My brother died last night

i found out this morning that my brother died last night, he was also an ex jw, 73 years old and died of heart disease and kidney failure.

it was not totally unexpected, as he had been in poor health, but it's a blow, especially as i just lost another brother two years ago.

there were six of us, now only four.

Are the anointed really "lovely people"?

i've personally never met any of those who claim to be anointed but the other jw's who have are always unanimous in their praise of how lovely and what wonderful people they are.

and i don't mean the gb i mean common or garden anointed.

i was told that when they speak about being in heaven that they almost "seem to glow".. is this right?

It seems as though many from the first half of the 'overlapping generation' of anointed ones were much more sincere, humble, hard working and kind compared to the second half of the 'overlapping generation' of so-called anointed ones.

As I mentioned, my tuppence worth is that the older ones we knew were mostly " anointed" by virtue of their being baptised pre 1935 when all had the "heavenly hope"- whereas the later ones actually had to make themselves different to everyone else by claiming to be " anointed".

Either that or old people tend to be less egotistical.

I've known a few but the two I knew well one was very old, an outstandingly cantankerous so and so. Of that generation whereby they were all anointed simply by virtue of their being witnesses pre ' 35 - which may explain the normality and humility of some, after all they didn't ' self diagnose' . The other was the stern and vigilant wife of our p.o., a women who outshone her elder husband in the mental faculties by some measure.I believe her ' anointing' by and large a way for her to cope with the injustice of her situation, subject to her inferior mate only by virtue of her sex.

Arrrgghhhh...this makes me want to scream...we sold our house ( the one asset that may have saved them from the penniless retirement they have to !took forward to). So what happened to the money? OK they didn't actually SAY that they gave it to the org and they may have used it to finance further pioneering BUT since they were already managing to pioneer the inference is that they did indeed give it to Jehov..er the Borg....and were rewarded with a shitty course not even bloody Gilead they would have got back in the day.

I like the way Shelly is only thanked as an after-thought for her " supporting" role even though she's battling her way through crowds of violent looters and rioters AS WELL.

And what is it with the org and people with prognathism....or GIANT JUTTING OUT JAWS. Is this reverse evolution working on these atavistic morons???

Hey truth doubter! Well, you certainly got some interesting replies...which is what I think you were aiming for..a very good question for a JW kid, which just goes to prove that if we thought more like your average kid, cults would have a very hard time indeed!

this marks the going public of a community that i co-founded with my friend todd kadish that is very important in new york city, indeed for everyone.

especially for those who have escaped from some very controlling organizations a chance to integrate into the real world while still feeling validated and avoiding bitterness.

Just wondering if Mr Issac Carmignani was one of the ones outed in the Facebook debacle that Cedars was so ambivalent about. Shocking. He was outed in 2006 apparently whilst an elder.

its been a long time since i've posted here, i've been caught up with school and work so i've never had the time to post on the forum, but i've still been reading through some articles on here.

Hell yeah! It drives me mad, I don't know how the modern witnesses can stand it...talk about a witnesses being a culture...its almost become an actual JW " dialect"
