also have the excuse that no one individual is the governing body, only when they meet together (at 10:00 am EST USA on a Wednesday morning)are they actually the GB, or the Faithfull slave.

  i have from a very reliable source that he attends one of the poughkeepsie ny congregations.

  i think there are 5 congregations there might be worth paying a visit if anyone lives near there..

  He for sure had some frac-ass with the others because his life story and other stuff is on JW.borg, but not morning worship which has most of his boozy talks. Particularly the one with the match blowing and the one where he says they won't ever change their shunning policy.

  Oh no it's such a shame Dr. Josh Bowen is doing a video with him.

  I absolutely guarantee he doesn't know a thing about Lloyd's history. He's an academic with a very young family plus twins. His wife Megan is an academic too with their own channel Digital Hammurabi. They're probably patrons of his themselves. I might email Megan and have a word. I think she'd be horrified to hear his life stream.

  it seems the watchtower are ploughing ahead with bigger and better film studios but come on, they really have no idea.. how come all the people in times past look like healthy, middle class americans/ europeans/australians in costume?

  even a visit to rural india today would give a hint of how people probably lived back then.

  Oh that's one of the most hilarious things watchtower ever drew....aside from the beach ball loving lion, of course (c'mon we all know lions don't play beach ball...those claws are a real bummer for a start!)
