Isn't it funny how we us humans can be such harsh critics of the generation before.
But imagine....what on earth would we be without them.
Terry your imagination just blows me away!
paradisewas it really paradise to be in paradise?adam and eve never were held by a mother, never cuddled and sung to with a lullaby nor nursed or coddled with tenderness or any human familial embrace.
the first humans (adam and eve) never learned to toddle surrounded by brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles and grandparents cheering them on.
the entire experience of childhood was excised surgically like a trauma patient awakening from an accident with amnesia.adam and eve were never in a neighborhood with other kids forming friendship bonds for life and exchanging dreams and hopes for a future they were building in their community.

ok, so hot on the heels of the announcement at the agm, we have been told that there are probably only 12 magazines left!.
yes, there will be only 3 wt each year, and 3 awakes.... and that they will do this for two years, then reprint those issues.... so yes, the "abundance of spiritual food" is limited to 12 more magazines..... surely, this is proof of the end coming so soon!?!
😉.
Ruby456 lolololol!!!! Local in their heads ok!!!
Isn't the study edition of the Watchtower going ahead as per usual though? Not sure what folks in poorer countries will do without WiFi and tablets to access it.
from reddit:.
this was an oral argument to dismiss the $4000/day fine.
both sides presented their arguments and now the judges will write an opinion (30 to 90 days).
Many thanks for taking it for the team😊Very interesting....."flip flopping" eh? Can't help themselves.
the judge said "Seems like you just want to come back again and again until the end of time."
He has no idea how much they're hoping this happens!!
daniel 8 for dummies - part 2: "the watchtower strikes back" .
i've posted this one before, but it's been updated and is especially geared for you true believing dubbies out there.
what i'm going to discus is important even though you may not have the attention span to digest it, because this is your religion and what it still teaches.
Bump this hilarious post, since someone mentioned Farkel!
he seems like he'd be very stern and a drag to have to be around.
obsessed with tight pants and homosexuals and all.
so what's he really like?.
I'm gonna go all controversial now.
From what I've read about the old GB, they don't sound very nice *at all*, with one or two exceptions. Nor especially intelligent, when put on the spot. Even Ray Franz I've heard was rarther gruff and could seem a bit rude on occaision.
Now, I can't imagine today's GB getting offered a position without being at least a bit likeable in person. Its just such a big corp now, and as you say so media orientated - with meet-and-greet's - you'd at least have to be a bit personable.
does jw org claim to have translated the nwt into other languages from greek/hebrew?
because if they did claim that they would have to have biblical scholars in biblical greek/hebrew from every language, that would be a ton of ppl!
and take a lot of time!.
Scratchme1010 Why do you keep asking so many questions about the JW teachings here? They have their own website, they have their own literature and they are more than happy to answer any question about their teachings that you ask.
Just sayin'
You know as well as I that they would never admit to not being able to scrape up so much as ONE Hebrew or koine Greek scholar among themselves.

So yes, OP, from original to English to yet a third language.Plenty of room for confusion and mistakes.
And that's been going on for thousands of years!!!!

Ahhhhh that felt quite good when they let them in and fed them up! Kinda felt sorry for those lads in the UK, so young and away from home for 2 years. But elder??!!
i remember some men getting appointed and wondering what the hell were they thinking???.
likewise when i came to someone being appointed a presiding overeer or whatever they are called now!
.
OntheWayOut No, she is a JW. I mean the old C.O. literally thought white JW's marrying black JW's was "spiritually" bad.
Spiritually bad my @$$ - that man was a racist.
There's an ex-Walkill bethelite who has posted on you tube about the racism at Bethel/within the organisation.
I have to be fair and say in the UK if your man the CO said such a thing to you he'd have been disciplined....even back in the 80s and 70s. I'm sorry you guys had to go through that.

OntheWayOut do you mean 'mixed' religiously? When the Witnesses use that word that's usually what they mean, but I thought your wife was still in?
Appointed someone with severe learning difficulties in my cong. He was an M.S. for a lifetime! They prayed about it, and thought it unfair not to appoint him elder, in the end!
my freind (who is also out) and i were talking about this the other night.
i was a born-in, 3rd generation jw and she converted when she was in her late 20's.. when she left, she said that she knew the world wasn't as bad as she was told as a jw, so she knew she would be fine.
also, she still had lots of "worldly" family who welcomed her back with open arms.. it was harder for me - i had nobody in the "world", no family or freinds.
Harder for born in because of the family being held hostage.
One thing I will say, I believe converts make more of a commitment than born-ins....and it may be harder to admit you are wrong and the blame is yours. There is definitely more sympathy for born ins, and I don't think that is quite right.
