Far fewer references to lesbians
by Doug Mason ini notice that while a search of the wt library reveals many references to homosexuals, there are few references to lesbians.. does the wts include women when it uses the term homosexual?.
when discussing masturbation, does it mention both sexes?.
i am asking out of pure ignorance, seeking clarification.. my only comment is that religion of every shade has difficulty with the subject of sexual activity, as if it were something that is not part of nature.. doug.

Actually from my memories as a teenager reading WT literature I felt more guilted because they focused so much on male sexuality/masterbation etc as if I was a freak for being a girl with a sex drive. -

No 'Tight Pants' policy is now official - classed as 'disturbing'
by wizzstick inin short:- tight pants is no longer just a am3 hang up (or is that a hang up on the well hung?
)- brothers who have effeminate body language are flagged up- as are sisters with 'masculine' hair styles or dress- such dress is 'disturbing to the congregation'- the above must heed the (repeated) counsel from the elders...or they get stripped of the right to share on the ministry- however...this will not be revealed (announced) to the congregation.
wow.

He blamed Yoga pants as being inappropriate attire, not to be worn by true Christians,
Again that dated old dotard of a donut AM III gets it wrong.
Yoga pants are flared and roomy. He's thinking of leggings.
Anyone fancy a whip round so we can send Gok Wan to the GB for a fasion lesson?π

Simon
Compared to giving up relationships, giving up certain styles of clothing seems less serious doesn't it?
I hear you Simon, we should be up in arms about WT homophobia period.
But I guess for me its an added injustice that someone can be persecuted for their demenor gay or straight.

Living forever
by jws insomeone on facebook posted john 3:16 where it says people will live forever.. not that i believe it, but i just cannot imagine this.
this, to me, would be the true hell.. if i'm very lucky, i will live to be 100. at nearly half that, already some parts of life no longer hold much interest to me.
even tv shows.

If we are all perfect, living perfect lives we will have no cause for empathy, the glue that binds the human & animal family together. Empathy happens because we are soft wired to experience anothers plight as if its our own, this happens due to our mirror neurons.
With perfection, presumeably like everything we don't use, our mirror neurons would die off and all empathetic emotion wiuld cease leaving us automatons.
Do watch this short RCA vid about it
GodZoo:
We are doing that already and so far they are all lifeless, cold and dead and unable to support any form of life.
We should also not forget that the Bible itself clearly contradicts this fantasy of space travel and galactic exploration.
Reasonably conservative estimates there are about 100 earth like habitable planets for every grain of sand on earth.I think Villageidiots 1000 yrs is a good age . The only reason I want to live longer is for the moment when, not if, we meet our first non human sentient ( alien )civilization.
Check out this all who want to limit themselves to earth.

People don't hate themselves and commit suicide because Starbucks doesn't allow giant gauges or three earrings to be worn during business hours by employees. They don't commit suicide because Apple asks their emloyees to be neat or wear a company shirt. They don't commit suicide because Disney asks them to arrive on time and smile at children, whether or not you feel like Snow White on Monday morning.
If you want to wear three earrings, you have the freedom to leave Starbucks and work somewhere else. Your life is not affected negatively, you still have your friends and family. That is a world apart from a letter to Church officials, asking them to actively seek out and discriminate against members who look "gay."
Bang on DD, so toni the tiger has wrested control from old ex-Splaner !
That twitcherty shouldered old buzzard, whose so holier-than-thou just because nepotism saw him into the GB AND he raised 2 boys, is going to tighten the screws on the kids even more.
Like to be well groomed? Use moisterizer for your shaving rash?Like a well fitting suit in something other than taliban black? Ok, rant on dress superficial and expected.
But....
Young man with a voice too high..,gentle manner, soft laugh? Fond of your bros giving them all hugs..oh and I forgot, handsome? Elders kids a bit jealous of the attention all the ladies give you 'cos you love to make the sisters laugh....
Time for a witchunt
Its all so bloody predictable, it would be funny if I didn't know how much misery their stupidity and ignorance causes.

Did an EX-JW wake you up to TTATT or did you put the effort to wake up yourself?
by John Aquila inhow many of us were woken up by some apostate yelling false prophets at a convention?.
how many of us were woken up by someone holding a sign and yelling, what happened to 1975.
how many of us were coerced to investigate the wt because some ex-jw pulled up a bunch of old watchtowers magazines and told us to read the false predictions?.

My first experience with anti cult views was probably field service. We went out in service a LOT. We lived among a very educated population. Many of those people liked to get in long discussions about philosophical/theological issues, often for their own entertainment I think, and I still remember many of the conversations. It's interesting, because of course you are SUPPOSED to go out in service and have discussions with people, but doing that exposed me to all sorts of interesting ideas
Hi Faye, Hi all,
I 've sometimes wondered if this is one of the reasons the WT are pushing (geddit?π)cart witnessing. What with the internet combined with more people educated generally but also specifically re cults, atheism, the biological sciences, evolution & now the Royal Commision etc are the dark tower worried that Jdubs, rarther than enlightening the householder, are more likely to get enlightened themselves . Whereas people are less likely to lecture cart witnesses regarding their folly if they are not being actively engaged in conversation themselves.
That and legal reasons - always something they have to consider these days, especially if they have a lot of paedophile pioneers' on the loose.

You have a $100,000,000 budget to do a global campaign against the WTBS worldwide. How would you spend it?
by JWchange inwhat if by inheritance, winning the lottery or any other way, you suddenly got your hands on $150m after tax.
you maybe would spend a third of this giving your extended family financial security for life.
you maybe would buy a boat and a few investment properties.

Marvin Shilmer14 hours ago
The answer is easy: Offer each current member of the GB the sum of $10,000,000 to step aside as a GB member and write a memoir on their years as a GB member and that must be accompanied by documentation.
Watchtower would be toast as we know it today. Over. Done with.
Multiple GB members would jump on this cash train.
Oh love it! I agree....now anyone, who would be the first takers...in your opinion?
Does anyone think any of the GB are partially awake? Or have they swallowed it hook, line & sinker?

Are you a θε€ (laowei = foreigner) - where to go for a pub-crawl in Shanghai
by fulltimestudent inwhen i was less experienced in chinese ways, i used to think that chinese people couldn't drink (low tolerance to alcohol).
not so, last trip i tagged along on a night out, a friend put on for his staff.
after a long dinner of many dishes, cooked specially by a 5 star hotel chef hired for the occasion, lubricated with many bottles of wine, we finished up at a nightclub on the edge of a lake, where they continued drinking shot after shot of tequila.

Good point.
I think Marvin has answered it better than I could.
I will add, from my own point of view, that this is an organization that claims to have Holy (holy?)Spirit. The personal backing of the Almighty Creator of the universe, at that time and for all time.
That such an organization could go gunning after one aged individual who had served it faithfully for most of his life - homeless, virtually penniless and almost friendless - with a vindictiveness that would make the Cosa Nostra blush, simply for the crime of resigning his position?
Words fail me.....
Is it relevent today? Yes, if you have an ounce of human compassion. I feel no shame in playing the emotion card btw.
