T & J Do you think the org will change it's stance as to only "anointed" ones partaking? In fact, they view the whole Bible as being written for Christa brothers ie not most JWs.

The Memorial and my thoughts.
by Truth and Justice inno matter what opinions you may have, the memorial is very important to us.
many are opposed to the way the organization performs the memorial because of restrictive rules as to who should partake.
as jesus said in scripture, "keep doing this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.

Mike Why does this sound familiar?
I asked can’t you work from home? She said yes easier but they want us to come in to work,
all for free
Like Lloyd they probably don't want whatever she's working on outside their own hard drives ie nothing formatted to work anywhere outside of their total control!
Even if it selfishly means more effort and expenses incurred by the unpaid worker.

LmsAreduce the doctrinal rebuttals and attempt to cleverly weave them into his personal narrative instead of devoting chapters to it,
Good grief! I've never felt the urge to read Cedars book and I'm glad I didn't. Sounds like a jumbled up mess. I assumed he'd woven doctrinal issues into the narrative as it came up🤔 Sounds like it couldn't make up it's mind whether it was a memoir or a text book!!
The main reason I didn't read it was because I assumed the book would be rather sparse when it comes to his personal history.
A sheltered young Jehovah's witness from a stable British home, isn't going to have much of interest to relate....at least not a life full of what my kids call "mad lore" to relate!! Hence I suppose the inclusion of other people's stories?!
Also anyone not a Jehovah's witness, probably wouldn't find a young man whose memoir essentially consists 7of "I masturbated" a particularly revelatory read for, what, fifteen quid??!

If the org. Is being advised by consultants, is a name change in the works?
by nowwhat? inlet's be honest, there's a stigma to the name jehovah's witness.
if they are going more mainstream.
i imagine the first recommendation was a name change.

Stan the man they should definitely dump the word WATCHTOWER. Lose the prison camp connotation.
Oh lor I can't believe they didn't ditch it eons ago. It's only a legal title - the dubs won't care - but it has a really dark connotation.
But drop Jehovah? I can't see that happening anytime soon🤔
The irony is it is a totally made up word and the one thing they could drop using legitimate references & proof (of which many JWs are already aware) and referring back to the old Watchtowers that have already explained the dubious origin of the word.

Elmer Would Lloyd have been DFed same situation now? No if he went to that much effort at all the JD meetings he would not be DFed now.
LmsAThe level of detail and the hoops he had to jump through doesn't match the crime of sexting.
And bear in mind, this is with a father who is (by all accounts) an elder who wields considerable power. How likely is someone with that level of protection to get DF for one or even two incidents of sexting?

Jeff He seriously needs an editor to take an axe to that monster.
His ego is too fragile to listen to the recommendations of a professional editor. He'd become offended and go off on one.

The one thing no one ever makes Jesus look is Jewish lol
He looks like a hipster barista at Starbucks. Did you want some avocado on toast with that seven dollar cup of coffee? Maybe some Mumford and sons tickets?

New light isn't that new outside the USA?
by KerryKing inall this recent new light etc has everyone talking but none of it is that unusual here in ireland.
i've been df'd for 15 years, my parents started talking to me again when i had my first child nearly 13 years ago now.
last year my sister in law started talking to me again also, at the one meeting i attended last year quite a few people chatted to me and said hello.. i'm just wondering if all this is only a big deal in the usa or is this neck of the woods just particularly rebellious anyway?

15 years ago we had elders with full beards in the cong,
Yes I'm in the UK and I knew JWs in good standing with very full beards....and not particularly neat, either.
70s converts. In Europe/UK Jws attracted a lot of hippy types back then
Phizzy I understand how naturally different things would be in Ireland, i have a good number of relatives there, love the place and the people.
Me too. Going to Ireland always feels like coming home. And I'm English lol.

June 2024 WT: Don't talk about Anthony Morris
by neat blue dog inthe latest study edition mentions hypothetical scenarios of jws who are no longer serving at bethel or no longer elders, etc.
and says we shouldn't speculate, as defaming them could border on slander.. we could unintentionally defame someone by spreading negative information.
..... would it be proper to speculate on the reasons why these adjustments were made and to share that opinion with others?.

Around here , I note the the dubs I know never know who the members of the GB are anyway.
I know, many in the UK couldn't identify them at all. But I'd guess you may be more likely to find inquisitiveness about Tony Morris in and around Bethel/New York/ the Warwick area, where JWs are more familiar with member's of the Governing body and Bethelites in general??
