  Unwritten Theory

  have any of you heard some theories from jws that are not based on scripture?

  i have, in the past few days, heard a couple that have me shaking my head.. first one is that since satan was around during the creation period and probably watched on as things were being made, it is possible that he is responsible for the creation of some of the more hideous and nasty creatures that live among us.

  surely god wouldn't make horrible things.. second one is that satan already had a bad attitude before the creation of adam and eve and was collecting followers among the other angels early on and stirring trouble.

  Punky (and everyone)I heard a sister(tm) saying that thing about satan creating wasps and nasty creepy crawlies. So bonkers.

  If Satan could do that - create life himself, do they not wonder what differentiates him from God?

  Not to mention a lot of these ' creepy crawlies' carry out vital functions - such as pollination, eating pests themselves - without which our whole ecosystem would collapse. That's pretty decent of Satan, I'd say!

  Faced with the reality of mortality

  how have you all coped with facing the reality of our mortality?.

  most of us were raised to firmly believe we would never get old or die... so here we are now having to face the reality that are getting older... we are going to die.. sometimes it really pisses me off that we were never helped to comprehend this most basic of facts.

  we were given a utopian dream as a "fact", and hence never taught how to face our inevitable futures.... thoughts?.

  Excellent post! Our mortality is something that hit me hard, since I became unwell in my 40s and coincided with my full awakening. Its an important topic that we as exjws should talk about more.

  I wonder if it's been studied by psychologists, as it must be a fairly rare phenomenon, no? To be so utterly sure of your own immortality, despite all evidence to the contrary!

  SBF The sense being that, if such properties comprise who we are in toto, then the extension or recapitulation of who we are is merely a technical question that will be solved one day.

  This is something I firmly believe. That is if we don't destroy ourselves first.

  Sadly, SBF, you and I were born too soon and will miss that boat. But energy is just transferred from one form to another. Perhaps part of our energy will become a snowdrop, or a wolf cub?

  Irish Elders deleted by Watchtower for reporting child sex abuse allegation to police

  two elders have been deleted by watchtower for reporting an allegation of child sexual abuse to the police, contrary to watchtower orders (a jw paedophile with a history, apparently).

  when the british branch discovered what the elders had done they arranged for 3 elders to fly over to ireland, at the congregations expense no less, to hold a special jc for the ' rogue' congregation elders.

  one elder and the cobe were deleted, two were allowed to continue.

  Two elders have been deleted by Watchtower for reporting an allegation of child sexual abuse to the police, contrary to Watchtower orders (a jw paedophile with a history, apparently). When the British branch discovered what the elders had done they arranged for 3 elders to fly over to Ireland, at the congregations expense no less, to hold a special JC for the ' rogue' congregation elders. One elder and the COBE were deleted, two were allowed to continue. All four had made statements to police.

  Their crime was, breathtakingly, not exhibiting "soundness of mind" by not following company directives and using their own conscience!!!

  The following 'Watchtower in Focus' explains all. Incredibly a practicing jw reached out to jw survey in an attempt to have a light shone on this travesty of justice, which resulted in an excellent front page article being written in a national magazine.

  Lloyd Evans practice of maintaining a less antagonistic attitude toward jw's is paying off.

  How many watchtowers do the witnesses receive each year?

  my question is how many watchtower and awake magazines do the witnesses receive thru the year?

  my mother and i stop going about 30 years ago, my sister does attend still, and she says that they will receive 3 watchtowers and 3 awakes a year.

  is that true?

  This is for the new year, for the public that is. Presently they receive one a month, alternately Watchtower and Awake. You are correct they have cut back a great deal.

  I'm afraid your sister is using a bit of ' theocratic warfare' on you, as Witnesses term porkies!!

  ExBethelite Marcus Vaughn on you tube talks about how they keep you in a state of semi starvation at Bethel. Lads, some probably still finishing growth, working 12 hour days, charging to meetings, too, living on meagre rations and hoping for a top up on a Sunday from their cong famillies.

  I believe him because the way he talks about food, constantly, With such love and relish, he's like someone who's just be released from a gulag!!

  born in 1955 jacko was baptized at 13 years of age in 1968.his life story, printed in the august 2015 watchtower doesn't state the year in which he married, it's fairly general when talking about it.

  hmmm, i wonder why?i've come across a recording of an interview with jacko at a hall dedication in another part of the us in 2009 which provides some further information.he married his first wife, jenny, in 1974 at the grand old age of 19. no wonder they didn't want to print it in the watchtower.unfortunately his first wife, jenny, was diagnosed with cancer in 1999.in 2003 jacko was sent a letter from the gb stating he was being transferred to hq and his wife would be given appropriate work.

  he initially didn't know why they were being called to hq as he felt they were being very productive in their fijian paradise, he states that they brought 75 people into the truth.

  But the point about GB meetings is interesting too...I've sat in elders meeting where an elder with a dominant personality will get his way yet it is perceived as "Holy Spirit"...seems true of the GB, I can imagine tight pants Tony getting his way at GB meetings and yet Jackson would think it is indeed Holy Spirit.

  Exactly, I think that's where Jackson's " what happened there" statement comes from, I imagine the more reasonable types heading in a moderate direction when WHAMO in wades Toni with some extremist nonsense which of course wins the day.

  Agreed. Polynesians age well so she is probably older than she looks, too, I think she's no more than maximum 15 yrs younger...they worked together, remember.

  ( I also guessed he'd been chosen in part for his large number of conversions. They think J has been" blessing" his ministry but Polynesians are crazy religious and he was always going to make a killing in that regard).

  Why Jehovah witnesses don't say, "Bless you" ?

  bless you, that was a big sneeze you let out sister.. sister- ah, what does "bless you" mean?.

  oh, it's pagan.

  because people bless the soul of the person so they don't escape from their physical bodies.. sister- right, it is difficult to change the little things, but we can please jehovah by staying away from those things.. .... this is a scenario that happened when i accidentally (naturally) said "bless you" to the jw sister.

  Dbq407 to try and set themselves off as being different than people who are non witnesses. Any little thing they can use to say "hey we are different than every other religion".

  Bingo, we have a winner, Ladies and Gentlemen!!

  The above statement pretty much covers everything.

  Which is why saying that their religion is no different to any other religion is the most offensive thing you can say to a Witness!

  many who now post here are new to the forum and i felt it was necessary to honor his memory.

  although i never knew him, his brother was my roommate for a time at watchtower farms.

  i remember my mother teaching me that a conscience was like an alarm in my head that would warn me when i'm on the verge of doing something immoral.

  if i ignored the beeping, the batteries would run out.

  i'd lose my moral compass.

  Isn't it terrible that if you take jw theology to its logical conclusion we would all kill ourselves and our children because you're never sure you're doing enough for the Organization Jehovah to make it through Armageddon and at least you and your children would get resurrected that way.
