Ruby456 I think that in another time and place JWs would have made great senators, leaders, teachers and pace setters for the betterment of society. It is just that you got caught up in something that went horribly wrong.
Hallelujah to this !!!
i have been sneakily looking at this forum, almost every day, ever since it began!
it has taken me till now to actually register and contribute.
(actually i did register with a different name in the beginning but never commented).. i am a pimo elder with a fairly long history of senior "positions" in the organization.

one or two notable points from chapter 18 of "god's kingdom rules.".
“it will never beg nor petition men for support”.
7 brother russell and his associates refused to imitate the money-raising schemes so common in the churches of christendom.
"Zions watchtower has, we believe, Jehovah for its backer and while this is the case we will never beg or petition for support."
But we will con people out of their money by pretending to sell miracle wheat instead!!!
i am prepared for shunning when i send in my da letter.
my dad was furious when he comes back from overseas and find out that i have da myself.
yes, i do regret not talking to him first before i da...i also know that my mom is crying in her room.. but they didn't chase me out of the house.
Oh I just want to hug you, it must hurt like hell At first freedom...But then you start to feel so lonely, I get it.
I think pale.empowers advice is absolutely spot on. You could also post on exjwreddit too, as there are lots of kids your age in exactly your situation. I believe it will get better but you must take care of yourself, as your parents are not watching over you so much. And please, no smoking!!I speak as one who is suffering now for doing so. Your mum could probably smell it on you or your clothes. It's very obvious to non smokers even when you do so away from them.
Don't use on your pain, it's a dangerous place to be. That's how addictions happen. I seriously would consider getting some help from the school councillor as this is a hell of a chunk you've bitten off.
I hope your parents soften their stance when they start getting over their anger. In the meantime please seek out some help as you are clearly suffering and know you are a very worthwhile and valuable human being who deserves the love of his parents no matter what their warped religion tells them.
has anyone had this experience.
that once some contact is made with others here they never write again?
.
Oh im guilty, I'm afraid. And its the weirdest thing but it's like I'm frightened of rejection. I have very low self esteem and I'm so thrilled when ever I get a pm, or any friendship overture, in fact. I think, though, if they get to know me they won't like me so I am afraid to persue it.
It doesn't mean I don't think about the person, sometimes very very often.
perhaps the one scripture most often quoted by jws is matthew 24:14: "this good news of the kingdomwill be preached in all the inhabited earth and then the end will come.
" even after decades away from the kingdom hall, i can still rattle off that verse.
i daresay all 8-plus million "active" jws can also recite it, plus the untold millions who have left or become inactive across the decades.. it is among the top cornerstone texts used in jw communications.. but now there's a significant shift in the use of that text: jws often focused heavily on the part of the scripture about the end coming.
Very interesting, Steve. We're is it, exactly...on the home page?
well.....they showed that shunning video again.
you know...the one where goldilocks gets disfellowshipped- and the parents look across the hall at her with disdain.....yeah that video.. i was interested to see what kind of answers would be given during the discussion after the video and some of the reactions.
everyone sat there gormlessly staring at the video.
Stuckinarut It is NO different to the JW situation. They treat people in an abusive manner, then compound the situation by maligning their character and reputation amongst the rest of the congregation, THEN think that witnesses would WANT to go back??
Huh??
This might be a good thing to say to "still in" dubs, I believe it will certainly make them think. The concept certainly brought it home to me.

Hi Pimojw! I'm really sorry you find yourself in this heinous situation.
Judge MaClelland of the ARC called it a " captive organization"...and it's the best description I've heard.
I think this is why shunning is the no.1 issue, and harm, for jw's. Without shunning people would have the ability to walk away from the org - and in doing so refuse to accept the other harmful practices. Jehovahs Witnesses could vote with their feet when it comes to blood, child abuse and the 2 witness rule, domestic violence and many other problems that we fear to criticise, or just debate.
They weaponized our family's....and our conscience pays the price.
A lot of the conflicts you have regarding beliefs ring so true for me, too! I too have a real respect and love for the man Jesus, and I don't believe he would agree with their heirachical, pharaseical attitude.
I also think he would be found humbly working in a soup kitchen if he were on earth right now, not hurling fireballs at children with Antony Morris the turd and the rest of the GovBod.
I'm absolutely convinced that evolution is true but how the universe and life began, that is a whole other question. I long to think a benign and wise force is there somewhere. I also think there is much to admire in Buddhism as a way of life.
One thing I do is try not to judge. I also dislike the pomposity of believing you are utterly right as the Watchtower does, and most horrible that I look forward to a paradise for me that I will gain by the murder of 7 billion people, a billion of which at any given time are babies and young children.
Keep on having an open mind and WELCOME!!
my sister recently wrote a short piece on the impact of our parents' becoming jehovah's witnesses in the 1950s.
she was a teenager at the time.
what is so striking and disturbing is that the same predicament faces so many teenagers to this day.
DN Call That is the most fantastic snapshot of a very lovely, enquiring, healthy teenage girl in a very difficult, closed-minded, unhealthy situation. Set in the fifties, it rings as true today, sadly, as it did back then....she achieved her goals without the aid of the internet, you tube and the exjw community of today.
She was, is, a very remarkable person.
I'd love to know if she was your elder sister, and how you fared yourself. Were you unfortunately sucked in? Perhaps never knowing the small bit of normalcy she did?
I'd love to post this on exjwreddit as an inspiration to the many young kids going through the same thing..... 60 years later.
tired of listening to your local elders giving the "special" talk ever year after the memorial?
well don't worry, as of next year we will be spicing things up for your enjoyment.. not only will we be having the talk before the memorial (i know, wild huh), but we will be treating you to the talk via video starring our famous speakers from bethel so you can see how a talk should be given (after all bethel does boast the best speakers in any country, right?!).
here's a copy of the text from our latest letter as i'm sure that with so much excitement you won't believe it at first!.
It's because they're probably getting too many invited guests (although " many" is a relative term when talking about jw guests) freaking out at the " rejection of the emblems" ceremony before they "understand" the idea behind it ( again "understand" is a relative term when it comes to etc etc.....you get the picture)
i just completed writing a series of 8 blog posts dismantling the watchtower's blood policies.. it was my goal to prove that the blood ban is neither scriptural nor sensible.
this is a rewrite of the series of articles i contributed some years ago to the now defunct jehovahswitnessblog site of james peyton (you may also know james as the founder of jwpodcast.
) even though this is a very serious topic, i tried to stay true to the humorous mood "tenny pajamas" always managed to maintain on his site.
Are you SMMcRoberts? ??!!
If so, I love you! Your writing is utterly brilliant!
