i'm still 'in' and this website is the only thing that's been keeping me sane for a long while.. knowing that i'm not alone, the success stories, and the constant update of breaking news that provides hope such as the exposure of the organisation at the hands of the royal commission makes me happy while i'm stuck in this dark hole.

that's so especially today when i'm dealing with a sht storm of personal issues and the pretending that everything is fine is just rubbing pepper into my wounds.

i'm thankful for this website and all you beautiful people.

To find suggestions to lessen your stress right now? Remember though it will pass, all the negative feelings will pass at some stage.

The Watchtower Corporation says that they have the highest form of righteous spirituality for humanity them alone ....Really ?

the wts for the longest time has been making a claim that their organization is the truest and purest form of spirituality toward god, yet throughout those years, decades and now century, the wts has been notably corrupt, devious and maligning in its expressed doctrines.

most of that has obviously has come from the earnest endeavor to proliferate the literature the organization printed and published themselves.. in spite of that fact people seem to be afraid to question this opposing affirmation and just let it all pass irregardless.. one of things that eventually woke myself up years ago was the acknowledgment that the wts was being untruthful and devious in making up the 1975 doctrine.

the 6000 years dating calculation of mankind's existence was actually used 60 years previously by the wts.

Couldn't agree more. OBrien and Spinks are company men all the way. I guess their reasoning is, well, at least we are not working for I G Farben..or the company that made agent orange or Bratz dolls 😜 etc etc It could be worse..couldn't it????!!!

Hi, I couldn't see listed the wicked scene when Blowfield elder (the red faced one with the white hair ) suddenly twigged that it was morally repugnant not to consider the safety of "worldly" children. His expression was priceless.

I suppose he's a bit like his hero Jehoover in that sense, not giving a rats a*#e about kids come armaggedon.

Looking at some of the events that led up to the RC in Australia I came across this letter, submitted to the D.P.P. by Steven Upthank, in relation to the Crown discontinuing prosecution of the Governing Body of Jehovahs Witnesses. Steven has suffered shunning due to his concern and determination to help the children within the christian congregation of Jehovahs Witnesses who have been the victims of sexual abuse.

Some of the details are bizzare and my question are in relation to the prevelence of child sexual abuse in the JW and the Catholic church IN PARTICULAR. Both these churches share the supression of normal human sexual desires. In the case of Catholicism the clergy are prevented from marrying. The JW are only discouraged from marrying, but if they do strict rules govern what they can and cannot do with their partners. In fact, as became clear during the Royal Commission, that which may occur between consenting adults , if it conflicts with the bible, including lying and adultary (we know also masterbation and homosexuality to be on the list)is considered SO MUCH WORSE THAN CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE. The only mention of which in the bible occurs in such examples as Numbers 31, where God , through the words of his prophet Moses, actively encourages such behaviour. No wonder it is so low on their list of priorities, when they take their moral cue from bronze age tribes who worship a God that places rules on cruel animal sacrifice at the pinicle of all knowledge he could impart to us.

So my basic premise is this

1) If you suppress human sexuality do people express it in covert ways. Bizzare behaviour (eg the lego) or with kids, which is not so likely to be discovered. If discovered it's not dealt with severely because it is not expressly forbidden in the bible

2)Belonging to a religon that specifically gives no voice to women and children and particularly sees them as "less than," are you going to attract men that seek to abuse women and children because the power balance is so very unequal.

Lets face it it, terrible things happened in biblical times BECAUSE women and children had no redress (not to mention slaves and prisoners of war etc ).We have moved on since then which is why we no longer look to the Bible for moral guidence. The BIBLE, as a MORAL COMPASS is DEFICIENT in almost every way, which why mankind has had to create superior guides such as THE UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS. Mankind 10 Jehovah 0

Memphis Typically they'd try to use confessional privilege to defend themselves from any obligation to report under this law, but they've not been doing that in Oz, and after Stewart's demolition of how it shouldn't be considered 'secret' I wonder whether other common law jurisdictions will take another look at the issue from this angle.

Boy I hope this RC has a profound effect in Britain..it should do as a common law duristriction. Ditto Canada and the USA.

COGNAC fully agree with you...Toole MUST have known that a crime as serious as child sexual abuse would fall under misprision ...The real problem is, as justice Maclellen rightly pointed out, is that they see SINS such as lying and adultery so much worse than CRIMES such as child abuse. In fact they positively advocated physical abuse of kids until quite recently, as I'm sure many on this forum can testify too.

Morpheus Agree with you that in essence their statements where all smoke and mirrors...O'Brien was basically saying that women can be part of the PROCESS of reporting but not in the DECISION making ie the JC. This effectively changes nothing. Presently there is no reason why a woman cannot wright the hallowed letter (that they kept banging on about)and read this to the JC on behalf of the victim. This was what OBrien was visualising when he made that statement Morpheus. So yes, no change there.

Regarding reporting to the authorities, they will only do so when their hand is forced, remember the PRIME DIRECTIVE in JW world is 'do not bring reproach on Jehoovers name'.

OBrien was willing to take the fall for the GB, why I have no idea as I believe he knows ttatt to some extent anyway, you could see it in the way he reacted. I suppose as a career JW he has too much to loose. As for Toole, he looked like a rabbit cornered by a pack of hounds by the end of it, the physical change in him was quite startling. I suppose when you have left your clients wide open to criminal charges (due to a lack of knowledge any cab driver could tell you) it comes as a bit of a shock.

I Made the Literature Trolley Run Away Today - Twice

i popped into town this morning to buy an anniversary card for mrs cofty.

it is market day on a saturday and it's tourist season so the town was very busy.

here is a picture of the scene from a year ago... two cult carts were in their favourite place being guarded by none other than one of the elders who was on my judicial committee, his wife and another jw woman in her electric disability buggy.

How old are these people? Really, when you think about it...they trully are kept in an infantile state.

Keeping my eye out for the carts...already had one get so angry I thought she was going to deck me!
