New Inactive One Saying Hello to all

lostwun here, i joined 2 months ago but am now just finding the courage after doing more research to formally introduce myself to the board and embrace my new beginnings as an ex-jw.

i am a second-generation jw.

i grew up with parents who are well known and very respected in many circuits.

Lostwon, Hi, I expect you are in the states. I am in the UK, but I believed very much and didn't realise the truth until my 40's so I am glad you seem to have youth on your side.

Don't rush things, is there any way you and hubby could go to couseling so that you can discuss things that are upsetting you both in a "safe"enviroment.If you find a therapist who knows a bit about cult mind control it may help to gently open his eyes to some of the thought stopping processes the mind utilizes to ease feelings of cognative dissonance

so i ran into this brother whom ive known for a while and the conversation led into me being invited to come back to the kingdom hall.

we talked for about an hour during which time i explained to him 607 being the wrong date and a lot of other stuff including the child abuse cases in australia.

but what i wanted to relate was the last few minutes of our conversation.

Secondly, will he graciously and without a moments hesitation extend the same courtesy of leaving alone to a Catholic, atheist, pagan, protestant the next time he knocks on their door UNINVITED?

Brighid got it bang on, if his children excercize, similarly,their right to freely choose the peace of his home will abruptly cease and misery will reign for the short time they do have left to each other. Also, can he guarantee the householder he converts with cunning and falsehood will not be utterly mierable should he be unable to live up to their primative doctrine.

The Romans did not crucify robbers

i've been reading a book called nonsense from the bible.

in it it makes the point that the romans did not crucify robbers.

having since researched this it seems this is true.

Calebinflorida While I don't believe Jesus was the messiah, of course, as a jew I can attest that the details of the crucifixion attributed to this case do suggest he was crucified with thieves.

How? By reading the new testiment like anyone else?

Almost every book I have ever read had been quite certain that IN GENERAL crucifixtion was reserved for crimes against the state, sidition basically.

Now, that's not to say that this general principal was not abused.

This piece was called a sidile, and likely rested under the bottom, for the purpose described.

Interestingly, another witness myth, that Jesus was crucified on a stake, has been laid to rest by archeologists who say that the victim would carry the crossbar or patibulum (weighing 50-100lbs)and that this would rest on the upright (in a t bar shape at the top.* described as a tau which is Latin equivelent shape T )

Yes, I believe the Romans' reserved crucifiction for treason, basically, certainly not a minor crime like theft. Mindyou, does the NT actually call them thiefs?I can't remember, if so that definately does not fit historically.

Regarding the slow death, it's true that the Romans, if they were being 'merciful'would brake the victims' legs to speed up what was normally a slow death from suffocation basically.

The NT states that a Roman soldier pierces Jesus'side to speed up death so all could be completed prior to the sabbath. This is supposed to fulfill a "scripture" but it is unclear what scripture it is supposed to refer to. Exodus 12 and Numbers 9 are commandments regarding the pashel lamb and Psalms 34.20/19 talk about in the plural righteous people in general.

Another one decides to leave

well in a month where i had a friend of 20 years tell me "we can't kick it no mo" because i no longer go to meetings, i had an even older friend who is coming to visit me, call me and tell me hes out.. currently a high profile ms who gives talks out all over the place, the elders said they are recommending him for appt to the body in sep when the co is coming through.

but nope......hes about to step down all together.. what did it?

because i am not disfellowshipped, and soft peddle my issues with the org, i was able to speak to him about things like blood, and a couple other things.

Bad move, try to disuade her...what if they shun their parents in the years to come when parents totally get ttatt and can't bear the hypocracy of attending.

Moral? In what sense? Beating kids, sexism, homophobia, lies, total disregard for one's neighbour if they don't happen to agree with one's worldview, puting symbolism above people's lives, hypocracy of waiting for legislation to do the right thing, perjury...need I go on?
