What’s the deal with all the Smart-Educated JWs?
by John Aquila inwe talk a lot about most jws being uneducated, uninformed, and that they lack critical thinking skills, but in my area there is a lot of jws that went to the university, medical school, law school, and came back to the organization.
in my circuit, that i know of, we had two electrical engineers, one computer engineer with a ph.d. eight teachers with a bachelors degree and three of those with a masters in education.
we had two medical doctors, one was a pediatrician who closed his business about 3 years ago and went to bethel.

Oppostrate Maybe that explanation absolves you from the hat-eating experience. If not, bon-appetit.
Ha ha ha! I knew that one would come back to bite me on the ass !!😙😝
You know, there is also the fact, as many have pointed out, that God coming along to solve the worlds problems and injustices is a mighty big carrott to dangle. If you are a deep thinker it could be said that those injustices would weigh more heavily on you, thus making the carrot that bit harder to give up? I dont know what others think? -

Governing body member engaged... Again!
by OneDayillBeFree injust found out that the australian governong body member known as geoffrey jackson got engaged to a sister about two weeks ago.
it really shocked me at first but then i remembered how other members of the gb have remarried in the past like daniel sidlik.
what made me say "woah" was hearing that the holy bride to be is really young!

Did you guys know there is a polynesian place name called : Taumata-whaka-tanei-hanakoauau-o-tamatea-turipukaka-pikimaunga-horo-nuku-pokai-whenuakutana-tahu
it means (roughly) the summit of the hill where Tamatea, who is known as the land eater slid down, climbed up and swallowed mountains played on his nose flute to his loved one!
anyone who can pronounce polynesian without sounding very rude has my respect!

As regards attracting new converts to the JW's who are well educated: the more they dumb down their literature, the less likely it is to happen.
FayeDunnaway having not seen the literature for about 13 years I was absolutely shocked. My initial reaction was "is it me? Have I grown wiser with age and/or education?" , to be fair I now realize I had seen the simplified version but the study version is not that much better!

done4good. Remember JWs that do go to university are going for career purposes, not to be enlightened in the general sense, so it is easier for them to have a rather disengaged viewpoint to the experience,
That was my point exactly, your vocational accountancy exams being a case in point and I was specifically thinking of born ins but I take your point about compartmentalisation - never to be under estimated!

Does anybody know if the WTS, invests in the 2 companys of Lockheed Martin & Grumman Northrop, which are 2 of the biggest weapons suppliers?
by Dunedain ini read in another thread, where it said that the wts, has investments from stocks, with the companys of lockheed martin and grumman northrop.
these are some of the biggest weapons suppliers to the us,uk, and israel.
i would think it would be very hypocritical for a christian organisation, that claims to be nuetral, and to "learn war no more", to invest money in companys that produce weapons, that are used in wars.. is this true, though?

I think we need legislation on Bibles. There should be a 7 day waiting period and a background check before you can get one. No more freebies in your hotel room. If you're crazy, you can't get a bible.
Maybe that will help stop some of these crazy doomsday prophecies.
JWS thats the funniest and truest thing I've heard all week!

Listen I disagree with all this sexist rubbish btw, much as I dislike what the GB stand for I think you are wrong about this marriage. 1)he has known her many years and used to witness with her and his deseased wife in polynesia, so she is not that young. They both hopefully have many years left and want some companionship and yes, maybe he can give her a better life and why not?She is also not the women in the photo above. -

Saintb may I ask please because I am a complete newbie when it comes to share etc a) can we assume someone willed the Riley Trust to the Watchtower and b) in theory then would we know if the Watchtower has declined to be a beneficiary? -

The right to shun - wrong?
by Simon inmany people are understandably upset and angry at the notion that jws have the right to shun people.
it seems such an obvious "no brainer" cruel and inhuman thing to do - it must be wrong ... surely?.
of course we look at things from the perspective of those hurt and harmed by shunning.

Mad Irishman
Duh!
Do you know how many non-Witnesses shunned me when I was a Witness? Now you're going to try and regulate what they can do?
Actually its true any born-in can tell you how painful it can be to be shunned by your school mates for being different.😢
Again though that is individual preference.
